otome
sunday show
threads are also dead like Lettie's
We are so back, the 5 of us.
The romance in Sofia's show seems more natural than Lettie's kidnapping anime.
sophia
become gorilla
What about gorilla brain?
Is this the fabled gorilla channel
she's even a redhead like Lettie
God damn Japan what is it with otomes and red hair.

It's a baseball league here in the world of Monkey Mountain,
played by the great monkeys, which started when the first ball and bat
and the rules of the game were handed down to them.
In the Monkey League, a number of great players arose
from among the nameless monkeys,
whose faces and appearances all looked the same.
They included the legendary home run king,
who batted an unprecedented, record-breaking
80 home runs in one year, Steroid Monkey;
the one who bested the god of batting, Monkey River's career batting average
by two thousandths, the miracle hitting machine, Upper Monkey;
the greatest catcher of the Bigfoot era, Mister Monkey;
later, as manager, he would go on to break the record for most league wins,
with a legendary ten-season-long streak!
Then came the golden age of the M-League.
A miracle monkey came along
and shattered those previous legends one by one--
the monster, Monkey Blue!
This maverick of the league was the only one with blue hair,
who, despite weathering ugly discrimination and crafty persecution,
triumphed over them with overwhelming talent, ultimately becoming a hero,
and a symbol of hope for the monkeys!
Although a rookie, Blue put the brakes to the king, Steroid Monkey!
Breaking his bat as well as his heart, Blue drove him to retirement.
Then, with his mighty pitching arm,
Blue led the underdog team Monkey and Club to victory,
preventing Bigfoot's championship streak from reaching 11.
The public accepted this new hair color,
and there was no doubt in anybody's mind
that the era of Monkey Blue had begun! But then...
...that great tragedy, when a near-perfect game was foiled,
and a monkey was killed, took place!
Based.
She is like those battle harem MCs from 2010s who got a power by some unknown reasons and is now trying to live a life without anyone noticing.
GORILLA STRENGTH
I now like this show than the Saintess one.
Yes. But she is cute, so it is actually watchable.
spot the MC
I hope they keep dropping random gorilla facts throughout the show.
Cute rhino.
are you seriously watching otome shows Anon Babble
otome
What's with the retards calling everything "otome" even when the setting is not in an otome game?
ugly hag
It's okay because the story has monogamous romance instead of haremshit.
If only she was black
That's fucking racist
Man, this was a weird Seton Academy episode.
I'm getting Ojisan vibes on this gorilla.
You need to distinguish between series set in otome games and series aimed at an otome audience. There's some overlap but overall they're quite distinct.
native otome
otome audience
What kind of stupid neologism is this? We already have shoujo and josei as demographics
If I had a nickel for every anime in which a long-haired redhead girl had a connection to gorillas, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice
This show really feels like your battle harem cast but gender flipped, holy shit.
reverse battle harem
Based.
I was promised ponytail
Have you never wondered why it's called Otomemuke Game and not Joseimuke Game? Otome is a lot more specific.
it's gonna be more than letie's show, come on. this shouldn't be as creepy.
otome right there in the genre name
doesn't get it
ngmi
Great episode.
Sofia a cute. And already has a boyfriend!
Game
How is that relevant here? This is not a game, and neither novels nor manga use "otome" as a demographic term, the former get tagged on nip sites as dansei/josei-muke(male/female-oriented), the latter as kodomo/shounen/shoujo/seinen/josei
So how shoujo is it?
Her blessing's gonna make her a chestlet forever. Is it REALLY worth it?
Most gorillas are probably smarter than her.
Pure certified shoujo.
But will it let us know what Killing Bites is?
Lettiebro reporting in.
That was pretty enjoyable. See you five next week.
The ED is really good
But without Seton Academy's amazing OP or ED
It's part of the blessing.
Cute!
If this were a game our gorillatrix would be a villainess
The community has long reorganized itself downstream of the games.
gorilla girl is replacing Lettie
I like Gorilla's gimmick more than Letties, so I might stick around for this one
looks like this and witch watch will be the only good things on sundays
Witch Watch
good
Anon, I...
mono coming next week, witch shit nein
I liked ep1
hell yea
more posts in this thread than in all Happy Marriage threads combined
sorry, this is too popular - dropped
Lettie's final thread had 2 people in it.
At least this show isn't that weirdo foot fungus show.

IMAGINE
pixiv dictionary entry with three whole fucking sentences, ie. huge fucking nothing
"related tags" has 女性向け, an entry for which has paragraphs upon paragraphs of text because it's actually wildly used by everyone(see pic rel from bookwalker)
It's okay anon, you can just admit you've extrapolated a bit too much by going from "otome game villainess", which is used as a common set up, to "otome" as a supposed general genre/category
Absolutely not if you're a man, see
only 7? i was expecting more honestly
jackhammer handjob from sophia's gorilla grip
anon your cock would be ANNIHILATED
That is pretty significant. Imagine being able to simply flip a car over one handed, or pick up and throw a grown man like a rag doll. She could kill a person with a casual backhand to the face.
yeah even with 7x the strength she's still probably the strongest person on the planet right now in terms of sheer force
but the way people have hyped up gorillas i assumed they were even stronger than that
I'm not sure what you were expecting. Gorillas are immensely strong for their size, to get any stronger you have to get to the size of an elephant or a rhino. Or a grizzly bear.
That's like my favorite thing!
idk i was thinking like 10-12x, so not too far off 7
i mean there probably was a genetic freak of nature gorilla completely off the charts at some point in history right?
No one wants Sofia to crush their balls.
I do
blessed by the strongest combat god
that's it you're joining the army
but what if she wanted to use her gorilla strength in like...construction or something? she'd be great at any manual labour job, no need to throw her into a warzone
warzone
There's a war? I must've missed that in the exposition somewhere. Along with any explanation for why a company of royal knights needs to exist in the first place.
there was no one saying there was a war, i was just inferring that myself - why have knights if not for eventual war?
there was some anti-monarchy unrest mentioned
construction
any manual labour job
Did you miss the part where she's a noble? That shit wouldn't fly
only a minor noble in the middle of bumfuck nowhere
just get her helping expand her fief or whatever the fuck into an industrial powerhouse or something
I thought that was more of a political faction among the nobles, not like a full on rebellion. Although I shouldn't expect nuance in a show like this. Any kind of political conflict that exists is just a pretext for the MC to do something heroic.
gorilass
How much romance is in this?
if she passes she'd be the only woman at this base, surrounded by men at all times
good thing she has gorilla strength honestly, just in case
She's too ugly for any of them to make a move.
She is a gorilla, after all.
Anyone got a site with the manga? Not having any luck with my usual places.
AWAKEN MY MASTER
jesus fucking CHRIST
i have no idea how "real" her gorilla stand is but the fact that it keeps making gestures is cracking me up
tfw ywn be gorilla carried
his gear malfunctioned, but he still won
why have knights if not for eventual war
There's this thing called "deterrence".
Oh damn. Now I have expectations of this series.
Standing armies are expensive if there's not an immediate need for them. Rome maintained standing armies, but their frontiers were under constant threat of invasion by barbarians. Most medieval societies didn't bother with standing armies at all, instead relying on a warrior class to maintain battle-readiness in exchange for land and wealth, with oaths of fealty to bind them to a particular lord or king.
But this "royal knight company" is basically a standing army. They might be called "knights" but they're not landed gentry. They're a military regiment maintained by the state.
gets gorilla carried in front of all your bros
"won"
catboy was jelly
pathetic
sorry bear, you lose for not having thumbs
All medieval societies had some form of core military that were supposed to corral, direct and possibly train, if there was the time for it, the levies sent by all the lords and vassals.
They would also be used to manage the mercenary bands which participated in wars.
Otome is a subset of josei, it's not a general category. There's a lot of josei-muke content that's not otome-muke.
The Otome-kei article is larger if the muke one bothers you
dic.pixiv.net
Would you also complain if he called it a Yume series? You seem to think otome only gets used in an Akuyaku Reijo context.
he needs thumbs
weak
You want it to be called fj that much? Otome is the safer term
>All medieval societies had some form of core military that were supposed to corral, direct and possibly train, if there was the time for it, the levies sent by all the lords and vassals.
Yeah, that's called the warrior class. That was their job. They maintained combat readiness because they were the hardened core of the military. The upper echelon of the warrior class were the knights, who were technically nobility, but below them were sergeants and men-at-arms, no less proficient in war, but lacking social status to go with it. Such men were part of a lord's "retinue" that is men personally sworn to his service, and so their upkeep was his responsibility. Not the state's.
No matter how you slice it, a "company of royal knights" isn't really a medieval concept.
They're functionally men-at-arms. They're not nobles but they're adjacent to the concept.
Posted too fast, but in wide medieval and up to renaissance society, the terms were interchangable.
If they were men-at-arms the recruitment process would be about pledging service to whatever lord pays for their upkeep, not a bureaucratic enlistment scheme like a modern military regiment.
Actually to my knowledge in some regions it was more about showing up with your own kit first and foremost, but I'll admit that most skill-based recruitment happened with tournaments or other competitions if you were of no note, rather than a standardized test. I will concede on that point.
Knights and men-at-arms are not interchangeable unless you are talking only about their battlefield role, which was to serve as either elite heavy infantry or elite heavy cavalry, for the most part. Men-at-arms fought shoulder to shoulder with landed knights in the exact same capacity, but off the battlefield their social status were very different. Being a man-at-arms did not confer on you any title of nobility. A knight was a nobleman, sometimes even a landed nobleman, and even the most experienced and valorous would have to call him "Sir" while the knight need not even remember his name.
Pretty much all pre-modern war saw your battlefield role determined by social status in some way or another, because as you pointed out, you were expected to equip yourself to your best ability. This means if you could afford to fight on horseback, you did so, because it not only improved your prestige and ensured you rubbed elbows with the nobility, but it improved your chances of staying alive. It just so happened that for most of history fighting on horseback was reserved for the wealthy. At least in agrarian societies, things were different among steppe nomad cultures.
But as to medieval culture in general, most free men could afford some basic weaponry, and many places actually required free tenants as part of their lease with their landlord to provide him with so many spearmen / archers / whatever per household. That's part of how feudal tenancy worked, for free peasants at least. Serfs and other bonded men were not usually required to offer military service, and Burghers (town dwellers) had other ways of fulfilling their military obligation besides fighting (such as scuttage fees, i.e., paying the lord in manufactured weaponry or supplies for the army rather than in soldiers).
are we ditching class for good to become knights? or will we be back?
gorilla-chan said the school was for intelligence and finding marriage prospects so neither of those things apply to her.
Some of the other girls' designs were too specific to be one-offs, so we'll probably spend more time with them.
things were different among steppe nomad cultures
I wish we got more anime about cultures different from notEuropean, we're getting Himekishi wa Barbaroi no Yome later this year at least, hopefully it'll be good.
Honestly it'd be great if we got a more realistic depiction of the European middle ages like in Junketsu no Maria as well. I think that anime had the best medieval battle to date, with archers opening up the battle, polearm levies being the main line, mercenaries doing specialized tasks and nobles acting as heavy hitters to break lines and cause routs.
Pretty good armour and weapons too.
