I'm not sure if there's a Japanese animated media that's a better discussion piece or has more complex themes than shinsekai yori.

Squealer did nothing wrong
Ghost in the Shell
Welcome to the NHK
there are hundreds if not thousands, try
He lost!
GiTs is Asimov fanfiction, shinsekai yori is more original with it's themes
Surface level Oshi yapping
It's higher concept than people realize.
A lot of dumbs get angry at it not realizing it's dystopian.
Not even close.
LOGH
what if....EVERYONE was a rapist psychopath??!!
Damn, Riveting stuff.
Not even close.
How so? GiTs is typical "does ai have consciousness" with some Theseus ship mixed in, both widely popular concepts. Shinsekai Yori is about the struggle to maintain a functioning society where each member has the power of a god, squeler's uprising is just one of the more generic crowd pleasing storylines
SSY is about how tech can't build a better human nature.
GITS is about evolutionary biology.
Is it worth watching even if I know the plot twist?
Kinda hoped I'd forget but never did.
Sure, it has more going for it than just the twist
Non-LN Book adaption
One of the better anime
Every time!
SSY is like a good twilight zone idea dragged out to 24 episodes.
Is that based or cringe?
Mostly bad. I found the worldbuilding and characterization pretty tedious when the sci-fi and allegory could have been presented more straightforwardly in a much shorter format.
I was traumatized by the yuri scene in SSY
SSY is a masterpiece
So? From the New World can be considered a remux of the themes in Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. Everything that came before draws from and is inspired by the works of the past.
He had free access to Maria's Marias for a little under a year, I'd draw that up as a win and move on.
not OP but "go to Anon Babble"cucks aren't getting clicks from me
Yeah, the blunt physical drama the yuri in this show inflicted on my member is heinous. It still remembers to this day.
This. Moral of the story is every human is just one superpower away from being a mass rapist.
Oh My manko
Yeah, SSY has some great ideas but kinda misses the mark with the execution/pacing of them. It's the kind of show which at times is more interesting to discuss than watch (with some exceptions, there's a couple of truly great scenes).
there isnt
This was a euphemism for white people for when mutts evolve above them btw
desu Shinsekai Yori isn't that much more complex than your average YA dystopian novel like Hunger Games or Garth Nix stuff
Squealer did plenty wrong, but so did basically everyone else in this story.
did the judges knew that what squealer was saying was true and just wanted to pretend it wasn't or were they ignorant?
Dystopian
Utopian*
/thread.
Given his hand? His experiences? His education?
Nah.
He did beyond well given his context.
No losing is doing nothing at all.
Resistance at all is a win.
It's hell full on in this from memory. I wasn't expecting it to critique moral relativity like that. That was well beyond my expectations for this show.
they were maliciously indifferent
You could say the same about everyone in this story, don't make excuses only for Squealer.
only flaw is its awkward pacing midway through, chalk it up to being an adaptation
