Quick comparison I made of early part 8 vs late Part 8, I tried to find images with the same panel size and respective quality for the art of the time.
As you can see Araki started drawing rounder shorter shapes. This is especially apart on the noses which lost the majority of the bridge focusing mainly on the ball of the nose and nostrils. and focused more on basic shading with screen tones and hatching, rather then the in depth crosshatching before though every once and a while he did bring it back.

It became a plot point in True man’s World where the purpose was to show the difference between Gyro and Johnny except Gyro was shown to be a violent bad boy in his intro, the race, and fights up to that point. His character was retconned for that one arc, still good on its own though

Not really, though. Even in Scary Monsters, Gyro was the one who wanted to check up on Diego while Johnny immediately wanted to leave him for dead kek. The only time Gyro was a 'bad boy' was when that one guy stepped up to him in his intro, and even then, he kept trying to de-escalate the situation until his hand was forced.
