What happened to intelligent choreography? There's so much unnecessary motion here of both the subjects and the camera. The most surprising thing to me is that, despite this, Sanji's kicks look like they have no weight.

it's massively profitable, and has passionate animators willing to flex their talent for these scenes
that being said, the One Piece anime is crap more often than not, since these well animated scenes aren't representative of the entire episode. and most episodes don't even get special scenes like your webm
I'm curious to see how it'll turn out after the 6 month break. even more curious to know if these pauses will become more frequent, turning it into a seasonal anime of sorts. as everyone knows, the biggest problem with the OP anime isn't the animation but the atrocious pacing, and a fundamental change in production like that could solve it

For One Piece this is pretty good, great even. no dbz auras and other gimmicky light show. Way better than G5 and Zoro's aura piece that's for sure

It's not. A few sakuga clips don't make the average animation less ass or stiff.
I've been rewatching OP with a relative and FUCK is it mostly static frames with barely any movement.
Also, the scribbly lines look like shit even if the animation is fluid. No I don't care if Ohira or whoever the fuck made it. It looks like ass.
Snakeman vs Katakuri has a few cuts that have legit high quality animation but that's still something like 60 seconds out of a 20 minute episode, in a series with more than 1000 episodes.
That's not good animation.
As for how they manage to do it, they figured out that sakugafags are so easy to please that they focused on making those few minutes per episode.
But anon, every frame looks completely different so that makes it automatically good.

The average new One Piece episode is 30-60 seconds of good shit (sometimes, other times it's just ADHD flashing lights and nonsensical shaking camera), 4 minutes of recap and 15 minutes of the worst dogshit you've ever seen.

Ones where you can actually notice what the characters are doing and the characters actually look how they're supposed to(with an acceptable degree of deformation). Or at least, they look like the characters you've been watching the rest of the episode.
Sakugafags are right more times than they're wrong, but a lot of cheap slop slips through the cracks and gets praised solely for the flashiness rather than actually looking good.
The last 2 regular episodes and the Fan Letter are better animated than any other seasonal show this year. Cope.
