Last week, 7 chapters. This week, 2 chapters. Preview only showed 1 chapter from what I can glean. I don't think they're going to finish the first book by episode 8 after all.

I think they show Matthew's shopping panic, so it's close to the end. It's been years since I read the book.
I think the anime should have livened it up. There's what, 8? 9? different remakes of Anne of green gables. Start a fire. Throw a pie. Mudwrestle Diana and then make up with her. It doesn't have to be Studio Trigger, but isn't it a little too unremarkable?

The preview showed fall leaves. I think it's likely it'll cover at least 3. If they skip some scenes leading up to the exam then that'll leave a fair amount of focus on preparing for the exam itself and its aftermath, right in time for episode 8.

Ummm, nah. Doesn't change the fact that the slate smash was badly animated, to the point where it looks like she barely put any force into it yet the whole thing smashes apart inexplicably.

Overall this adaptation is so far a better anime than the '79. MUCH better pacing due to them cutting out all the useless fat. The original is a fucking slog, 50 episodes for just the 1st book? It was laughably drawn out. A good adaptation needs to know what to cut, anime is a different medium than text, and that's something the director of the '79 show did not understand.
