It's almost exactly like Toriko and the Eight Kings arcs with the first two Kings being high points of the manga and the rest being offscreened. The manga eventually managed to stick the landing, because it's better to skip ahead and offscreen some stuff for a bigger final battle rather than try to do everything and rush the true final boss.
