I don't think your own nen can hurt you until it is emitted. Razor's ball is emitted then hit, while Franklin's finger guns just emit aura directly.
An example I can think of to support this is when Gon is being trained by Bisky and she never mentions any recoil or enhancing of Gon's hands during emitter training.
Emitters having to protect from their own aura like Genthru for regular attacks would immediately make them the worst nen category.

My headcanon is also that these markings are how you train your conjuration category. You pour nen into a physical object using special markings; otherwise you would have to waste your memory limit conjuring pointless tiny objects as practice.

This is not the Divine Script, but an Inscription (we don't know if those are facets of the same technique but it's quite likely). It's also used on Knov's master key and the GI rings, so it's probably a way of storing, instructing or computing Nen abilities.

Both Razor and Silva would have to use transmutation to make their aura explosive then use manipulation to trigger the explosion on impact. It seems more likely that they both just use large amount of raw nen that has lots of destructive force.
The only example of Razor's ball exploding is when it hits the Troupe's boat. This would most likely be it crushing the engine and it exploding from the impact.

This was written when the only villains revealed in the manga were Hisoka and Illumi.

I always imagined Manipulation training as moving your own aura around your body—like taking a chunk of aura from your hand and moving it to your foot, then to your head. It’s similar to Pip-Play, but without the shaping aspect from Transmutation.

No filler bullshitting around, just murder, mafia, and revenge. This arc gets straight to the action and gives Kurapika plenty of room to shine and do cool shit. Gon and Killua are relegated to the background this arc which greatly improves the reading experience.

Chimera Ants

Great premise and Palace Invasion is the height of the series, but there's so much shitty filler that has nearly no impact on the plot early on that it's overall ranking suffers for it. Kite's gang of retards could be cut and the story would be greatly improved.

Has a couple cool moments like Razor and the bomber murders, but suffers from pretty much just being a training arc with bisky being an annoying turd the whole way.

I've only read the manga and my opinion stands. Pre-palace invasion CA isn't awful but is much worse than current succession war shenanigans or the entirety of york new. I understand that there were a lot of things to set up but succession war is a clear example that you can set up things while keeping the story engaging, you don't have to choose one or the other.
Genthru is shit and is somehow even worse than YYH villains. Greed Island definitely doesn't have the same "main arc" feel that Yorkshin and Chimeras have, it's actually kind of like the Hunter Exam where there wasn't exactly a main antagonist and it was all about just passing the exam and then GI is just about beating the game. I do kind of like that Greed Island wraps back around to Gon being frustrated about the player mentality at the beginning of the arc and just wanting to enjoy the game - The patch of shore/forest cards should have been the endgame bosses for the arc but instead that gets subverted by having to deal with some asshole that's playing the game in a shitty way.
A common agreement is that people don't have much of a problem with Genthru and it's more about it his buddies, coming right after the Yorkshin arc The Bomber trio just pales in comparison the troupe.

Maybe using Risky Dice means you get cards that have a drop rate of 2% to .1% and that the drop rate for an SS rank card is something like .001%. I mean the chances there could be quite different but still it remains that getting an S or SS rank card is probably something closer to actually winning the lottery than just getting a good drop.

My major complaint with the end of Greed Island was Gon simply winning the comprehensive quiz. I get that he and Killua played the game "pure" a lot more than the other meta fags, but when you had pages of minor characters talking about how all sorts of weird card interact with each other, it really does seem like those meta-players would have more knowledge about the cards in general.

Instead they all could have worked together to help Gon fill in the quiz.

Kurapika developed all the abilities he had during the Yorknew arc. He’s probably improved a decent amount since then, but likely not substantially.

Transmuters can like, give their aura special properties...but Specialists can give their aura even specialer properties!

If Kurapika doesn’t die at the end of this arc because of his restriction, then Togashi is a hack. He has lost a large portion of his life already.

He has probably still improved the amount of aura he can use, how long his Ren lasts, and his control though. His Hatsu aren't likely to be considerably stronger, though he could probably use Judgement Chain without being in Emperor Time now, but his raw strength should have improved. Even just training Ten and Ren every day should have gotten him more growth than the troupe would have gotten over that time.

I doubt he will lose due to his lifespan running out. I think it's more likely for him to die from Chain Jail's restriction. I fully expect that to happen, and us to see post mortem Chain Jail.

For one thing any situation where he would use Chain Jail against someone that isn't in the troupe would require the heightened emotions that are also required for post mortem nen, and Chain Jail is his most active and fitting ability for post mortem nen. Judgement Chain is rather limited in how it would curse someone, Steal Chain is a single use, Holy Chain isn't something you would attack with, and Dowsing Chain isn't really a curse type ability.
