There's a big weakness with that and it's the same issue with Subaru. The loop only happens if either Al or his target dies, so Reinhard incapacitating Al will break the loop easily.

Roswaal's ideal outcome seems to be something like, let Betty die to accept that sacrifices have to be made or otherwise force her out of the archive by telling her Subaru is "they" and making her into a useful tool, doing the trials himself in place of Emilia to make her utterly reliant on him and at the same time proving his own resolve, and then maybe beating up Garfiel or something, who knows. There's an IF story that has Subaru resolve things in a manner Roswaal seems to find completely acceptable that covers most of these points.

Re Zero has an absolute metric fuckton of tiny little details. The anime does not do a great job of showing all of them or addressing them explicitly even if tiny things are there. Like in the first season did you pick up that the thugs were hunting Subaru and he can't avoid them? Because they are. You have to pay attention to one line where he says it's an unavoidable encounter (without a prior line of him saying he's taking a different route or something) or maybe have autism that the backgrounds are slightly different and that Felt/Emilia don't show up again when they presumably would if it was the same place.

The announcement poster for S3 included Arc 6 characters and locations on it while all other posters included only things from that season's arcs (and the novels were doing arc 7/8 at the time so you can't say it was just being topical). Additionally in the countdown for the season Meili is featured who otherwise doesn't appear in Arc 5 and she's in her Arc 6 attire. So there's a lot of smoke that Arc 6 is in the works. Whether they classify it as S4 or part of this one we don't know. To fit with the "39 episode" rumors further rumors speculate two cours of 11 episodes so 22 + these 16 (really more like 18 with the long first episode) = 38-40.
