Is it me, or is their use of Maebashi, Gunma a complete waste of time and resources? Other than a few throwaway references it feels like they've not really done anything with the setting at all. They could have set the series literally anywhere else, including Tokyo, and absolutely nothing would change.

Only saw the first episode before deciding I had too much to watch on a Sunday and leaving it be, so maybe it's expanded more, but isn't the point of Maebashi as a setting instead of somewhere more interesting the fact that it's such a mundane and boring city and it's a more relatable setting for viewers who don't live in Tokyo or Kyoto? A few things get set in Saitama for this reason too.

Stfu Maebashi Gunma is peak. I love that they show everything happening at Rose Avenue Shoutengai / Shopping Street for like the 40th time. Jokes aside, Yama no Susume did a better job promoting Gunma. They introduced viewers to a castle attraction and Tanigawa Dake (Mt. Tanigawa), which is one of the main attractions in Gunma. There was even an Initial D reference (Hachiroku car), but it was really brief and they did not overdo it.

If Maebashi Bitches is smart, they will probably show something like Ikaho or Kusatsu Onsen. There is really nothing to talk about in Maebashi other than the government office observation deck and the freaking Green Dome.
