Oshi no Ko

Why the hell did Aka kill the protagonist for an ending? What the fuck was he thinking? Did he just pull this for cheap shock value? This shitty ending is a disrespect to your readers. Fuck this hack

He had to redeem the great sins he committed in his quest for revenge.
Which was nothing really

I'm not against Aqua committing murder suicide, but the sloppy way the entire ending arc was written just makes the whole thing come across as absolute shit. It's clear Aka just wanted to be done with OnK.

kanakane.jpg - 959x1279, 243.14K

it could've been done well but the way it was done was completely retarded. in fact the whole last 40ish chapters of the manga made no sense and resolved nothing. if they make a season 4 they need to have a competent author completely rewrite it.

This shitty ending is a disrespect to your readers. Fuck this hack

Yeah! Fuck him! How were we supposed to expect this!? It's not like he did the exact same thing with his previous manga!

I didn't read Kaguya
I should've listened to you guys but I didn't

I've been a Aka hater since Kaguya-sama ended fuck this hack I hope he never has a another hit ever again

No no, that isn't right. At this point I'm curious how many times he can repeat this.
I hope he has another popular manga and gets a fresh batch of retards to shit on.

Hacka took the "you must envisioned the ending before writing a series" too seriously and stubbornly stuck with it even though it'd make no sense both storywise and logically. Dude probably thought tragedy = automatically kino

no. it's a sin against humanity that this faggot has had two massive hits, both of which he ruined. I'd be he actually believes he's a good writer.

How bad was Kaguya's ending? All I know about that manga was the emphasis on the Ishigami side plot in the second half that went nowhere, then the helicopter rescue.

his problem is he can't do overarching plots, he can only do individual scenes. you could make Aqua dying in self-sacrifice work but how hacka wrote it did not work.

Not nearly as bad, just boring

Dude probably thought tragedy = automatically kino

Well, have you read Instant Bullet

It's pretty telling that the ending makes more sense if you skip from ahead from the first 30 or so chapters to the last 10.

series is nearing the ending

literally every chapter is complete shit and somehow the next chapter is always worse

the ending is also shit

It happens every single fucking time. Japan cannot write endings to ANYTHING.

manga would benefit immensely, if it was 30 to 40-ish chapters long

many such cases

IMO you'd need to make tweaks starting from Mainstay or even Private. Funnily enough, S3 (which starts with Mainstay) isn't coming out until 2026, so they have time.

He killed off Ai in front of her 4 y.o. kid and you think killing off MC was too much? Aqua died because that was the plan all along. The problem lies with the execution.

At the current rate, "Akasaka Aka" is done for as a popular manga author. Perhaps he can try to start over again with a different pen-name, but his style is distinctive enough that he will be found out eventually.

god I wish Aqua and Ruby baby versions would dom me

As someone who is just watching the anime because i took the advice from manga reader, the manga ending is just i stab myself and die, and ruby never finds out.
This is basically what i've gotten from various Anon Babble threads. Why is the ending just so dogshit. what even led up to him trying to suicide?

How many spoilers do you want?

All of them, I wont ever start the manga honestly.

30? You mean 10.

No no, that isn't right. At this point I'm curious how many times he can repeat this.

Rest assured he can't do it anymore. Love Agency got axed and no one is reading his new manga.

brave browser edit-chama...
Why, oh why did we waste so much time on hacka?

Wait wut. He had another series?

Yes. He began it on the middle of OnK and died in the final stretch of OnK. People theorize it was one of the reasons he decided to torpedo OnK out of spite since the quality dropped (even more than it already did) immediately.

Aqua makes a movie about Ai that more or less pinpoints Kamiki as being the one responsible for her death. Ruby plays the role of Ai in the movie, and various other characters from earlier arcs help out in some capacity.
Kana decides to retire as an idol and return to acting full time.
Kamiki's accomplice tries to stab Ruby before Kana's final concert.
'Ruby' is actually Akane wearing a wig and a stab proof vest, and she and Ichigo manage to detain the accomplice.
Aqua confronts Kamiki.
Kamiki points out that Aqua murdering him will ruin Ruby's idol career, as she would be the sister of a murderer.
Aqua, holding a knife without gloves, stabs himself, then tackles Kamiki into the ocean. Somehow Kamiki is unable to dodge or overpower someone bleeding out. They spend about three chapters drowning.
Kamiki's accomplice admits to all the shit that she and Kamiki did, which draws into question why Aqua needed to confront Kamiki to begin with.
The police investigation concludes that Kamiki, angry about the movie, attacked Aqua, and they both fell off the cliff in the struggle.
Akane figures out what really happened, but doesn't tell anyone to protect Aqua's and Ruby's reputations.
Kana slaps Aqua's corpse during his funeral.
Ruby is distraught, but then gets over Aqua's death in the span of two pages and becomes Ai 2.0. The end.

holy shit it was so much worse than i thought. what editor was okay publishing that dogshit

dumbass conspiracy time but what if aka was forced to drop the Japanesse entertainment critique, and also shit the bed because he had nowhere else to take the story? imagine how more fucked up and awful the ending would have been if he didn't do whatever the fuck he did.

Nta, but there were also some "shocking" reveals that retroactively ruin large chunks of the story, even the prologue. For example, Ai's killer was not an incel, but a well adjusted handsome young individual with a hot idol gf(Ai's teammate, Kamiki's accomplice). Ichigo(the president) was aware of this relationship, a direct fucking connection to the killer from his own idol group, and he did fucking nothing with this info for 15+ years. Then, after "Ruby" was attacked he just plainly revealed that he knew about it. And that's it. Fucking genius writing I tell you.

Aka never wanted to criticise anything in depth. It's all puddle-deep bullshit you can find in gossip magazines.

"Wait, I don't have to do this, fuck revenge and drama and shit, I'd rather marry my sister and elope to Hokkaido / Okinawa / Finland"

There, I fixed it.

aka was forced to drop the Japanesse entertainment critique

I doubt it because his "critique" was never more than surface-level trivia (otherwise he would get disappeared).

Don't forget his genius plan of having the police think that Kamiki was the one who stabbed him, except that Aqua was the only one who touched the weapon and he didn't wear any gloves. Oh, and also he stabbed himself before damaging Kamiki in any way, so if Kamiki had even just a single braincell he would have simply walked away while Aqua tried to stumble after him like a retard and ended up collapsing under the weight of his own stupidity.

So was hori's in mha apparently and look what happened there

All he had to do was make the MC fuck his sister, was that so hard?

Kamiki murder cult
Goroball
Secret occult society shenanigans
Necromancer Akane

I left out a lot of other bullshit and unresolved plot threads for brevity.

Also, while Ichigo did nothing with that information for 15 years, and Aqua still thinks that his father is someone else (who died months before Ai did, and thus couldn't have leaked Ai's new address to the killer), Akane figures out the father's real identity in a single chapter.

Aka seems to be an angry depressed man who hates that people enjoy stories that are hopefully and full of tropes even if they are good. This comes out in his appernces hes done for STRG GTA roleplay. Everything me makes ends up like this were it slowly gets more angry and bitter and generally depressing.

his father is someone else (who died months before Ai did,

That was pre-retcon-retcon. He actually died about 8 months before Aqua was even born.

That would track with him wanting to end Kaguya and hinting that he was thinking about giving it a sad ending because he got divorced and no longer believes in the concept of true love

Reminder

60655.png - 1250x233, 24.44K

Oh, right, one particular bit of bullshit I did want to add:
There was a LN focused on Akane and Kana that was released about a month after the manga finished. This LN casually mentioned that Akane's dad was a senior police detective, which is never brought up in the manga itself despite how much of a game changer it would be if Aqua had someone like that on his side.

guys I heard A** shits in diapers no joke

The thing is, OnK actually has a happy if inconclusive ending if you stop at chapter 157. The last nine chapters are somewhere between neglectful and written out of spite.

I don’t think he was forced to since his critique was on the same level as the ones you read everywhere.
Aka had two big problems with the manga: he was bullshitting his way through the story (especially on the second half) and got so sidetracked that he had to force everything just so the ending he always wanted could happen. And second, he is a retard who gets distracted and bored too quickly. Seeing him preparing TWO different series while Oshi no Ko was still being published should be a massive red flag to avoid his ass forever

80.jpg - 420x413, 66.39K

Is anyone even reading Marchen Crown? Most of the discussion I saw when it first released was just people (rightfully) shitting on Aka, and pre-empting him fucking up the ending.

Makes sense
All of his works were picked out fresh out of his diaper, kek

hows his new series faring?

like the shit in his diaper, not that solid

and on the nip side?

The author deserves the same fate as Aqua.

an even shittier diaper

more like diaper-shitting baby Aqua

It is pretty ignored. There is a dedicated hatereading community over at animan, those guys are not going to spend money on anything Aka related.

any funny highlights? salesnumbers? I'd feel bad for him if he learned to take some ritalin or something and fucking focus

salesnumbers?

No volume has come out yet.

Anime only here. Please don't have your OP with spoilers.

Why was Kamiki standing near the cliff to begin with? You'd think a bigshot in the entertainment industry would be able to procure tickets to an idol concert, especially one for an idol group that starred in a movie that he was one of the sponsors of.

It barely has any discussion. Some are still waiting for the hook

salesnumbers?

In a few months, the first volume isn't even announced yet.
As far as I remember, it was doing not-good-not-terrible readership-wise in the YoungJump app around a month ago.
But as far as community engagement goes, it is as good as dead. For example, there are around ~30 tweets for every chapter. If you filter out the automated tweets and the negative comments, it seems there are only a handful of accounts that at least enjoy the manga on some level. Perhaps the fans are just super shy or something.

As anime-only reading this thread... All the reddit tier cope about Season 2 being boring as fuck and nothing like the first didn't age well at all.

Why the hell did Aka kill the protagonist for an ending? What the fuck was he thinking? Did he just pull this for cheap shock value? This shitty ending is a disrespect to your readers. Fuck this hack

He wanted despair disguised as hope.
A reminder Mengo is still salty about the way OnK ended.

He killed off Ai in front of her 4 y.o. kid and you think killing off MC was too much? Aqua died because that was the plan all along. The problem lies with the execution.

Actually this. However Hacka didn't plan Ai, neither her death at the beginning.
Aqua as a character was too stuck into his mommy issues fueled revenge path since being a kid. So i'm not buying that shit about dying for Ruby's sake. She disowned him as Aqua and he was ok with that because it meant another obstacle left. Shit went convoluted when Ruby realized Aqua was Gorou tho and started to talk again. Aqua wanted to push everybody away and kill himself. Simple as.
Hacka just went Isayama tier of spiteful mangaka because he wanted to maie reader suffer as much as he is suffering in life.

Ruby is distraught, but then gets over Aqua's death in the span of two pages and becomes Ai 2.0.

That's the contradiction. If she became Ai 2.0 it means she DIDN'T get over Aqua's death and is just drifting as a corpse who's waiting for managers to let her go once her shine as an idol wears off woth age. You have to pick up her not losing her white star when talking to her deceased family. She's just larping because she's just dead inside.
The final page implies she was gonna off herself.

He's trying to save you from finishing this pointless anime

He shall give up on manga, own to his word and become a farmer in an inaka boon. Mayhaps he could find a cute chubby lard there and start to "heal" (unless he ends up becoming a farmer in a run down and shady town taken from Boy's Abyss or Blood on the tracks).

Hacka just went Isayama tier of spiteful mangaka because he wanted to maie reader suffer as much as he is suffering in life.

huh?

you can't kill a character because... you simply can't ok???

Zoomer can't survive without their fictional friends.

The aqua dying thing would have been better if they just framed it as I will stab myself in a non lethal spot using my doctors knowledge. Then it doesn't feel as retarded. Oh wait I can't swim oh shit.
His plan being dying just made it dumb.

How was Instant Bullet?

There's a lot of works with great endings or even better endings that elevate the series.

Freesia

Houseki no Kuni

Spirit Circle

Shin Sekai Yori

End of Evangelion

For a shonen example, Code Geass

The list goes on

Aka is going through his edgy rebellious teen phase right now. In a few years, he will look back and realise how cringe he was.

The last two being actually real and canon is so comical I can't believe it. Akane talking about crow loli's magic and then deciding to learn to raise Aqua from the dead. Where's the urban fantasy Necromancer Akane spinoff?

He also constantly failed to execute what he wanted. Kana for example is a completely failed character that seems like the designated winner for 99% of the story but comes off as completely pathetic and useless as a character, on the other hand Akane is clearly written as a sidegirl but is so competent, spotlight-stealing and active as an agent of plot development that Aka has to write her out so she doesn't solve the plot in seconds. It gets even worse when you get to the additional (canon) material that shows she has a detective father and things like that. She could have actually solved the plot like nothing. Hell her bullshit Ruby impersonation stunt got the accomplice caught and she spilled the beans about Kamiki anyways so that entire Aqua plan was irrelevant.

This seems like a situation where he thought out the ending first, even having that one panel shown in the first ED song video, but completely botched the journey it would take for Aqua to make that decision. I can see a different story where Aqua sacrificing himself for his sister would make an effective ending, but Aka completely lost track of where the story was to make that ending actually work.

It's not just the journey in terms of character motivation but he didn't manage to write in a plot that would force Aqua to do that. In fact the rest of the plot undermines it a lot

The accomplice would have confessed anyways

Kamiki's reputation was in shambles and they would have found out all the murders if they investigated him, which they would given the movie.

Akane's father is even a detective so he would be personally interested in the case.

Aqua always had a pretty sacrificial / suicidal personality but it was executed horribly

Aka is going through his edgy rebellious teen phase right now

Seriously? I thought he is over 30yo and is going under a severe midlife crisis.

Aqua always had a pretty sacrificial / suicidal personality but it was executed horribly

He comes off as a whiny, petty and selfish manbaby who only wants to go with mama as a result.

. in fact the whole last 40ish chapters of the manga made no sense and resolved nothing

It was going down a lot longer than that. In my opinion, the story divebombed off a cliff after the twins revealed themselves to each other. After that point, the story is just dumb.

I do think OnK is his last big title. Love Agency got cancelled and that fantasy manga of his isn't making any waves at all

You also left out the twincest angle that was brought up, then completely abandoned as if it never happened, then brought up again in a big way before being abandoned again.

It was going down a lot longer than that. In my opinion, the story divebombed off a cliff after the twins revealed themselves to each other. After that point, the story is just dumb.

It was already a major plot issue that the twins didn't reveal themselves to each other like, at the very start of the story. There was no reason for them not to suspect the truth and the plot was kinda abandoned and left in suspension until it was suddenly brought back at the very end
The manga's subplots feel completely truncated and it was funny seeing all the different shipfags duke it out in the threads because in a way they were all correct, pretty much every ship was written like it was going to be the main one and all of them had writing issues and then the plot shoehorned this end that left them all hanging. Aside from Necromancer Akane I guess but that's so out of left field and unbelievable.

Aka is so shit at drama, he made Mari Okada writing's look like Shakespeare. Let's be real here, this soulless motherfucker does not care about feelings, he writes shit as if it was a 9-5 job and the moment he runs out of fucks to give, he would sack the whole work and got back on playing Apex like nothing happened. This dude ain't a genius, he became famous because he was good at baitng people in the first place, but he has no idea on how to turn an idea into a proper story.

He has no idea of how to go from a premise, a pitch, or the concept of a scene to actually including it in the story.

Does Mengo still want to draw the doujin? I haven’t heard anything about it since December. Maybe she’s done with OnK

unironically this. all she fucking did was suffer from beginning to end she needed a happy ending.

Like seriously, was it so hard to push Kamiki off the cliff and then stab himself is a non-lethal spot and claim he killed Kamiki in self-defense?

He didn't need to confront Kamiki at all, they literally caught his accomplice which would have either confessed or let the police start an investigation which would have instantly incriminated Kamiki. It'd be a high profile case due to the movie too. There was 0 reason for that confrontation.

with some luck maybe her doujin will be the storyboard of season 4

The writing is pretty immature and tryhard. Thematically it’s pretty similar to OnK’s ending specifically but is much more straightforward and honest in its approach

the story divebombed off a cliff after the twins revealed themselves to each other

that was about 40 chapters from the end I think. that's basically what I meant. 121-123 was the last really good scene and if I could rewrite the story I would start right after that.

to be devil's advocate, supposedly he had remained clean by only manipulating other people into murder. I don't know how the law works in Japan but in the US I'm pretty sure you'd still get "accessory to murder" or something.
if 15 different people all said he instigated them to commit murder I doubt they'd just let him walk.

143 was the last somewhat good chapter

Pretty sure being the mastermind of a murder scheme would still land you in insane trouble.

Terribly incoherent mess from a mind of an angsty teenager. Quite a few people liked it, I guess the writing was raw and sincere enough to resonate, coupled with a vague feeling of great potential curbed by editors or author's inexperience or whatnot. There's no way Aka can write like this now even if he really gets around to continuing/rebooting it

that was the Ruby/Aqua scene right? I liked it at the time because of the ship war but in retrospect it was still not that well written. they had loads of shit between them that needed to be addressed and it didn't address a fraction of them. basically there were some funny gags and then Ruby confessed (again) and Aqua still somehow avoided giving a real response.
they needed to talk about shit like their trauma over Ai and Aqua's trauma Goro ghost and how he'd been an emotionless husk for the last 10 years, and also the marriage promise was never brought up then or ever afterward. it was just more shipper bait really.

What you said is mostly the issue of the story not addressing the issue events of 143 in any real way
The actual problem with that chapter is that Aka basically just rushed Aqua and Ruby’s development in one chapter. In retrospect it’s a bad chapter because it was basically a bait, and Aka refused to address their relationship afterwards is what makes a chapter like 157 bad

I can see its appeal then, sometimes a very edgy but honest plot can be super appealing as a guilty pleasure. Like Sekai Oni or something like that. So weird he started like that and ended up in Kaguya and OnK.

Some parts of the story feel completely disconnected with the overall direction. 143 basically never got addressed the plot basically acted like it wasn't real. A lot of the girls got stuff like this. Akane being sidelined by the plot (probably to prevent her from taking over the manga and solving the main conflict singlehandedly), Kana being whatever Kana was, etc. All of the SoL / character driven parts looked very disconnected from the main plot.

it felt like constant hype-bait. kind of like how Murata writes One Punch Man except in drama form. there's no coherent greater vision for the work, just individual chapters meant to appeal to the audience in one way or another. Aka repeatedly pumped and dumped Kanafags the same way he did to Rubyfags. he never knew what he was actually going to do with either of those plot threads, maybe didn't care, he was always just baiting us.

constant

hype ran out in season 1

I'm still convinced the previous chapter where the two mangaka have to gaslight Aqua into doing the kiss scene was some meta commentary from Aka, he himself never planned for the incest to get physical in any way but Mengo and his editor convinced him he had to take responsibility for writing an incest side-plot so he at least has to make them kiss once

You just need the minimum amount of suspicion and the nip justice will beat Kamiki's twink ass into confessing.

The epilogue chapters were actually great, now the final serious plot arc was woke dogshit. Funniest thing is, Kaguya was always able to resolve the drama herself but just... didn't. I guess the arc couldn't have happened otherwise.

Aka probably had incest planned from the start, since he probably wanted to hook in Mengo with something spicy to draw his dogshit story for him. But funniest thing is that Mengo still wasn’t satisfied with what she got and Hacka was full of of hot air when he wrote his and Mengo’s totally-not-self-inserts talking about writer’s responsibility when the hack literally treated 143 as if it never existed

IMG_5759.jpg - 1200x1689, 320.78K

This chapter is even funnier with how the movie ended being a wet fart and we saw no reactions to it. Alongside the whole thing of painting Kamiki as the victim.

Aka probably had incest planned from the start

Only as bait but he never planned to do anything with it

Mengo still wasn’t satisfied with what she got

obviously not. no Rubyfag was anything but disgusted by what we got.

Pretty much every girl had their plotline end badly, Akane definitely got the best send off out of the 3 and got cemented as the best option for Aqua, but the occult ending was completely out there and it looks like some fantasy plot that got tacked into the story out of nowhere.

Did they ever reveal what was on Ai's video to Ruby?

I would have agreed if Mengo wasn’t involved. She obviously would have preferred a more elaborated take on their relationship which didn’t happen, and Hacka pretty much said he said he wrote the story to satisfy Mengo. Either Hacka was lying and he was just trying to stroke his ego or he was a too big of a coward to actually do anything with it

People think it was the video letter in the prologue, but it makes no damn sense considering how it doesn't seem something that would be directed to Ruby unlike the DVD about Kamiki that was directed to Kekqua.

Ai:

Aqua, here is your mission.

Ruby ... just stay healthy I guess, ok?

don't shoehorn your delusions into our nice conversation Akanefag

I think incestfags woukd have liked the ending more if Aka made Aqua admit his feelings for Ruby even if everything else stays the same

Hacka pretty much said he said he wrote the story to satisfy Mengo

Mengo likes fucked up relationships and pure fated love getting cucked, even that one imcest os she wrote ended with the sister getting NTRd

even that one imcest os she wrote ended with the sister getting NTRd

What?

also didnt this guy trying making a new romance sries right when oshi no ko was starting to to go shit, only for this new series to keel over almost instantly?

also didnt this guy trying making a new romance sries right when oshi no ko was starting to to go shit, only for this new series to keel over almost instantly?

Yes. And then OnK went even more to shit by the time the axing got announced as if it were out of spite.

If there's one thing I can give hacka credit for it's the idea doctors should kill themselves. He was a visionary during the coof.

What

The one incestfags used to post all the time about an idol an her brother, in the story the brother ends up fucking another girl while the sister hears the moans from outside his room, almost everything Mengo has ever written has some NTR element to it

is it really mean spirited, like jesus christ whats wrong with you levels of spite?

OnK has a happy if inconclusive and obviously axed ending if you stop at chapter 38. That's the moment this kuso peaked.

Autistic people have idiosyncratic development periods.

Is it ethical for idols to fuck other girls?

Upon rereading you can see how aka essentially wrote four stories layering the chapters on top of each other. Every time a girl had focus it wasn't written in a harem style but like she was the only "real" heroine and the others were sideshows that wouldn't ever try in that draft of the story. Imagine Kaguya except every other chapter Aka wrote it like other girls were winning the Shirogane bowl. Only Kana's final baseball date felt like there was an attempt to connect it to the rest.

The most contrived bunch was Ruby being completely separate from Akane and Kana. The beach chapters were the most shameless at it.

She could have actually solved the plot like nothing

She more or less did. After waiting fruitlessly for six months for Aqua to do basic fact checking () and finally realise the loophole that she discovered in seconds, she finally decides to look for Aqua's real father and finds the bastard in a fucking week. Plus her ability to read and analyse people borders on clairvoyance towards the end. Her learning necromancy () or otherwise getting involved in the occult bullshit honestly feels like a natural evolution of her character with how ridiculously good she is at almost everything.

Akane's big misstep at the end was trying to throw Kana at Aqua to get him to call off his revenge, instead of LARPing as Ai again and wrapping him around her finger.

The funniest thing is Akane

predicting Nino would attack at the day of the concert

that she would go to Ruby's home and not the venue

that she would not notice anything amiss with the lack of people or "Ruby" opening the door immediately

that she would aim at the vest and not somewhere else like the head or the neck

Muh realism and true nature of humans.

God, I wish I had a beautiful, ride or die, good at everything gf

Kekqua being a faggot and wasting her was the worst insult.

I'll help you kill them

was the best moment.
