Steel Ball Run
I apologize glegoriobros
He's not actually "blind", and he doesn't really "support" it either. He's an "it is what it is" kinda guy with a very heaping helping of "letter of the rules".
APOLOGIZE.
Apology accepted, we all make mistakes anon
Although we may have had our philosophical differences, I never actually doubted him.
No, i'm not a contrarian.
""""solves""""" a problem that only exists because of his own insistence on bootlicking a failed state
no.
I always agreed with Gregorio's fundamentals even if I disagreed with the specifics
I, for one, never had any beef with Gregorio, he's not a shitty father, far less shitty than I thought, he has his own ways but it is what it is
better to make a apology form
Stand
Pocoloco is a 'terrorist'
If HEY YA! and Cheap Trick were on a singular person's back, would they fight or would they cancel each other out?
Thread theme and your perfect SBR anime season 1 ending theme: youtu.be
Johnny...
Johnny...
Gyro...
Its not blind support, but it is blind dedication to duty.
Does Cheap Trick kill you if stands look at your back?
Your son fell in love with an American boy, cope.
Gyro and Johnny...
I am surprised no one tried to kill him during the race
They did but a series of comic mishaps befell them and Pocoloco never even noticed he was being targeted.
lucklet detected
I guess so...maybe in 1890 Cheap Trick would have been different, not ripping the back, but just the opposite of hey ya...not bad luck, more like schizoramble in ear to derail person...
cool concept but i guess if someone gets both, its like the shoulder angel/devil thing
I got a miracle for him right here.
Bruno would have won the race
I know that ultimately this writing is because Araki himself has never seen ice outside of a drink in his life, but the same can be said to apply to Gyro and Johnny. So them paranoidly thinking 43 cm thick ice needs you to be careful at all, while Pocoloco and co. are crossing at fullspeed in the distance, does work as an in-character mistake. And that's neat.
He's having a meltdown again
Grim existence.

What's that? A fucking 2mm width rope bridge? Leave that shit to me, boss

also thanks op

Re-enter this faggot.

Thank you OP
Thanks OP.
WHAT A TANK
TANKED without using his stand
Thanks OP I can't believe he actually tanked that
Yup. He fucking TANKED that
Still wild that despite the shitshow that was the Phantom Blood movie, Araki loved SOUL'D OUT enough to name two characters after them
she is a brave girl
I think Wrecking Ball was the cleanest and least retarded arc so far.
No outlandish bullshit other than the fucking SNOWFLAKES
I wish airplanes were invented sooner!
How about airplane stands?
Gyro was fucking right
last chapter was way shorter than i thought, only got 2 threads today and this one is only 200 replies in
either SBR fans are dropping out or its just one of those shorter volumes
Wekapipo just left him there
LMAAAAAAO
Left-side ataxia was dumb as shit, and the fact that Wekapipo can do all this bullshit with no Golden Rectangles makes me question what the hell they're even useful for.
Tanked
Arigatou...OP
Today was only like 5 minutes shorter than usual.
MY HEROINE
SBR fans are dropping out
Who shot Johnny Joestar will filter millions.
There are a lot more dynamic spreads in these latest volumes.
I don't mind it.
The Golden Rectangle just seems to make the Spin more stronker, not anything special otherwise.
Thanks for the dump, OP.
Took me a while to finally get it, but now I'm loving Johnny & Gyro's dynamic. Probably my favorite out of all the protagonists so far.
Yeah, I think this was overall a bad fight carried by Gregorio and Weakpipo until the miracle ending.
Did you not see what they were useful for? Gyro nailed Wekapipo as soon as he got his golden spin back. Without it, it was all he could do to deflect the balls and avoid being instantly killed at the cost of being affected by left-side ataxia.
WEZA-
Damn...time is accelerating for me
can't wait to see that chapter, will it be next or is it near the end of manga? (first time reader)
and thats a good thing
Chapter cover is the exact same pose as the volume cover
Lazyraki...
Lucy rape adventures
then Chocolate Disco + Who Shot Johnny Joestar
We're in for some shit.
not anything special otherwise.
Just you wait.
golden rectangle is simply training wheels for finding The Spin's bullshit
True, but it just means very little when there's no real indication of the power levels of their throws.
A direct hit from a Wrecking Ball will kill you, but Gyro's powered-up Steel Ball donuts Wekapipo after flying through two metal balls, and he's fine.
I think each individual chapter of Wrecking Ball was shorter than the recent arcs. Tubular Bells was something like sixty pages a chapter, Wrecking ball felt like it got near 40
will it be next or is it near the end of manga?
Closer to the main villain battle.
Past couple days OP has started sticking with the first thread for longer instead of making a new one as soon as it hits bump limit. Ends up posting like 30 more pages per thread.
assuming because he doesn't want to split a chapter between threads, and the number of chapters per volume went down so there's fewer points to move over.
I can't FINE the Golden Rectangle anywhere...
can't wait to see that chapter, will it be next or is it near the end of manga? (first time reader)
3 or 4 volumes ahead.
We are returning to Boom Boom family numbers.
Thanks anon. Volume 14 notes:
I often see the phrase "horse and man as one" in racing magazines or in historical novels, and it supposedly means that the rider can synchronize his or her movements with their horse, so that they're almost one entity. When I draw Gyro and the others on their horses, I feel like I understand a bit of what that phrase means, though I don't ride horses myself. I can't tell you specifically which ones they are, but when I get a racing panel to look just right, the figures seem to fit well with one another. Humans and horses must be biologically suited for one another (whatever that means).
Gyro was looking for the GOLDREN Rectangle on one page, will Araki ever explain how that's different from the Golden Rectangle?!?
Humans and horses must be biologically suited for one another
Imagine
the rider can synchronize his or her movements with their horse
Foreshadowing is a literary tool.
Wekapipo uses an explicitly militarized Spin, while the Zeppeli use a type of Spin that can ALSO be used as a weapon, but it isn't built for combat.
schizobabble
Araki...
Yeah figured, i dont mind shortet chapters
ok so around jojoday, neat
It's better this way, i guess we will get to the longer chapters near weekend

This thread is barely above the middle point, man.
Can't wait to see Gyro using Wekapipo's balls ability in the future fights. He will use it, right?
My nigga with the gnawed leaf TANKED that.
I can't wait for Wekapipo to reunite with his sister
Isaac referensio
Will the implosion be bigger than the Chariot Requiem volume?
There's nothing that Araki after reading a cheap magazine can't write about.
If anything Wekapipo should be using the Golden Ratio, given that he knows what it is, and where to find it.
Why he can't also use it, like Gyro or Johnny is a mystery to me.
I don't think so, we are getting Filthy Acts at a Reasonable Price to bounce back after.
Have you paid your respects?
To DADro? yes
It's from this morning. Redirecting to existing threads is better than making new ones.
my hero, Gyro Zepelli, just keeps winning and winning
I only just noticed while binging JJL that the chapters can range from 20 pages all the way to 40 for some reason.
His only wrong was being so stubborn about Gyro wanting to help the kid. He has too much respect for "the way things are" for my liking.
When the chapters are shortened, that means Araki's wrists jobbed at some point.
Thanks for dumping.
Civil War tomorrow
I WILL be seated.
No fucking way Magenta survived that.
But aren't most JoJo arcs like this? It's just about how someone will either outwit or outlast their opponent. Up until now antagonists had been unfamiliar with spin and mostly caught off guard by its effects. The point here seems to be more about Wekapipo being familiar with Gyro's ability and systematically destroying every avenue Gyro has to use his spin. Once the fight gimmick is surmounted (either by the protagonist outwitting the antagonist, or the protagonist lasting long enough that the antagonist slips up), the fight usually ends in one hit. All you need to know is if Wekapipo's spin hits them directly they die, and if they can get golden spin back they win. Which spin is stronger is about as relevant as stand stats indicating power.
Asking why golden spin can break through wrecking ball and one-shot Wekapipo is like asking why Star Platinum can defeat The World by punching it in the leg. It's a reductionist way of looking at things that ignores everything leading up to that moment. In both cases the fight was already won before the final blow even occurred.
is like asking why Star Platinum can defeat The World by punching it in the leg
Only hardcore Part 3 haters like Joel get upset by things like this.
tomorrow is the true kino fight
Jolyne in horse form.
I like Ringo
Johnny riding Jolyne
Interesting mental image.
pedo rapist....

also i can fix him...
Anyone who's taken care of horses knows that this is 100% true.
Horses and humans are more compatible with each other than with their own species.
Johnny riding Jolyne
Even more interesting
I bet Oda has never even been to Somali...
Please no after party until at least this thread hits bump limit.
I mean, there's another JoJo thread up so people will just migrate there whenever.
fujoshit...
We can move in to the Jolyne thread once we reach bump limit.
He went to South Africa & Egypt, close enough.
I'm at work so I can't participate
It just works.
Same. SBRfags have jobs and a life.
Johnny bottoms to Jolyne
Any of you ever had "Before SBR I thought" moments? Liek you saw some SBR content online but it was so ooc that after you first time read it, it made even less sense or just started reading sbr because of those moments
Me, for example:
Before SBR, I thought Johnny only had baby Tusk and big Tusk, and thought that he can go between those two to defend with spin nails
or I thought Diego stand wasn't him transforming to a dinosaur, but rather something symbolic to dinosaurs like fossils of them
I thought Gyro was always a cowboy from early years and never knew if he even had parents alive as of SBR time
I thought Funny Valentine was just a nickname and his actual name was just Valentine and that the Fatlentine was just a meme and not in manga
and so on and so forth
The first time I heard of Jojo was before the anime and before I really was that deep into anime, either.
The person talking didn't really know the series well, and conflated DIO, and Diego. So I thought this giant vampire that with a spirit that could freeze time also for some reason could turn into a dinosaur, even if that ability didn't seem to make much sense or sound like an upgrade.
Years ago when I first heard of it and part 6 wasn't animated, I imagined SBR as some crazy Hangover deal with them riding around in cars doing Da Vinci code shit and Jesus was a character rather than a plot device.
I forgot that mental picture when I finally read it a few months ago, but now that I think about it, my imagination was way cooler than the reality.
Cool minor antagonist.
The stand is cooler than the user.
For SBR itself, I thought Johnny could swap between the different Tusk Acts, but that's because of ASB and Echoes. And for before getting into JoJo, my friend described the DIO road roller scene and for whatever reason, I thought it took place in London on a viaduct when he said bridge. Personally, I still think a viaduct would be a cool place for a JoJo battle.
None, I was reading all of JoJo after Part 3 in order before the Diamond is Unbreakable anime began airing. I had no exposure to SBR beforehand. But I think I accidentally looked up something on YouTube/Google while reading it and got spoiled about Gyro's death by search suggestions.
when you forget to download css content
Judging by images alone, I thought SBR took place in the far future after the SO reset with technology going back to zero that people used horses to ride around again and I thought Diego was DIO reincarnated. I also stumbled upon those "Valentine has noble intentions" videos so I thought he was either an ally or a villain with a goal to take down Diego.
His last name spoils that.
Ok thats a pretty detailed gun here, nice
Based MagentaGOD.
I wonder who'll voice him in the anime.

Speaking of, when's the event again? This Saturday?
blue waffle
part 7 is all about horse racing and cowboys
there's no SBR version of Hol Horse
????
Why didn't he tell Wekapi--
And soil the honorable Zeppeli name by announcing in front of men that could easily be bought by a rich asshole that he was going to care for what the country considers taboo? Anons, don't let "Sentimentalism" get in the way of your "Duty".
Plus, Wekapipo deserved it as a minor punishment for getting his sister in that situation in the first place. His "Sentimentalism" destroyed his own "Family" and led her into an abusive marriage. Don't meddle with a "Life" that isn't yours to meddle with.
yep
Mountain Tim exists...oh wait
the event is online right? is it paid again?
I swear to god, if I see Rohan...
Swear more, i guarantee, YOU will get more Rohan and YOU WILL BE HAPPY (raughs)
giorno looks out of place for some reason
Rohan OVA revealed
JoJo fans suddenly awaken dark determination
he has the most flashy color scheme in the anime
HEAVENS DOOR!
*anon will enjoy new Rohan ova*
he's next to a guy with roblox shoulders so maybe that's why
Honestly Araki should've made Dark Determination an actual powerup which causes Stands to gain a new ability. Like obviously Heavy Weather is Weather Report's Dark Determination ability.
Ranking the arcs so far, speaking as a first timer
Great
Scary Monsters, The First Race, Sugar Mountain
Good
Mandom, Oyecomova, Wrecking Ball, Catch the Rainbow
Okay
Wired, Tomb of the Boom
Eh
In A Silent Way, Tubular Bells
Overall
I think Part 7 has been pretty good. Even when it hits a low or have moments that make me question some of the writing choices, I think it always finds a way to pick itself back up. So far, there's no arcs I genuinely dislike and the ones where I'm eh towards still have some good aspects to it. Don't really prefer Johnny over Gyro or vice versa, I like them both about equally. Very curious how I'll feel about the next arc, especially since that has a song I really like.
Besides SBR anime announcement
i think they'll just tease some new merch or maybe a new spin off, who knows
i dont think DP will keep working with his VA
What the fuck would Ocean Free powerup be?

Nobody fucking says "punch ghost" and means literally just a stand that can ONLY punch and do nothing else. To me it was always synonymous with a humanoid stand that put up a fight, also has other specific abilities. I thought it was obvious. And I could never understand why some are people allergic to the idea of Joseph having a humanoid stand, and why they assume that people who criticize HP would want him to have a stand that can ONLY punch and do nothing else for some reason. That's retarded

But aren't most JoJo arcs like this?
This fight is Spin v. Spin. The Spin is already kind of an inconsistent mystery power when Gyro uses it, but when Araki introduces an entirely new kind of Spin out of nowhere and doesn't do much to describe it, things get a bit hard to follow.
It's a reductionist way of looking at things
I think the reductionist way of looking at things is seeing all Jojo fights as a game of "Find the weakness and automatically win". That's Part 3-level fight writing.
Did you see the Inherited Soul event from 2021? It will be the same thing. Discussion with voice actors from the series and merchs announcement.

It will be a Rohan OVA

It’s going to be Josuke and Ryoko having baby making sex for two hours straight
speech about muh miracles
acktually the snow fell because Wekapipo broke the ice and the water flew up and somehow instantly froze
why couldn't the snow be just a coincidence? how does araki even mange to contradict himself after a single page
why they assume that people who criticize HP would want him to have a stand that can ONLY punch and do nothing else for some reason.
"Joseph would be more useful if his Stand could punch things"
the other Crusaders' Stands are shown to be useful, despite not punching things
Yeah, I sure do wonder why people assume this. I don't care if Hermit Purple could allowed to be a punch ghost, I just think the basis being he can only be useful if it could punch is dumb. It can be useful just from retaining its abilities and giving it an actual body would be a nice improvement. Why is the punching aspect so important to you?
Context?
Why? I think it was fine, the distinctions between the spin of the Zepelli family (used foremost in medicine / inducing peace before execution but can be powered to lethality by the golden rectangle) and military (used only for methodically disorienting and killing opponents) are established well enough, and even though left-side ataxia being induced by a flying ball isn't realistic, we've seen the spin affect the body before. And I think every character was used well; Gyro and Wekapipo's shared history was an interesting insight into the philosophy imparted upon Gyro by Gregorio, and Magenta had a really powerful stand but ultimately fell prey to his inability to utilize it well. And Johnny wasn't the main focus because he's better suited to decisive battles in which all of his senses can be utilized to end things, and his lack of mobility doesn't get in the way. My only gripe was that Gyro and Johnny suddenly forgot about Gyro's belt buckle made specifically as a reference for the golden rectangle, BUT I guess the point was that it'd be countered anyways by Wekapipo, since he'd render them unable to see the whole thing. Maybe. And Wekapipo engineering his own demise was cool, too. I dunno, I don't think it was bad at all
That's his stand Amnesiac.
Yeah, and that's not even how snowflakes form in the atmosphere.
He pulled a Joseph and that led to a scandal which ended his contract with his VA agency or something like that.
Who the fuck is Ryoko?
Pulled a Joseph
I'm so fucking out of the loop bros :heartbroken:
I don't keep up with news about Jojo voice actors so I'll just believe you
They can always hire a new VA for Rohan
I thought japs loved NTR?
Anon...don't tell me you didn't read CDDH
Isn't it because Wekapipo only broke the ice because the wolf was on it? The wolf that Jesus showed Johnny was a sign? As in, Wekapipo breaking the ice only happened because of Jesus' will, making it a miracle. Jesus acted through Wekapipo to save Gyro
Kakyoin’s cousin in the Hol Horse spin-off manga.
yea ok, that makes it so much better, thanks Araki
but can be powered to lethality by the golden rectangle
Can they ONLY be brought to lethality by the Golden Rectangle? Because if so, what the hell was Gyro looking at during the final Ringo fight to make the Spin put a crater in him?
Gyro and Johnny suddenly forgot about Gyro's belt buckle
I thought the belt buckle was supposed to be a red herring during In A Silent Way to make Johnny look at nature. Anyway, Araki turned it back to its original weird pentagonal shape a long time ago.
Why is the punching aspect so important to you?
Because why is every Jojo given an oportunity for a beat down with their stand but not him for some reason. There's something cathartic about a nice beatdown, and other things simply don't have that. Johnny has literal infinity powers... and he still gets to have a beatdown on top of that.
LET THE VOICES OF LOVE TAKE YOU HIGHER
They don't like when a man does it
That’s sad
I'm just saying that there's a coherent logic to it. I don't think you're supposed to literally see it as a 100% miracle, but it's an act of God, in a sense
Why are you booing me, I'm right
I did not.
Bet she's cute.
She just looks like R63 Kakyoin but yeah she is cute
She's a qt 3.14, but she's got that same exact goofy swirl that Kakyoin has.
Hol Horse never knew what Nena really looked like
Kek I'd love to see his reaction.
read
Can they ONLY be brought to lethality by the Golden Rectangle
I think it's vague, but the implication seems to be that every single time Gyro killed someone with the spin previously, he was empowering it with the Golden Rectangle, the audience just wasn't aware of the concept. OR it isn't specifically lethality, but just the amount of power required to shatter Wekapipo's steel balls, which would make sense because we've never seen Gyro fight against another steel ball user. But yeah, Wekapipo said that Gyro would've torn Magenta's arm off instead of just his shoulder if his steel ball was empowered by the golden rectangle, so I'm assuming it brings it to lethal levels of force, and it doesn't do that without it and Gyro's intent (other times we've seen people be hit by the steel balls but not maimed).
I thought the belt buckle was supposed to be a red herring during In A Silent Way
I think you're right, actually. I often forget some stuff when doing this sort of close reading of previous chapters. And yeah, the shape changed regardless. But couldn't Gyro have just asked to see Johnny's hands in a rectangle shape before he got hit with the ataxia again? I'm not super bothered by it regardless, because I like the way the fight ended
He's still doing VA work and since he's Cloud Strife I doubt Square is going to replace him in the third FFVII remake game. So I think he's sticking around for Rohan.
Tooru will be completely scraped from the JJL anime. They'll keep WoU though.
He respects all women even the ugly ones.
i really cant read along everyday
Funny how both the sub and dub voices for Rohan got into a scandal.
The dumps happen at a time where I’m busy everyday
Because why is every Jojo given an oportunity for a beat down with their stand but not him for some reason. There's something cathartic about a nice beatdown, and other things simply don't have that
I mean... sure? But I don't know, Joseph never had to beatdown any of his enemies in Part 2 and I don't think that ever took away the hype of his wins. His lucky win against Kars is fun (especially in the anime, thanks to Sono Chi no Sadame) and pretty cathartic, since Kars gets fucked over by nature and Joseph gets to piss him off by bullshitting him that this was all according to keikaku.
Johnny has literal infinity powers... and he still gets to have a beatdown on top of that.
But why does that matter? You make it seem like a beatdown is sort of special privilege, but I don't think it is. Jonathan had his own beatdown moment against Bruford without any Stands involved, so it's clear you don't need a punch ghost to have it. Because of that, I then must ask you this: if Joseph had a beatdown scene in Part 2, would you be content with that? Because from how you're describing it, it sounds like you're annoyed that Joseph is the only one that doesn't get a beatdown, so HP being a punching ghost would immediately remedies that. And if that is the case, shouldn't you be pointing fingers at Part 2 for not giving him a beatdown scene in the first place?
Oh yeah, it's only a matter of time before a Rohan scandal TSKR chapter.
dub
huh, had no idea Vic got Rohan.
MY HERO
AAAAAAAAAAAAA
GET OUT OF MY HEAD
Thx for dumping, anon. Gyro finally got first place.
weakness
No, I didn't say this specifically. I said to either outwit or outlast. Finding the weakness is one way of winning. Simply outlasting your opponent is the other. Wekapipo's weakness was not found, Gyro simply kept rising to his challenge until he finally slipped up and caused his own downfall via the snow.
That's Part 3-level fight writing.
No that trend continues far beyond part 3. Part 5's finale is a scramble for the instant-win button. Part 6 has tons of fights like I described as well. Bohemian Rhapsody is simply outlasting the bullshit until Weather thinks of the hard counter to the entire ability. Underworld is simply outlasting the bullshit and winning as soon as you survive the plane crash. It doesn't matter whose punch ghost is stronger between Stone Free and Underworld because Jolyne and Hermes had already outlasted Versus' bullshit. Once the challenge has been surmounted, the fight is over. It doesn't matter at all who is physically stronger, that's DBZ-tier writing.
He'd probably react the same way Polnareff did.
TANKgenta TANKgenta
Lucy won.
Hot Pants allowed this
Rohan is a cursed character.
This was extremely gay of Gyro
Johnny's eyes are just that perfect.
WoU is a post-death stand like Notorious BIG
the user died 89 years ago
posed as a human and became a doctor
was just manipulating both the humans and the riggers
There's nothing gay about finding aesthetic perfection in your twink boyfriend's beautiful baby blues.
Would be way cooler than Tooru lol
Same. I wish they could be dumped like 9 hours later, but it's a little unrealistic to expect a dumper to cater to me specifically.
89 gets will be the Mista of part 8.
The only minor thing about I'd want changed about Jojolion is *that* line about the riggers
Which line? There's a lot of them.
The one about them not feeling emotions?
I wonder if there's been a good number of 89 gets and we just haven't been paying attention.
There were definitely a lot of 4 gets before part 5.
I am a rock
I am an island
We'll probably pay more attention to it when we reach Part 8. I'd be funny if the first thread's number ends with 89.
Part 5's final is an insta-win button
Bohemian Rhapsody is an insta-win button
Yeah, and both of those fights sucks.
Underworld
That's not really the same either, because the entire fight is on a set timescale. The end is already visible from the start. And even when the plane crashes, Jolyne and Ermes immediately have another problem to deal with in Heavy Weather.
Most of the fights in Parts 5 and 6 have an extra goal beyond simply defeating the villain. Wrecking Ball does too, technically, but it's kind of thrown by the wayside, so it's just Gyro and Johnny trying to survive a fight with unclear stakes.
Exactly
Aisho deserved better
Scarlet never got past second base.
Lucy will deny it, but she enjoyed this.
Araki went too far in a few too many places.
He needed someone to tell him that his bullshit started stinking and reign him in.
George and Gregorio having to witness their sons fall in love with each other
Dario constantly bullying Diego
mite b cool
Gregorio x George
He's back, he didn't lose any of his important roles.
NamuWiki is admittedly interesting to read if you want a general idea on how eastern JoJo fans feel about a couple of things... assuming you're willing to put up with the wonky English translation.
CDDH anime gets announced this jojoday
It wasn't particularly funny to begin with, but it's even less so since people overused the joke in the storytime.
NamuWiki
Namuwiki is a Korean-language wiki based in Paraguay.
Huh
No, I'm in agreement. I'm just saying if the storytime thread started with it, it'd be a funny coincidence.
CHADgorio is too much of a family man and wodnt even look at the mess that its george
Yeah, that line wasn't even really followed.
Rock humans show emotions pretty often.
I think saying that they don't form connections is enough and more accurate to what we see.
even the Koreans/Japanese agree that Daisuke was a mediocre Giorno
Damn.
What was so bad about him?
only fags with brain damage did
It was a pretty overused joke in the manga, too.
And one lost in translation to the point where the joke becomes absurdity rather than a pun.
meh muda
FUARK. Also
Of course, since Araki is not a real scientist, he often makes errors that would be impossible in reality, but even taking that into account, you can see how much he studied to research the data.
kek
How do we rank part 7 comapred to the other ones so far, bros?
thats the only exception?
personally gyro's va is almost perfect except for a few things
His Mudas could be lifeless at times (more so in ASB, some of his Mudas are solid in EoH) and I think his deliveries were too stoic. Yes, somehow too stoic for even Giorno, imagine that.
all I can hear is a slightly deeper ASB Koichi
all I can hear is a slightly deeper ASB Koichi
Steel Ball Run... was a story about touching a man's balls
There's likely a couple other exceptions. Actually ASB's page says the following,
With the second PV, additional characters were revealed and the casting of the revealed characters was announced, but the response was not that good except for a few characters. In the case of Jotaro Kujo , it was a new cast rather than the cast of Legacy for the Future or OVA , and in the case of Giorno Giovanna, it was a new cast instead of Park Romi of Golden Whirlwind , and the characters in Part 7 were also divided into new casts in the VOMIC version.
The 7th part's gyro also received considerable criticism, and it received quite good reviews for its lines in the 4th PV. Giorno Giovanna's ratings improved to such an extent that she received comments such as 'It's okay because Namikawa does it too!'
From what I'm understanding, people were mixed on Gyro because it wasn't the actor from that old SBR promotional video, but people eventually got used to him. I guess they thought all previous video game actors were going to return for ASB.
Jotaro confirmed Gary Stu
In my top 3, right below 2 & 3.
2/3/6>5>7>4
This would've been way better if it were called Mama's bizarre adventure and Magenta was the main character instead.
Exactly it fits his age.
The guy is 15 and the anime gave him an adult voice.
Very based
parts 5 and 6 above 7 & 4
Bait used to be better.....
It's pretty good but we are a long ways from more reasonable battles and abilities. Last volume had the delayed disguise reveal that had me yell "what" at my monitor. I'm guessing this volume will have an equivalent moment. The fights are good but those sudden reveals are honestly detracting from it, I'm missing part 4's consistency.
Slice of Life Jojo is worst Jojo.
Part 5 is less good and less bad than Part 7.
cry about it bitch
Not crying, just rolling my eyes at this faggotry
Part 5 isn't good at all, and part 7 is an avant garde masterpiece my dude.
It's my 2nd favorite part after Battle Tendacy.
How dare others not have the same opinions as me!
Very good
Lol, if that's what you gleam from that then you're hopeless...

if you place part 5 above anything then I hope you kys yourself tranny faggot
Kek
I usually don't rank until I finish reading, but so far it's probably in my top 4. Gotta see if it stinks the landing for me to get it any higher.
It definitely has to be that faggot who always shitting on this part, pure LARP
Oh it absolutely well, trust me

For me, it's Baoh > 1 = 2 = 3 = 4 = 5 = 6 = 7 = 8 = 9
Bure>Ringo>Rumba
I'll take your word for it, anon.
Part 5 is definitely dogshit, based for putting part 6 at the top though
I miss Jolyne
Part 5 has a lot of great moments and I enjoy most of the cast, and its mis-steps are of a far less scope than Part 7's.
8 = 7 = 6 = 4 = 3 = 2 = 1 > 5
I never read Baoh, is it good?
Me too
Jojo is shit. Araki peaked with Poker Under Arms.
Yeah, part 5s problems are infinitely worse that part 7s, the Kamen rider skyrider of the Jojo franchise
Stone Ocean might've failed because people legit thought Jojo ended at Part 5 because Part 6 wasn't initially promoted as Jojo
This is objectively correct btw
I think I know where disconnect is with dark determination is that was hinting at quality johnny had and that Gyro needed to gain by gyro didn't stick with it and Ringo even called him out on it before the end. Thing is johnny doesn't get to do it much either because Araki started making their friendship more and more important Johnny and we don't full dark determination Johnny until Civil War After that noticeably different.
Is this true?
It's 2 volumes long, just read the damn thing anon
Part 5 Derangement Syndrome
It definitely has to be that faggot who always shitting on this part
I'm not that guy. SBR is my favorite but I don't attack others just for not putting it at top.
did i miss the baoh storytime?
I highly doubt Jump would not have "NEW JOJO PART" plastered on the cover of the issue it debuted
most people still put part 2 in their top 3
Yeah I'm thinking based
Yup. You snooze you lose.
Kira’s the only good character in part 4 and maybe Fungami.
They suck is moving the goalposts. The point was whether this is part 3-tier writing or not. It isn't. It's JoJo writing through and through. Almost every stand battle is like this, they never involve power levels so the initial point from here >True, but it just means very little when there's no real indication of the power levels of their throws.
Is completely irrelevant to the entire series.
The end is already visible from the start
It's the same thing. You know what the end is here, even if there is no ticking timer. As soon as they get the golden rectangle it's over, or if they get hit by the wrecking ball directly (not the satellites) then they die.
another problem to deal with
Yes they have a race to win and corpse parts to find, the plot is continuous even if the next stand user doesn't show up immediately.
unclear stakes
What's unclear? The next corpse part is right in front of them. Whoever wins will abscond with the legs, not to mention they just got a potential ally for the Lucy situation. Unclear stakes would be something like True Man's World where you could argue they could have just left and nothing would have changed or mattered at all.
about the tanking of jojo after so many parts and hurting stone ocean as a result, yes
part 6 treated as a reboot or different thing i dunno
Strange.
If you look at catalogs of Jump manga placements, Stone Ocean is at least on this site, ranked separately from 1-5.
Steel Ball Run is again, ranked separately until it left Jump.

The Italian chef is the best character.
Battle Tendency is probably the most universally liked JoJo part next to Stardust Crusaders.
They're the start of what made JoJo JoJo.
I'm not saying every complaint about SBR is bogus but a lot of the time it really feels like people don't think their criticisms through or jump to "it's bad / doesn't make sense" too quickly. Just not liking the part is fine but there's no need to attempt to justify it beyond preference in those cases

Personally, I prefer the voice fitting the character more than the age of the character, since anime rarely cares about being accurate to age. While I like Romi's voice, I don't think it fits Giorno.
Stone Ocean is at least the first part to debut with its title and keep that.
Originally, all the other Jojo Parts had subtitles that were flexible and changed and weren't integral parts of the name nor where they used in the branding on the covers.
For example, Stardust Crusaders was originally known as 'Heritage for the Future'. Diamond is Unbreakable was originally just 'Josuke Higashikata'. These weren't major aspects of their identity.
Stone Ocean was the first to debut with a title that was integral and a large part of the tankoban cover. And the volume naming was subtly partially reset. With it being labled Volume 1, and 64 being in parenthesis as subscript.
This could be read as a soft reset, but also it'd be hard to interpret it as such.
Stone Ocean is an obvious sequel and is barely comprehensible without reading Parts 3 and 5.
To compare.
Could they get Yuki Kaji to voice Johnny again and use it being a new universe as an excuse to keep him despite voicing Koichi before?
No. I don't want to hear Eren's voice ever again.
Going off history, he's likely not returning for Johnny. If he does return, they'll likely cast him as the kid who shot Johnny kek.
I like it just as much as the other parts so far, but that's because I don't have a favorite part. The only thing I can say for sure is that I like 5 the least, but I still enjoyed it. It's pretty much just a tier below the others. I wouldn't be surprise if 8 joins it, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I love potato Joni
And this is what the general consensus on SO is which (as many of you guessed), the ending is what mainly detracted readers from enjoying it but at least people warmed up to it eventually.
depicts affection between father amd daughter, friendship between friends, family, or love between a man and woman
STRAIGHT Ocean
Stone Ocean being so heavy and dire is a large part of its appeal to me.
That it is a brutal story where the heroes are well outgunned and outplanned and even fate is conspiring against them, is much of what makes it unique and fun.
Bonus: Schizobabble is also made fun of overseas.
The heavy and grotesque parts is what makes Stone Ocean one of my favorites.
Jolyne fights and suffers gruesome injuries all to try save her dad and eventually the world, but in the end she wasn't a "chosen one" her own individual power was never enough to overcome hee fate, but even facing this dark turn of events she makes the best of a worst situation allowing emporio (the most insignificant member of the group, and the one who also lost his family again Pucci) to trick fate in his favor, killing Pucci with the fighting spirit of his own brother, the one who's life was ruined precisely because Pucci wanted to play god with him and his sister.
And even after everything is undone the damage never goes away, our heroes are dead, but their souls have second chances to live as different entities.
The loss of all our heroes is what makes us wish they could survive and what makes Pucci's downfall more enjoyable
I'm a little confused by what they mean by "a new interpretation of the ending" means, especially by the anime apparently adopting it. Do they mean everything happening in 1-5 being the same instead of their histories being rewritten?
Schizobabble truly is a universal language we can all appreciate.
he came back for ASBR.
it seems like the West really likes the SO ending though.
I wonder if it was just the wrong time.
Jujutsu Kaisen was the biggest anime of the last few years and before that Attack on Titan was huge.
Both of those are extremely cynical works with lots of character death and depression.
Stone Ocean might have been too far ahead of the curve. It missed the trend by being ahead of it.
Jolyne lost, she suffered so much, she's the only Jojo who loses uwu
gets reborn in a world where her family doesn't suffer from the Joestar curse (actually wins)
SOtists don't make any sense. I hate this fucking ending and forced drama so much. Resets, time loops and other shit like that make for garbage stories 99% of the time, it's a cop out and all character development is lost etc.
I genuinely believe it was before its time, "gritty" anime has been in recently
it's not a loss or a win. Foo said it herself, it's not the same Jolyne. Emporio was the sole survivor and the only one to finish the fight. It's a bitter end.
Araki has always been ahead of his time, genuinely
Perhaps they were more likely to just interpret it as Pucci winning?
What makes it complex is whether it is 'her' at the end.
I tend to think that it isn't her, and the ending is kinda bleak in that way. Its more like her long lost twin who lived a very different life.
Different person, same soul.
Both of those are extremely cynical works with lots of character death and depression.
Stone Ocean and SBR ended with more main cast dead than both SnK and JJK. SnK in particular ended with the world at large getting fucked but the characters the audience cared about made it, so it was fine. SBR ended with literally all the major characters eating shit, The only people the Japs tolerate dying are mentor figures.
Before the storytime, it was my number one.
I think right now it's at number two, right below Stone Ocean.
it's not the same Jolyne
But when I said that in another thread SOtists were telling me that it's the SAME SOUL and she carries he FEELINGS AND MEMORIES so it's the same Jolyne! So I can't say her character development was lost! Because "she would eventually developed into equally amazing person" in that new world too! (Even though she didn't face the same challenges as OG Jolyne, which made her great in the first place... just like Jonathan would never become a great person without Dio forcing him to rise to the challenge). Trash writing, trash part. Jolyne always felt forced as a character.
heavy and dire
the consequences of MiH are all goofy with ugly looking burgerfats getting into hijinks and not played straight at all
Tonal mess
"a new interpretation of the ending" means
Basically, what we call the "Ireneverse" is actually the original world where Parts 1-5 still happened but Pucci never existed which created a butterfly effect of the SO gang having their souls relocated as better people since without Pucci they never died.
Trash writing, trash part. Jolyne always felt forced as a character.
You're a retard because the exact thing you stated makes it trash is actually what makes Stone Ocean a great part.
B-but she's a girl and she's more badass than the males, that's not forced at all!!
The consequences are partly funny, and then obviously horrible shit like cars flying around at 1000mph and helicopters instantly crashing.
Calling Jolyne forced when Jotaro and Giorno exists is insane.
NTA, but that's just called preference. A person can dislike something for the exact same reasons you enjoy it. Manga isn't beyond subjectivity.
NTA but Giorno is also forced like Jolyne. Both also get blindly praised and worshipped by characters in universe too despite barely talking to them.
That loss is part of the appeal.
It might be 'her' but it isn't 'Jolyne'. Not the Jolyne that actually lived through Part 6. She made a Utopia that she'll never exist to see.
pucci never existed
This is not said or shown anywhere in the story.
We have no idea who, where, or what, Ireneverse Pucci is.
Maybe he's gone, but there is zero reason to think that, because Emporio would have no way of leaving his soul behind in the Made In Heaven universe.
blindly praised and worshipped by characters
who, besides Anasui who has the hots for her?
lost character development is great
Nothingburger: the part
Yeah she almost never cries unlike pussies like Johnny! D-do you remember Jolyne being literally pierced by fucking meteorites and not screaming and crying but throwing cool one liners indtead, like a robot?! So cool! Le heckin' kakugo!
Don't worry, I hate Japtaro and Giorno too.
By that logic every character who developed then dies is nothing more than lost character development, you retard.
johnnyfags are this sensitive and embarassed about liking a faggot
Not even a SOfag but I think you're being pretty extreme with what's considered "lost character development", I don't think it matters if Irene went through the same stuff when what's important is she's able to live happily due to the stuff Jolyne went through. Why the fuck are people this tribal about Jojo parts, they're all pretty good
Nobody made this about Johnny vs. Jolyne you sensitive baby.
D-do you remember Jolyne being literally pierced by fucking meteorites and not screaming and crying but throwing cool one liners indtead, like a robot?! So cool! Le heckin' kakugo!
Oh, I remember you.
The post I replied to did that.
You made it about that.
Irene is not the Jolyne we saw through the manga
shares the same soul and looks but she is not the same person, we can't even call her jojo
this but replace 3 with 6
Gwess
WR
FF
Only Hermes ribs her
Gwess was mindbroken and made her prison bitch.
Weather Report knows a grand total of 4 people so of course he would like a nice girl like Jolyne.
FF was literally saved from certain death by her.
No they didn't, you did by immediately going "lmao Johnny a shit". Stop acting like a victim.
Gwess gets buckbroken and then is kicked out of the cast because Jolyne hates her.
Weather Report doesn't show any remarkable preference for Jolyne except as a general ally.
FF was saved by Jolyne, the loyalty is natural.
Jolyne always felt forced as a character.
Calling Jolyne forced when Jotaro and Giorno exists is insane.
How does one even make a character that is "forced"? I don't get the idea. Two characters being close friends when it's clear they didn't have the time to make it believable I get being forced. But I don't get how a character can be "forced" in of themselves.
The comparison made was obviously using sarcasm to insult Jolyne and use Johnny the counter-example of a better character and a more well written one.
Don't be illiterate.
No, because in no other part we see main characters dying and being reborn as blank slates a few pages later.
Johnny is not even my favourite Jojo, but he has more human reactions than Jolyne, that's for sure.
For real though, a female character being made more badass than her male counterparts is always forced.
that never happened in SO. Anasui and Weza came in clutch all the fucking time and Jolyne is the only one of 2 JoJos that don't even beat the main villain.
They're comparing because Johnny cries a lot and retards like you write it off as him "being a faggot that you should be embarrassed to like" despite behaving like a believable person. You proved his point, dingus.
Forced is when the story bends itself around making a character look good.
For example, when Joseph jobs to D'Arby so Jotaro can look cool.
When Jotaro acts like a total moron so Koichi has to rescue him and unlock 'resolve' against Kira.
When Gyro quits doing anything useful and instead babbles about how to unlock the next power up on the Spin tech tree so Johnny can unlock Tusk 2 and win the fight.
Etc.
Why is Gappy never brought up in suffering discussions?
all this part 5 and 6 hate
For shame.
Nobody remembers his part
believable person
You mean more similar to yourself.
No JoJo is unbelievable. They're just usually much stronger and harder personalities than the one you personally have so they're less relatable for you.
Because he's worse than Giorno by the end of his part
Because he stopped giving a shit about Holly and went for Daiya's jailbait pussy.
every basic statement about Johnny is an insult to my preferred character
Why are you fags always like this?
I'm pretty sure you're arguing against the person that has a victim complex about Steel Ball Run and thinks that people liking it is at the expense of every other part
Gappy's suffering is heavily frontloaded and doesn't have its subplot resolved, either.
So it feels weird to talk about. Like how much did Gappy suffer when he's able to come to terms with it well by the end?
How are the other Jojos unbelievable?
Josefumi and Kira suffered more.
Sounds like him desu. Johnny is great, they can fucking seethe.
Nta but being believable has nothing to do with being relatable imo. Jolyne's reactions are often not believable to me, while, for example, Johnny's are more believable
But that sounds more like an issue one would have with the story, not the character themselves. For example, I think Ermes crying for Weather's death feels forced, because she barely knew him and if she did get to know him, it was all off screen. But that wouldn't make Ermes or Weather forced characters.
Can't you just give your boogeyman a pithy name like all other schizophrenic fanboys do on Anon Babble so I can filter your shit every time you try and force this?
Call him McGillicutty or something so it won't give me any falsepositives.
It's the difference between Josuke being believable and Jotaro's personality at 17 years old being a bit unbelievable
Nooooooo I hate when an MC cries, it's cringe and reminds me too much of myself, where's muh heckin' kakugo
I wish I could kill everyone who thinks this.
every time you try and force this
Gyro...
My statement was "Johnny behaves believably". Nowhere in that does it imply the others aren't necessarily believable either. Lower your hackles
And yet part 5 remains the most popular.
Girl here. Johnny feels more relatable and female coded than Jolyne, who feels like the "muh strong female character" trope. She basically might as well be a man with how she's written desu.
being a faggot that you should be embarrassed to like
no lies detected
In all seriousness though, my issue isn't liking him so much as idolizing him. Being so much more vulnerable makes him less heroic.
D-do you remember Jolyne being literally pierced by fucking meteorites and not screaming and crying but throwing cool one liners indtead, like a robot?!
This happens to every JoJo, no? And doesn't Survivor push your fighting spirit to 110% to where the pain doesn't slow you down?
I've always preferred Johnny when he cries for Gyro and suffers than when he's resoluted with the dark kakugo eyes honestly
among retards
Girl here
Shut up Gyro.
I could easily claim Johnny's aren't believable at all, because I've never been around a man that weepy or dependent on another person for affirmation and support like Johnny is.
What this comes down to is familiarity to oneself or your surroundings.
I could claim that an extremely stoic character like Jotaro is relatable because I've lived around very stoic people.
Both are entirely typical outcomes from the backstories they're given.
Next it is his author's turn.
my MC's need to be heroic
There's your problem. Jojo isn't about that anymore.
Now I'm fucking mad this didn't happen, now the idea of a Jojo final boss being a post-death stand is in my head and it's too cool to never happen.
I enjoy seeing Johnny cry.
CAPTCHA: HAYA2
This is true.
There's nothing particularly feminine about Jolyne.
Her attitude towards others, her place in the world, her duty, is all basically masculine. Especially after she gets Jotaro's memories.
