Good art and the adaptation being done by Shaft made it more interesting to watch than other romcoms.

Nisekoi was one of my first romcoms, and it also contributed to turning me off of the romcom genre entirely. Literally every other option presented to the MC was better than the spoiled brat known as Chitoge.

The difference between Nisekoi and modern "rom" "coms" is it was actually both romantic and funny. So many series called romcoms these days aren't even funny.
