I've still yet to see a compelling argument for how Frieren is anything above a 6.5/10 that quickly devolves into a 4/10. Standards have fallen so far that a series that feels "mature" and strays away from icky otaku tropes is suddenly seen as defining the entire medium.

The surest sign of something making a big splash in the genre are reactions to it and copycats of it. Given when Frieren hit its popularity, when should we expect to start seeing the copycats and the like roll in? Have they already begun by now and just not made it through the indie pipeline yet?

Actual answer: its a very well produced show with very good animation and OST, that tells a more thoughtful story than fantasy slop has done in a long time, and without fanservice or other anime-isms that usually make normies embarrassed to watch anime in public.
Frieren is good in the same way that the classic ghibli movies are are: not just well done, but the content is such that you could watch Frieren with your parents or with your kids and no one would be likely to have a problem with it. Its an EXCELLENT entry level anime that puts the best parts of japanese animation on full display, but also is just overall well written so you don't have to be an anime baby to enjoy it.
You have to go out of your way to find things to be mad about to hate on Frieren. Its as close to a genuine 9/10 show as can exist in reality.
