Why is novel Maomao so ugly
Maomao with freckles and without other makeup is *supposed* to be unremarkable and plain. The whole point of that disguise is to be not attractive enough to draw attention from horny drunks.

I think it was pretty blunt, but I was going down the 'princess is a tomboy and ain't into being caged 24/7, so she has doubles to take her place'. Wasn't expecting her to be completely in on everything, welp, her heads coming off. There were the other things like being literate, able to draw, leisure stuff most maids won't have the time for at that age.
I never realized but that's only because Loulan barely made an appearance in the show so I kept forgetting what she looked like.
