But they just hire a local washer woman to take care of minor stuff between adventures, and he's never seen again after marching into a forest.
There's another, more popular one, where the shoelacer's buffs were actively impeding the growth of the party, and after they boot him, they take an initial fall, but start to steadily rise. He gets all butt hurt that the next time he sees them, they aren't begging on the street corner, and generally seem happy in his own success.

One of them was a Kaoru's POV with her making the some comments about the hero's party we already knew and her talking about Souta and her wanting to find out the truth about him and trick him into telling her about the masked swordsman.
