She always struck me as CLAMP's ideal woman. Obviously Sakura is the heroine of CLAMP, but her mom seems to be the ideal that they long for.
Why did she die young then?
What does CLAMP have against parents? They seem to like killing them off a lot. Pretty brutal for shoujo. Meanwhile you have Sailor Moon (not CLAMP I know) who has both of her parents alive and well. It's like they wanted to traumatize young girls so badly.

Nadeshiko is based on Marmalade Boy's Meiko, right? They kinda look the same and have the same story, rich girl that fall in love with a poorfag teacher. Except Nadeshiko had an idealized family life while Meiko was mistreated by her parents but CCS is moe for girls.
I doubt it, he waited for her to graduate, she was already 18 at this point. Also, CCS relationships are complete devoid of sex, you probably shouldn't be thinking about it anyway. Even Sakura and Syaron didn't kiss at all, not even once in canon.

Going by the manga, but Nadeshiko had the "weak body syndrome", she also had the power to see the future, kind of. Sakura is the strongest mage of her universe because she has the genetic disposition for it, Fujitaka being part of Clow, and Nadeshiko having massive amount of magic power. Nadeshiko was very open with Fujitaka because she knew she was going to die young, so she grabbed the man she fell in love with. In the manga her soul is very much present in most of important moments and Touya can see and talk to her (he has strong magical powers for obvious reasons). Touya lost most of his power when he decided to sacrifice the ability to see and talk to her for Yukito (who was a weak vessel for Yue's magical powers and Sakura's immaturity as a mage)

Was this a retcon made by Clear Card? I kinda hate it because it ruins Clow’s whole original purpose of reincarnating himself so he could find a normal human being to live out a normal life with. It just doesn’t hit the same if Nadeshiko is no longer from some normie rich family who never accepted Fujitaka because he was “suspicious.” What’s the fucking point if she had magical powers herself all along?
Also it opens up a plot hole regarding Tomoyo’s lack of magical powers considering she’s a relative from Sakura’s mother’s side…

I'm pretty sure it isn't exactly stated, she's just related to the mage's guild since she was a friend of Akiho's mom.
She has magical power but it's particular to herself and not her family. Fujitaka only mentions that she could see things other people couldn't.
There's absolutely nothing brutal about it tho. Sakura is so proper and sunny that I often forget she grew up without a mother.
It's literally just fucking easier to write around. Aside from the actual realism of Japanese work ethic resulting in some parents barely being around, this is the main reason for dead parents, parents constantly working abroad, and so on. It's just fucking easier to go "oh yeah, they're not around, don't worry about it" than have to take them into account with the character dynamics or panel time or anything like that.
The mangaka of Bisque Doll mentioned she just casually killed off the MC's parents and then felt real bad about it when she saw the anime and they devoted a little scene to it with him praying at the small memorial shrine in their home.
