Is it just me or has the animation this season been genuinely kinda impressive? Re:Zero has never really looked particularly amazing imo. Mostly just looking mediocre or even kinda bad, but this season has looked quite good. Sometimes even outright impressive. It feels like S3 has been given an actual budget.

Emilia is worst girl (or at least not best), because it's hard to envision a scenario where she pins Subaru down and rapes him until she gets pregnant.

Rem however, would easily fit in such a scenario, therefore making her better.

From what I can tell, when Sphinx transforms into Echidna, she is taking on the form of the corpse in the Sanctuary, not the dream Echidna. We know this because Roswaal and Beatrice comment it looks like her but is a fake, while Emilia thinks Sphnix is Echidna's sister. This is a comment she made about the corpse when she saw it, as Emilia and Subaru are only familiar with Dream Dona. Subaru also notes that Sphinx looks different but doesn't mistake her for Echidna at all.

Arbitrator Melakuera cared about nothing more than maintaining peace and order. He cared greatly about the ancient rules he adhered to, as he refused to break them even if they were an inconvenience to him. He neglected to intervene in the sacred contracting between Emilia and Puck despite the problems he likely knew it would cause him. He was willing to go to any lengths in order to protect the world from darkness, even if it meant sacrificing the lives of innocents to do so. Melakuera seemed to only care about inflicting his brand of justice when the world was in danger, as he cared little for minor injustices committed by petty criminals. He was even willing to work with criminals to further his goals, such as when he formed a contract with the bandit Chap.

Emilia is unironically ruining the show. Even with a director change the amount of favoritism to her over the core story and world is insane. If there's an Emilia scene or line it can't be cut no matter what, anything and everything else goes first. The only exception are lines she can't say because they've already cut the lines from someone else that she would respond to to make room for lines she's saying on her own. The effect of this is more profound than you would think. It means Emilia fundamentally monologues at people, because lines she says on her own initiative are kept, the other person's responses are cut off and so any back and forth is eliminated. She doesn't converse, as presented. This desperate ploy that thinks screentime = people must care is paradoxically detrimental. In the previous example it makes her scenes stilted and offputting in a way that most people probably won't consciously recognize.

Secondly this means we get to see every boring moment and inane thought that pops into Emilia's head, while we don't get that for anyone else. It reveals her for as boring and uninteresting as she really is without abridgement while every other character is cut down to just highlights (in fact a common complaint is that they're undercooked and people care because they feel like there should be something more there. And their instincts are correct, there is more there that was cut primarily to stuff Emilia in wherever possible)

Doing things this way hurts every other character and the show as a whole, even Emilia herself. She would be better served by smaller focused scenes that are rarer and dig down to the few core issues she has. Which is at least partially how she was used in the WN up to this point, with most of the worst scenes she had in the anime being LN original editions to try and justify her existence in a misguided attempt to force popularity.

Echidna has very few scenes, but because of that it leaves people wanting more and wondering when she'll come back or in what context. Nobody ever wants more Emilia after her scenes end or cares what she's doing at any given moment. There's no mystery or desire for her because every time you see her she says everything on her mind, it's all surface level because she's basically a child, and the scene ends. Nothing to look forward to. In the rare instances she does make some proud declaration of future intent you will find yourself burned over and over. Going to save her father? Forgotten. Going to fix problems created by the cult? Forgotten. Finally going to lead the camp in her own right and take her place as the candidate? Ha ha, good joke, Petra leads more than her. Not even a meme. Going to stay by Subaru and finally talk thing out? 5 loops. I will love him eventually? 4 arcs and counting.

This is actually why I think Arc 7/8 might be better and well received than people on here think. Emilia has no place. They would have to invent scenes just to check on her, which they probably won't spend the effort doing. They can't use their crutch of just having Emilia stare blankly at situations for minutes at a time, they have to fill the time with the other characters. And that will probably be to the series' benefit as a whole. Rem's presence is missed and whether you think the series has gotten up to cooler stuff since her coma or not you can't say her presence before was detrimental. I suspect with Emilia that won't be the case. Better events will be happening and scenes will flow smoother with more characterization for everyone involved and you can place it firmly on scenes not being obligated to jump over to check on what Emilia is doing (the answer is usually nothing)
