This triggered Toriyama

Toriyama’s hatred for romance and ChiChi was so weird

What I find weird was Toriyama's insistence that Goku doesn't give a shit about his kids or grand daughter

What’s so weird about it? He’s a fight obsessed moron, it’s perfectly in character for him.

Toei improved DBZ massively even back in the day. I can't wait until they get to be in full control again without following any of the nu-Toriyama outlines and ideas.

Toei's gonna lose Dragon ball, man.

It's weird because Goku clearly gave a shit about Gohan in the manga and realized he fucked up when Picollo calls him out on healing Cell for Gohan to fight. I get Goku not being good at raising kids but that doesn't mean he wouldn't still love or care about them or fucking forget them

He has his moments, but Toriyama always intended for him to be someone "who does good things, but is not a good person".

And that Dragon Ball is a gag manga.

What was weirder was Tori's obsession with Goku not caring about his loved ones, even though him seeing Krillin get killed was the whole reason he unlocked his super saiyan form. The whole scene with the Father-Son Kamehameha also feels pretty weird when you consider that Goku isn't actually supposed to give a shit about his family.

And that Dragon Ball is a gag manga.

You're coping really hard if you need to use this as an argument.

even though him seeing Krillin get killed was the whole reason he unlocked his super saiyan form

He was just upset that he lost another sparring partner

I honestly think Toriyama just forgot how he wrote Goku originally - he's admitted to forgetting shit in the past

Well, it started that way, anyway. Then Toriyama accidentally found out he's good at fighting and kinda reluctantly had to keep doing it.

this happened during when Toriyama wanted more "free reign" on his ideas

forgets

He was dead when Goten was conceived and born.

Goku didn't know Chi Chi was pregnant before he sacrificed himself

forgetting the last sex you had

Goku is pathetic

Vegeta IV.jpg - 828x777, 591.04K

To be fair, he has no sex drive, and theres a very good chance Chi Chi just humped him in his sleep.

Toei filler

He's kissless bitch.
Move on.

He’s a fight obsessed moron,

Hey, look, another idiot who got fooled by memes!
TeamFunnyStar really did untold damage a generation, huh?

said the virgin

FUCK
TORIYAMA

Not TFS silly, Toriyama himself. He said the Z anime made him too heroic and noble, so he promised to fix it with Super.

To be fair Toriyama is the one that said Goku is a terrible father and that he doesn't care about his family despite that not really being seen in the original manga

he just got flanderized to hell in super. Goku was never stupid; he was ignorant and naive. Hell Roshi made notable efforts to make him more well rounded and taught him all kinds of scholastic skills like reading and math along with general life and people skills. A big part of DB was him becoming more worldly and informed. Between his time with Roshi and Chi Chi (who was a romantic dreamer) the idea of something like he didn't know what a kiss was is just silly and makes for a weak gag

Only the anime made Goku heroic

SENILEyama strikes again.

Krillin couldn't even give Goku a decent warm-up at that point, Freeza randomly bad-mouths Krillin during their fight to get a cheap rise out of Goku and he gets pissed off, and by the end of the fight Goku mentions Krillin was his best friend again as why he is so pissed.

Vegeta's speech was never about Saiyan pride in the original, just that Frieza ruined his life.

Heroically rebuking his evil and cruel opponent.

Toriyama: "I'm not a hero, BTW.(raughs)".

There are dumbasses that let TFS form their image of Goku yes, but if you gotta read Toriyama's interviews he made years after the original manga ended, the way he talks about Goku is crazy, as if he never, ever drew any of the pages where Goku is actually caring for his friends and family.

In his older years Toriyama warped Goku in his mind as some kind of ubersmech that is completely detached from anything, a fighting deity who's all about the next battle.

Which is fine. Its more interesting then another squeaky clean shonen hero.

It's like the latter episodes of The Simpsons where Homer doesn't know how to read for a quick, forgettable gag that goes against the series' history. Yes, it's funny at the moment, but it forever sells out the character.

No, it's not.
It'd be fine if the story actually treated him as a sociopath that is only concerned with fighting for fun and doesn't care about his family and friends, but the manga does go out of its way to paint Goku as a heroic figure and loving father, which heavily clashes with the modern visions that Toriyama had regarding Goku. It's not "interesting" or unique, it's just contradictory.

loving father

When? In the manga specifically.

Goku took Gohan out fishing which is something everyone forgets, and yes, this is mentioned in the manga. It's extremely clear that Toriyama just forgot about this stuff and wanted to write Goku as a battle-hungry retard, which is what we get in Super and Daima.

Raditz kidnaps Gohan

Goku is yelling at him not to do that

He went to fight Raditz to save Gohan

Not to 'WAKU WAKU, SUGEEE Raditz is strong! I'm getting excited!"

Did that jog your memory?

Perhaps, but the end result is alot better. Besides, making Goku a lousy person makes Vegeta's transition to genuine good person and hero more impactful by comparison.

boomer authors couldn't pull the 60s osomatsu-san style comedy gag, they tried but they still somehow ended up putting more story than gag

Part of me thinks you’re not shitposting

"Goku went to save Gohan because he would miss his sparing partner, raughs"

yama.jpg - 686x757, 57.26K

This hug was skipped over in the anime by the way, an actual case where manga Goku is more caring than he is in the anime.

I'm not.

Still better than cuckjita, the worthless piece of shit that literally didn't care if trunks and bulma died.

That's quite literally, never happening.

I AM SUPER PAJEETO

Toyotaro is making his moves already.

Sad virgin.

I Don't remember the last time I had sex either.

However, I'm constantly reminded of the time I received my participation trophy aka my child.

Nha, Evolution mind broke Toriyama totally.

HEROku.png - 742x1076, 1.16M

I agree. If anything they understood Goku better than Toriyama himself

She probably milked him in his sleep and then inseminated herself. That’s how her sons were conceived

2v1, no take take turns bullshit

acknowledges the WAKU WAKU

all for HIS SON

Disregard MEMEku.

He was the creator of the series. The creator knows his creations the best. And yes, Goku is a retarded shitty deadbeat dad who only cares about training and fighting.

Nha, that's just Goku reassuring his sparring partner that he's here to save him and that everything will be okay!

What is Death of the Author!?

Shit like this makes me question if Toriyama was indeed a genius or he just got lucky.

Not only did Toriyama warp Goku's personality, he warped Vegeta's as well.

We're supposed to see Vegeta as a good father when in reality he spent the entirety of the Cell saga mistreating Trunks and then he didn't even talk with his own Trunks unless it was to fight. The only moment when we are shown Vegeta showing any kind of love towards his son is right before killing himself.

Then in Super we're supposed to believe he was always deeply troubled by his actions when he was a Frieza soldier but we saw him murder innocent civilians when fighting 18 during the Cell saga and he never gave a fuck about that. Vegeta murdered more people during the Cell saga than 17 and 18 combined.

And let's not even mention how Toriyama destroyed Future Trunks in Super.

I don't want to be mean or disrespectful, but he did die from a brain tumor. Maybe that messed with his memory and his perception of characters.

He was a gag mangaka. Thats all he ever wanted to be. The rest was luck.

I want to think that maybe he has some kinda of old-fashioned idea of what a "cool" character for children should be, but even characters like Kenshiro cared about his friends.

Saiyan's aren't human beings. They don't have the same level of empathy for others. Goku bashed his head and became brain damaged as a result and he was raised by a kind man in the mountains, but it didn't erase his Saiyan nature. If none of that occurred, he'd have been like Raditz, or Turles

Goku's characterization and Toriyama getting irritated when it deviates away from how he likes it, I found somewhat strange, since Toriyama never really gave a shit about anything in the story. He just did what his editor pushed him to do as he got tard wrangled, so Goku acting out of character I'd think Toriyama would just shrug over

I normally don't ever get actual upset on anything on this website, but how dare you?

Saiyan's aren't human beings. They don't have the same level of empathy for others

Vegeta does love his family and he is a very proud Saiyan. Maybe is just Goku that has something wrong in his head.

Still better than cuckjita, the worthless piece of shit that literally didn't care if trunks and bulma died.

How is that different than Goku though? Bejita said he was going to kill Goku's family, all of his friends and his entire planet and Goku still told Krillin not to finish him off. He even admitted it was selfish to ask him that because he only wanted to fight him again. He didn't care at all that Bejita would murder Krillin if he came back

Thats what happens when it lands on a rock.

Toriyama said in an interview that part of the reason for Bejita becoming so passive and receptive to Bulma was due to Bejita's loneliness. Even still, he struggled with his new lifestyle, longing to be the marauder he used to be, which led to his Majin takeover as a sort of escapism from the internal conflict

Civilized Dragon Ball discussion on Anon Babble

It is possible and nice to see. When the thread isn't overrun with bots and mentally ill people, it can be done. Hopefully janny allows it to stay up, though he deleted the last Daima thread a few hours ago

I'm glad I grew with DB and not Z
Daima mindbroke you retards

Also Bardock as of DB Minus and that was because of Gine. Feels weird that didn't get passed onto Goku apparently

Goku wasn't there to hold Chi Chi's hand while she was giving birth to Gohan

Doesn't even remember Gohan's birthday

Fucking hell, Goku is a mess

All the really cool Goku moments were mostly Toei in various filler adaptions or movies. Goku in Daima is more in-key with what Toriyama has in mind for a "cool" guy kids can look up to

Needs to shit constantly

Doesn't wash his hands

Eats himself into a bloated beach ball with no self control

Smells repulsive

Doesn't shower

Admits to not being a big part of his son's life

Sees nothing wrong with any of the above
