probably
Why remake it though the orginal was good but was the anime any good?
was the anime any good?
not really
I remember being mad af because the main bad guy from the first arc's power broke the pattern of "turning something into something else with condition"
also the main girl's power is literally the best I have seen in a nattle shonen.
He was just given an absurdly broken and exploitable power.
only 3 pages worth of threads in the archives
Yeah, it's time for a remake
yeah but bubbles? how the fuck do they work?
I forgot the specifics but they soft-retconned the explanation for his power once the sacred treasures were introduced. IIRC his power was actually making things lighter or heavier and the bubbles were just one possible application.
His power wasn't just bubbles.
Oh right, it was even more OP.
Meanwhile the MC had garbage powers.
I know but it's funny trying to figure out his power in his first fight. like wtf did he change into the bubbles and why can they control gravity and shit
The interesting premise gets thrown out a third of the way in when the MC and the antagonist are revealed to be super special angels and get ten super powers that don't really have anything to do with their original abilities anyway.
His Lv2 was pretty neat.
I wonder if the sequel is going to be mentioned or acknowledged.
"O my seven quirks" for millennials
Those were the days.
Garbage powers >>>> OP non garbage powers
I remember being very confused about his power back then.
Best part of the manga was the fight against the child soldier unit.
Extremely good and likeable enemies, actually good applications of their powers and the reveal of GLASSES.
It was really fun.
wait if his power is just enhancing object then where do the bubbles come from?
Nips can't stop themselves. It's their crack cocaine, they can't do rags to riches, they have to do rags (secretly blessed by the heavens and destined for greatness all along) to riches.
Unseen bubble blower.
and the reveal of GLASSES
Mori won hard that, especially when the final boss acknowledged that her power was one of the strongest lol
Turning trash into trees was fucking rad, and it was fun seeing him get creative with it in battles. Makes you wonder how he went from that to a fucking stretchable mop in the sequel manga. Like it's quirky, sure, but it's something a one-off character would have.
The conditions were insane, but it was absolute.
Trees are inherently cooler than mops. Maybe he could’ve turned the mop back into a tree with enough bullshit training.
GLASSES
god was that a hilarious power, from the fact the gang had to figure out whatvever the fuck it is to the absurb condition and the convuluted way that she fulfilled it.
Battle shonen authors are pressured to one-up themselves the longer a series runs and making their MCs progressively larger than life is one of the ways to do it. That’s one of the reasons I prefer shorter series nowadays, there’s less time for that development to happen.
And then they managed to pull it off.. and it worked too.
Simply fantastic.
It was ok, but had the problem where the manga had a good balance of comedy and battle action and the anime lean way more the latter. Took away some of it's soul. Adore the 1st opening of it tho, and still listen to the instrumental version when working out.

Funnily it only took five volumes for Ueki to do it so it was either pre-planned or the author really didn't know what he was doing. I think ultimately it was done in an enteraining way even though knowing that Ueki was going to pull a new power out of his ass each time to deal with the current situation did suck up any tension. His normalfag teammates ended up being the ones you never knew if and how they'd pull a win off.

Catchy as hell.
Yeah doing that development so early in the story was what was so unpalatable at first, but I can appreciate that Ueki tried to use the celestial tools in creative ways as the story went on. I just wish the trees weren’t sidelined as hard as they were.
tbf to the tree, ueki's tools all have tree root to stabilize them. the author could have put that all celestial team earlier in the story to showcase how different ueki's tools are compare to normal
I forgot about that but it would’ve been funny if he could do that because he considered the tools to be partially garbage.
This 4koma was a funny callback to the first chapter where Ueki was asked if he was interested in any girl, and he said yes. We never got the answered to who the person was in the main series, but here in Plus he tells Mori that the girl is her to then quickly take it back by saying that that was a lie.
I think this got translated during the last storytime
I enjoyed this mangaka's last work, but oh god did he drop the ball hard by adding a love triangle so late into the story. It didn't need it or the upcoming drama caused by it.
Are you talking about Ponkutsu or Golden Spiral? I haven’t finished either.
oh wow, an anon actually got to doing them all in 2021. Thanks for the heads up.
I was thinking of Ponkutsu when I made that post, but it looks like that wasn't actually his last work. Just the one that's still getting translated currently. My bad for the confusion.
I don't think Golden Spiral really had any romance in it at all
