That was entirely his fault, he hyped it up himself and then it was just garbage.
I tried HBR but I uninstalled it after like 20 hours, he was just pulling the same shit again, repeating the same jokes ad nauseam and throwing in these random super sad stories about characters I barely knew and couldn't give a fuck about, so he learned absolutely fucking nothing from the KamiHi debacle. If only the gameplay could carry it, but that was trash too.
I know he has a very specific fanbase and that's fine if you're into his style, but I just grew sick of it.

I haven't tried HBR, but I did like his early stuff. Clannad, LB and Kanon were great (I don't like Air that much though). But then at some point he kinda lost his touch and it only got worse and worse. AB wasn't that amazing, Charlotte was kinda bad and Kamisama ni Natta hi was just a disaster. So I don't think it's fanbase that matters, he just forgot how to write good stuff.
