Golden Wings is a prequel to the main series, set between a couple of the gaidens. It's not really worth the watch unless you're really into it.

Avoid motbob if you want good subs, anime central did do justice to the series with a real translation which is why everybody loved lotgh.
Their real issue with it is that the old release was left untainted by tranny localizer hands. Nyaa reply section is filled with localizing squad apologists and defenders, using multiple accounts too and/or asking their discord buddies to butt in and slander CA to heighten mtbb's status.
It's more evident in the latter half. I watched both versions of the subtitles and it's not hard to grab

It gets better as it goes. I don't think it starts super strong or at least not as strong as its legacy would suggest. I'd say season 1 ends it gets really good.

As a quip about LOGH. Out of all the interactions, the scene that I always remember no matter what is when the empire completes the take over of Heinessen and they finally start talking to the bureaucrats in charge. They essentially hit soldiers with "Are you an elected official?" and refuse to co-operate with them.
Its a very small piece of dialog & really not that consequential, but I'm glad it was included. If anyone remembers which episode this is from let me know as I'm dying to rewatch it.

Was considering this or record of lodoss war next, but decided on logh because there's a current logh thread in Rn and if I finish the show in time (probably wont) I'll be able to save some good webms

big part of it is there's nothing else like logh out there. yes, there are similar shows and one even adapting the same author's other story, but they're on the same level or tackling relevant themes.
