Kimetsu no Yaiba

poggers

Who got the best butterfly?

Nobody cares.

Sanemi is for Nezuko he can’t romance a dead girl.

U&G

Shinobu's lover

KEK

Another nothingburger

Wow, and it's fucking nothing

Looks great. Looks like it'll end at Akaza rematch.

kill yourself

is it a movie?

UG

uncle grandpa?

Yes

all that CGI

Oh boy. I hope it just looks bad because of the quality. Anyway, it's gonna be at least two more months until I find out. Hopefully Akaza gets a good sendoff, his chapters in the manga were great.

They are dragging this out so much and I hate it. People are going to be sick of Infinity Castle by the time they get to movie 3.

It looks good though

Yeah honestly the only thing I care about is seeing Koku on screen.

I love my nameless green wife!

I prefer seasonal
I don't want to travel 2 hours for day 1

Akaza barreling through those floors

Other than that, they really arent going to show shit are they? Too many spoilers for a proper trailer I suppose.

Rengoku choked THAT?

About to become the best selling movie in Japanese history..... AGAIN

Will it? The unique circumstances of Mugen Train are gone, and their marketing strategy seems retarded with how little they're showing and so late too.

On their way to breaking the internet and laughing at Gear 5.

I doubt it's going to reach mugen train. But it will make 300 million dollars minimum.

lolno. the demon slayer manga has been over for 5 years and the hype has since dissipated. never mind the fact that the first movie benefitted hugely from an empty release lineup due to covid delays and it running on theaters for 6 months
you can't make lightning strike twice

Nah, I think more like 200 million is more realistic.

No way it's getting #1 again.
But if all three make it to the top 10, that's gonna be glorious.

Hype is still alive. The market for it is still big. Big enough for Chinese scalpers were causing issues recently.

Well it made 360 million in japan and 140 million in the rest of the world.
I would think that the international box office alone could reach 200 million. So 300 - 400 million total is reasonable.

Chinese scalpers

Elaborate?

Believe in Gyomei supremacy!
tiktok whores are finally giving him the thirst posts he rightfully deserves

Zenitsu should've died. Sanemi should've reconciled with Tanjiro and become his bro-in-law. Giyu probably married that matagi girl tho.

fighting to get merch

hoarding merch

Got kicked out by guards

Buying tickets for events just to get exclusive merch

And this is not a one time thing. This happened at least at two or three events.

Fuck! this is gonna become the best selling animated movie in the world, right? The hype everywhere is insane. They are smart for releasing ti worldwide this time

You're overestimating how easy it is for anime films especially violent ones like Infinity Castle to get into China. Mugen Train, which was less violent and had massive regional success, didn’t even make it past China's censors. Why? Because China’s film bureau doesn’t mess around with excessive blood, gore, supernatural themes, or demons, all of which Infinity Castle has in spades. Muzan slaughters a room of humans in the opening, Shinobu gets eaten alive, heads are flying off.

There’s zero chance that passes approval. China’s notoriously strict with animated content especially, and unlike Marvel or Disney, Aniplex isn’t going to re-edit their movie just to chase a release. Chinese scalpers flipping merch means demand exists, yeah, but that has nothing to do with theatrical approval. Unless the CCP suddenly loves gore and demons, this movie’s never seeing a mainland release. Infinity Castle’s entire box office fate rides on Japan and outside, the US and a few loyal territories like South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and France. And even its US box office might be jeopardised because of Trump's tariff policies.

Fuck! this is gonna become the best selling animated movie in the world, right?

nezha 2

Nope. Mugen Train, a once-in-a-lifetime, no-competition, pandemic-boosted, full-sequel movie, made $140M internationally. And that was with insane momentum and tons of press.

Infinity Castle is:

Part 1 of 3

Has little to no marketing

Trailers that shows absolutely nothing

Is coming in cold

Will almost certainly not be in China

Lacks the narrative payoff Mugen Train had

How the hell would it beat that with less market opportunity and less impact? It won’t. Best-case scenario for international (non-Japan):

US: $20–25M

France/South Korea/Taiwan: $30–40M combined

All other countries (LATAM, EU, SEA): another ~$30M tops

That’s a maximum of $100-120M internationally unless this turns into anime Avengers Endgame or Nezha 2 overnight, which it won’t, unless a miracle happens.

So 300 - 400 million total is reasonable.

This is full-blown delusional. It implies Japan alone will again deliver $200–300M. That’s not happening post-Covid with theater rotations back to normal, competition in August, and no pandemic boost.

Actual likely total worldwide? $150–200M tops. $70–90M from Japan. $80–110M international (if they don’t completely botch the global rollout).

You’re treating Infinity Castle like it’s riding the same tsunami Mugen Train did. That tsunami is gone. What’s left is a loyal fanbase, a crowded market, and a ticking clock. So unless a trailer drops in the next few weeks that melts faces and causes theaters to start taking preorders, this is going to underperform by Mugen Train standards and settle in the respectable but nowhere near historic zone.

It will def get a china release at least a few months after the rest of the world. Also while the overseas numbers minus china seems reasonable I think you're underestimating how popular KnY still is in Japan.

It'll make film red numbers

I'd say that's a good bet. Maybe a little less, since that was still during the pandemic years.

WasZKXgUsI.png - 1184x737, 142.9K

I bet all 3 will be in the top 10

Depends on how quickly the other two are released. I'm pretty sure the upcoming movie will hit 200 million in order to hit top 10, but the entire trilogy? It's too hard to predict.

That's my bet

Out of the ones I've seen Suzume is the shittiest by a long shot

I just want Ufotable to animate the crazy schizo demon.

Hairo_(KnY).png - 358x857, 294.86K

Chinks really are roaches.

Three fucking movies

5 actually. Muzan fight alone has to be at least 2 or three more

I can see it. Movies and then they will edit to seasonal formal like they did with Mugen Train

It will def get a china release at least a few months after the rest of the world.

No, it won’t. This isn’t a late-release delay, it’s a content-based ban. The Chinese Film Bureau doesn’t just “wait a few months” for demon-slaying cannibal bloodbaths to cool down. If a film doesn’t get through the 审查制度 (approval system), it’s dead on arrival.

And here’s the reality:

No anime movie that got denied entry has ever been "approved later" months after

If Mugen Train didn’t get in, with a softer tone and more closure, Infinity Castle never will

Also, by the time “a few months later” rolls around:

The global hype is long gone

Piracy in China has already won because anime is piss-easy to pirate

Merch already saturated

No cinema chains will prioritize a stale anime film months late

This argument is just a cope.

I think you're underestimating how popular KnY still is in Japan

Yeah, Demon Slayer is still popular in Japan. But not Mugen Train popular. That movie dropped during a perfect storm: no competition, max pandemic hype, and a self-contained emotional climax. Infinity Castle is one-third of a final act with almost zero marketing two months out.

They're trying to do what Ghibli did with The Boy and the Heron, but it worked for Ghibli for one reason: Miyazaki is a legacy brand. He could drop a teaser of a blank wall and people would show up. Demon Slayer isn't Miyazaki. It’s not a prestige brand, it’s a pop culture product. And for something mainstream like this, silence this close to release doesn’t create mystique, it creates apathy and confusion.

It’ll do well, but if you’re expecting $300-400M box office off fan loyalty and blind optimism, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment.

t.not in Japan

Also, let me add that Miyazaki is literally the only anime filmmaker who is both an Oscar winner and globally respected as a high-art auteur. He disappears for like 10 years at a time which makes every film an event. He doesn't need trailers because Ghibli has a cultural cachet that no franchise can replicate.

Demon Slayer is not a legacy brand, it’s not prestigious. It’s a commercial franchise. New content has been dumped annually, including recap releases and over-extended arcs.

Season 1 = 2019

Mugen Train = 2020 (in Japan)

Season 2 = 2021-2022

Season 3 = 2023

Season 4 = 2024

This IP isn’t rare or mysterious. Unlike Miyazaki, it needs marketing to fuel urgency, because the series is known, but not sacred.
I don’t need to be in Japan to read box office data. To the Swordsmith Village made ¥1.1 billion (~$8M). Into the Hashira Training made less than ¥600 million (~$4M). If Demon Slayer’s popularity was enough to ‘dominate,’ they would’ve. But they didn’t.

Recap theater releases

KINO

I swear Ive seen these same posts in the last couple threads

Yeah, and you want to know why that's a cope too? Bocchi the Rock! Re: is literally a recap of a slice-of-life music anime, and it beat everything at the Japanese box office on opening weekend. It is the first ever anime film recap film that consists entirely of series TV recaps that managed to top the chart.

Demon Slayer recap movies had massive IP backing, early access to new episodes, and flashy theatrical presentation and they still couldn’t even crack the top.
That's just your imagination.

Muzan won. Next.

thats a boy

No, Im pretty sure your ass was in the previous threads to Jeremy

Happy Birthday Rengoku!

Nope. That’s just you coming up with a boogeyman after getting steamrolled by concrete examples that disproves you entire argument and that’s your problem that every post feels like a personal attack against you, not mine.

Anyway, if Demon Slayer’s grip on Japan was as ironclad as you're implying, those recap movies should’ve printed money, but they didn’t. Because hype isn't infinite, and audiences don’t blindly throw yen at anything with a Demon Slayer logo on it. It needs to feel like an event. And right now, with no real trailer, no major promo, and no Covid-era monopoly, Infinity Castle isn't that. Everyone with a half brain knows lightning doesn’t twice.

Tanjiro, imo.

Ok Jeremy

Rengoku's dad raped him didnt he?

It won’t. The idea that Infinity Castle will repeat Mugen Train’s box office run ignores literally everything that made Mugen Train a one-off phenomenon. That movie succeeded because of a perfect storm: zero competition during Covid, pent-up anime hype, and a full emotional arc that felt like a season finale. It also ran for six months with no major contenders. None of that exists now.

Infinity Castle is walking into:

A crowded summer release window (including Jurassic World: Rebirth 3 weeks later)

No China release (99.9% certainty)

Little to no trailers with two months to go

And it's just Part 1 of 3, meaning no emotional resolution, just setup.

The most optimistic box office projection right now is $150M-200M globally. A success for anime, but nowhere near Mugen Train’s $500M. And if they don’t kickstart marketing within the next few weeks, it could underperform even that.
See: >that’s your problem that every post feels like a personal attack against you, not mine.
Your bait won’t work on me.

Im not even that anon you're ranting at Jeremy. Take your meds.

So you admit you just jump into convos you don’t follow to falseflag? Try to be more creative with your bait attempts. You’re boring.

OMG IS THAT CGI
HOLY FUCK ITS SO AMAZING

I can only imagine the bloodbath that is going to be Mugen Train and Rengoku's birthday merch.

Nah, I think my bait worked just fine.

Nah. You’re just dull and boring since you’ve admitted you’re a troll.

That anon is right, demon slayer is falling off and I think ufotable is trying to hype the infinity castle arc in a similar vein to endgame. I do believe that the final (final) movie will do the same numbers if not maybe a little more than mugen train though
