Asa is such a weird character to me because it feels like everything was in place to give us an incredibly entertaining and gripping narrative surrounding her, but she ended up being sidelined and lobotomized into a character I barely recognise or care about. OK, thats enough whining! I'll try to give you my perspective on Asa and if you have a different take, please feel free to share.

A big problem I have is that so many moments with Asa feel like they exist in a vacuum. For example, when Asa and Denji meet each other for the first time on the school rooftop. Denji reveals hes Chainsawman, and Asa absolutely destroys him verbally, calls him a loser and walks away. This scene is fucking hilarious, and it felt like the perfect moment for the story to call back on! Yoru also gets super upset when Asa calls her dumb for believing Denji which is never brought up again when she DOES find out CSM's real identity.

Or how about the fact that when Yuko died to FakeCSM, she's just deleted from the fucking manga. Asa never mentions her again, she still doesnt know Yuko's status nor is there any concern shown. Its like Yuko simply existed to pass on her philosophy to Asa("Even if my actions turn out to be a mistake, if my hearts in the right place thats all that matters") and then its just BANG YOU'RE OUT. If you read the arcs slowly, you'll notice that Denji has been put through the same old problems, he's done the same old mistakes and reached the same old conclusions.
The story put a lot of focus on him, so the cast of characters is almost a blank slate, the apocalypse is getting some focus just now after many volumes, Asa and Denji's relationship is almost non existent and Asa lost a good chunk of focus on her.

Asa and Yoru wouldn't be part of the story if wasn't for Denji being CSM, the horsemen are connected to CSM and Denji, Public Safety wanting CSM power is connected to Denji and Fire Devil with chainsaw zombies is tied to Denji. Those are just examples and there are many more.

i can see the vision of what he's doing but he's taking way, way too long to get there.
basically, he's just hammering the point down that denji's hedonistic impulses continue to get in the way of his ability self-reflect and improve, and yoru is currently the manifestation of that, as she keeps advancing on him sexually whenever he's having a moment of serenity (the brothel scene, when he lands in aging's world, and even when he's looking down at burned buildings while reminiscing about power and nayuta).
with p1 pacing we already would've been through this but p2 is just dragging its heels about it.
