Fantasy

No cheat skills

No RPG mechanics

No high school/salaryman MC

No harem

No self-insert pandering

Good worldbuilding

Well-written characters

Is this really too much to ask for these days?

garbage normalfaggot shit

Sadly yeah. I would recommend ReCervin too but the translations are dead. Bard Loen is pretty good.

I think pic related is the closest to your description that you will find. It is still has RPG mechanics but they are extremely toned down compared to your average isekaishit and the MC's only real "power" is just a shittier ki sense from Dragon Ball and he uses his fists for everything else

Unironically read Made in Abyss. It has some fan service (mainly shota lewding) but it's no self-insert shit and the main girl isn't even sexually interested in MC.
Also, unique fantasy world, which is always great. Probably one of the best examples of world building for currently running manga.

Personally I also enjoyed Children of the Whales a lot and it also has an unique world building. But I don't know if it's the type of fantasy you are asking for.

Witch Hat Atelier has some of the best, most well thought out magic systems out there and some fantastic art, you should give it a try even though anons hate it.

Yeah sadly. Historical series in particular are affected by this since it's more niche, especially if it's male centered.
For fantasy Hakurai no Kishi is the most recent example I stopped reading thanks to dead TLs. At least Tower Dungeon is guaranteed to be translated, thanks to Nihei, but it's pretty common to happen for the series I like.

Bugle Call just got a big lore drop and is finally caught up with the raws

You might like Bugle Call, anon. But, be warned... it gets a bit meta and sci-fi later on.

Is this really too much to ask for these days?

Unfortunately, but when you find it absolutely will brighten your day

OP basically says "no iseki"

Here Op have this iseki

Fucking brain dead slop eater

OP didn't mentioned no isekai dumbass

Fuck I'm mad about all of these but at least Ryoumin has an official translation but goddamn someone needs to pick up Hakurai no Kishi shit was rad as fuck and some great souls esqe armor design but less over done

I almost recommended Ousama Ranking until I remembered that this series got killed as well. It's a shame, I really liked the anime and the first two manga arcs.

OP didn't mentioned no isekai dumbass

You're really gonna be a penantic faggot huh

SAO did irreparable damage to the fantasy genre by opening the light novel floodgates

TL of this being death is pure pain, I never thought people would ignore bomber grape like this.

It also has horrid pacing, an unsatisfying plot and immersion-breaking modern politics in a medieval setting.

You're not looking hard enough, or at all.

and you can have none of that can still have something better than modern isekai

Feel this about a lot of series. ReCervin too and, not fantasy related but still, Shiori no Experience among others. Thought "oh those will be the next big hits on Anon Babble" and I am almost sure they would have been 10+ years ago but something seems to have changed.

Oyaji-core manga are rare but theres something refreshing about their character's view of the world. This one is pretty similar to Bard Loen but its more action oriented + sword autism, and its getting a show next year.

this one definitely devolves into self-insert faggotry when every new girl wants the ossan's dick

such a shame

Bugle Call

Centuria

Ichi the Witch

Are we reading the same manga buddy? Im pretty sure theres only one girl that want that sensei dick and its the white haired one. Everyone else sees him as either sensei, a skilled swordsman, and a father figure

The funny thing about Loen's world is that there are actually isekai RPG cheat skill dudes hanging around, they're just 1 in a million and you'd only know if you read the author's other works and recognized a specific cameo.

>No self-insert pandering

This is my biggest gripe. Its fine to have your MC be a bit special, but if he gets everything handed to him on a silver platter without suffering any hardship it just sucks the life out of the world entirely.
Highserk Saga is my favorite fantasy for actually putting the MC through shit.

The average Japanese high school boy or girl would be dead within four hours without all that.

isekai RPG cheat skill dudes

Are you talking about Bard's son or someone else?

Dias despite being the strongest can't solve all the problems by himself

Author gives him a bro who while not as strong but competent, able to hold the line and win victories

Even gives him his own waifu

Shit like this is how you elevate your works

too bad his bro's wife is a bitch

the children yearn for a new attack on titan

The wandering swordsman that taught Bard as a kid is the protagonist of the author's subsequent novel, Ookami wa Nemuranai. He's originally from his own fantasy world where he was a super sperg about exploring dungeons. Found a portal at the bottom of a dungeon one day, jumped in with his buddy and suddenly he's in Loen's world that has its own set of separate fantasy rules. It's not entirely RPG cheat skill stuff but because he's from a world with different rules he can kinda loophole around parts of Loen's world's magic system.
It's a decent read, one of the few fantasy isekai I'd call good.

Man that kinda sullies Bard Lowen for me now

Sorry to have dampened the mood kek. If it's any consolation, as far as I recall it never comes up in Bard Loen whatsoever beyond the quick nod to Ookami with the teacher, and in the grander scheme of the world the isekai people only come from parallel fantasy worlds. You're not gonna get Jouji the highshooler from Tokyo blessed by a Goddess or some shit

Why not try some sci-fi as well?

Rebuild World I consider to be one of the greatest action novels out there. You can read the manga adaptation as well if that's what you're looking for since your OP pic is also a manga adaptation of a novel.

No self-insert

I don't think I ever saw/read a piece of media that didn't have a self insert.

The self insert is the world itself as it does to the kids everything the author wants to do

No self-insert pandering

Meaningless buzz word
