The Beginning After The End / Hepburn: Saikyō no Ōsama, Futatabime no Jinsei wa Nani o Suru?

Is this show completely irredeemable or do any of you have hope left for it? I am watching it out of frustration but I suppose it seems better in ep 4. It's supposed to be two cours for the first season, so by season 2 we're going to see a lot more combat and I don't have high hopes for it. This most recent episode looked bad but it was also leagues above the first one. I'm not sure what changed. My only hope is they hire some other company to adapt the rest of the story once this bit is done.

IMO this story is better than mushoku tensei and if it would be adapted well it would be one of the best.

Also I'm still annoyed at the sylvia ep but there are a lot of flashbacks so they could fill it in and it could work, but I'm still wondering why they feel the need for all of this filler bullshit while dropping important nuances. He spent nearly half a year in that cave and zero mention of it in the show.

Mushoku Tensei ripoff written by an American Gaijin and bankrolled by American Crunchyroll

lol, lmao even
The largest investor on the production committee gets the biggest share of the rights but this IP is useless to Japanese companies since blu-rays/merch for this shit won't sell there. Normally the companies bid to be the biggest investor in the production committee and the budget is set as the sum of the investments provided by all companies, but I'd be surprised if any other companies were even interested so there's probably a tiny production committee and hence a tiny budget where the top investor (Crunchyroll) didn't have to put in a competitive investment.
It doesn't matter how good it's written, if it has no traction in Japan then it won't get any budget. The only winner will be Crunchyroll who will just use this to get IP rights for cheap.

Safe horny Reddit friendly Mushoku Tensei at home

Nah

Everything I hear about Mushoku Tensei makes it sound like complete garbage that panders to the absolute worst kind of Anon Babblenon so I'll believe you if you say it's better than this, but this is also pandering to a detestable kind of whiny manchild Staind listener who blames all his problems in life on his parents and thinks he could have it better if he was born in a new life and given a cheat skill and put no effort into improving himself
also complete waste of dragon mommy, dropped after that episode for that specific reason

literal cuck written by an american born korean
has all the bad quirks of both korean and american stories, including but not limited to a shit ton of NTR bait

if your not a tourist im almost certain you'll enjoy Mushoku Tensei. at the very least its leagues ahead of ops flaming pile of Isekai.

not a cuck. it is literally trash animation. I hate it so far. I was saying that the latest episode made me forget the last weeks. I really enjoyed reading it and when I saw there was going to be an adaptation for it I was happy but I've been extremely disappointed.

I suggest anyone even remotely interested in it just pirate the manhwa instead. it's such a strange one too. it has animated gifs throughout it and some are bad others are endearing. the manhwa has more frames than the show

The dude think mushoku is trash because he heard about it from somewhere. What make you think he is not a tourist? He is the definition of someone you don’t want in this space.

sorry for not noticing, im a bit of a tard

I'm still annoyed at the sylvia episode. From my interpretation of it, she didn't summon the portal because it would direct attention and she says she was selfish in keeping him there for so long. The wound wasn't keeping her from her being able to do it, but it was why she couldn't defend herself while doing the magic.

Also the grandma part annoyed me a lot. Grey calls her grandma but in the story she asked him if he could once call her that before leaving. In the animation he acts like a child but really it should be that he is an old man and he was an orphan and had no family wtf does he know. He's still struggling with the fact that he doesn't and never has had a family but somehow he was reborn and has to figure it out. Her asking him to do that followed by elf girl and he wonders "is this what it's like to be a big bro" and it continues later as he tries to figure himself out. Rudeus is a pervert always btw I didn't read that to the end but he never stops it

Who says I didn't hear about it from here? Most taste-having people have a hard anti-isekai filter and are obviously going to skip trash like this

lmao, this

anti-isekai

not knowing what narou-kei is

Mushoku Tensei is a narou-kei that was initially written as wish-fulfillment slop based on Familiar of Zero (because narou-kei shit was all made in the same community of familiar of zero fanfic writers and never intended for mass consumption). When the protagonist leaves their home as a child in the first arc it dealt with their trauma and that resonated with readers so the author pivoted and turned it into a more serious book. All of the hate on Mushoku Tensei is focused on material from the very beginning of the story when it was still being written as a shitpost. The author has since doubled down on that content by recontextualizing in an even more controversial way in the redundancy chapters set after the main story in a way that makes sense with the more serious writing but is also highly questionable.

Most taste-having people

People like you should really get out of this space. Go watch american tv shows or something.

It seems like a worse mushoku, from the point of writing
Having animation budget of half bowl of plain rice a day doesn't help

What are you even trying to say? The reason one would have an anti-isekai filter is because most of them are narou, and you might also need to have a based-on-light-novel filter that you screen for false positives because none of these sites are honest about whether or not a given LN is just a published narou

and you might also need to have a based-on-light-novel filter that you screen for false positives because none of these sites are honest about whether or not a given LN is just a published narou

What are you talking about? Narou shit is pretty open about being Narou and there's even a massive list on the wikipage
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shōsetsuka_ni_Narō

This is an extra step when I should be able to go Based on a Narou: Hide and not have to second-guess every listing I read

The Samidare anime finally has competition...

Reddit hyped it so hard, it was supposed to be "their" MT. lol, lmao even

this is a weird case of an isekai where the original world seemed a hell of a lot more interesting than the current fantasy slop land that the story is now taking place in

its funny, every time "they" get "their" "anime" its always irredeemable slop.

I think it should've been satire about an evil stoic baby and how this baby keeps fucking shit up.

what even is that website? That isn't a narou series, it's a kakuyomu series. Different communities altogether.
Also the issue with narou specifically is that they're unserious works written for other people in that community, so they're full of campy references, inside jokes, and constantly remix each others ideas to see who can do it better. There's a lot of narou shit that's not isekai and has the same problems and there's a lot of non-narou isekai series that don't have that weird shitty writing.

is there an established hierarchy between narous, kakuyomus, webnovels, and AO3s? they're all trash that never go anywhere written by amateur authors for free

It's kind of different. Really it's not all of narou that's the problem, but a small part of it.
The tl;dr is:

Narou used to allow fanfics

The Familiar of Zero fandom wrote a ton of fanfics based on the series.

They'd take the premise and swap the protag by having it be a character from another IP or their own OC that got summoned or they'd change other things about the premise.

It basically became a big autistic circlejerk where they'd just consume and regurgitate each other's retarded wish fulfillment wish garbage. Basically like the undertale autists youtu.be/FFIs6LsV0a4?t=1189 . These works are aimed at other people in the community, that's why the protagonists constantly say shit like "oh is this like one of those isekai things" and reference web novels even though isekai web novels were obscure as fuck back when those lines were written.

At some point Narou decided to ban fanfics but instead of leaving the site, the autists just started writing new "original works".

That community eventually gained popularity among Japanese kids who like slop content and it led to their works being turned into LNs/manga/anime.

To put it differently, imagine if

the Dragon Ball Super general moved to Anon Babble and started writing fanfics

Anon Babble bans fanfics to get rid of them

they keep making their general by skirting the rules (like they do here even though generals are banned on Anon Babble) and start making Dragon Ball-like "original works"

eventually their content gains popularity among kids who like slop content and all of the big studios start adapting their slop into books, comics, TV shows and movies.

That's basically what happened with the Familiar of Zero fandom on narou. The problem isn't that they're amateur writers but rather that it's an autistic fandom that spiraled out of control.

Lmao, Koreans pissed off again?

shit ton of NTR bait

What NTR bait? I've read up to 215(?) and there's no NTR bait that I've noticed besides the time when the elf-wife gets taken hostage by the jerk from his first adventuring party who later becomes a schoolmate. Unless you're talking about girls getting cucked, then yeah there's plenty of that, but that's par for wish fulfillment slop.

Is this how modern isekai genre exploded in popularity? Fascinating.

I feel like this specific isekai fandom is a scapegoat for a larger trend of publishers letting otaku create and promote their own disposable slop content as the financial need to keep expanding the market and keep machines running and people employed makes it unfeasible to invest in high-tier professional creative talent to make something that will withstand the test of time

It's ok, but every criticism over it is beyond retarded, or at least 50% of it. Every criticism over it is:
1. This is like Mushoku Tensei
2. It looks bad
The first one is just too stupid to even take it into consideration. Now the second one is an acceptable opinion to have, but I still don't think is that important, take Arafou for example, the worst looking anime of the year, but it was well liked and even beloved everywhere, surely with a budget it would have been even better but it wasn't that necessary, which also raises the question, do you really believe TBATE would have been the greatest thing with budget? Because I don't think so, like I said above, it's ok at best.

Have you taken into consideration my complaint that it's made for sad emo boys who grew old and became country music artists? Is that what Mushoku Tensei is?

From what I've seen, it's literally "What if mushoku tensei but korean powerfantasy?", so I doubt it would've been a hit. Apparently it does deviate later on and gets better, so maybe it could've reached some solo leveling tier powerfantasy autism and, with good animation, it could've popped off, but I don't know since I've never read it.

But why are you hanging out with emo boys who grew old and became country music artists? Any popular one?

Both things are true actually, the isekai situation got out of control when Kadokawa decided to start to air over 50 anime per year.

Literally the only reason moralfags choose TBATE over Mushoku is because MC is not pedo

That's it, really

a great deal of it is about how king grey who never had family and was used by everyone in his previous life has finally learned to become close with others. I don't agree with his story but I found it a compelling story to watch. that was one of my complaints in the OP is that the anime didn't adapt one of the steps he took

have you read the source material? please make some comparisons

Meh

im one of the few souls who gave the manwha a try and i can honestly say the anime has better quality than it

the drawings, especially in the beginning are abysmal dogshit
the story is absolutely ass, goes nowhere and the MC wank in this is unbearable, especially because he isn't even cool, or funny, or smart
characters either suck the mc's dick or are comically evil
i stopped reading it somewhere during the school arc because the cringe "mc totally cool look guys" moments were just too much

At some point Narou decided to ban fanfics but instead of leaving the site, the autists just started writing new "original works".

That community eventually gained popularity among Japanese kids who like slop content and it led to their works being turned into LNs/manga/anime.

Complete and utter bullshit and wishful thinking.
FACT: Getting LN/manga/anime from a WN would never even be dreamed of if it wasn't for Maouyuu (picked up by Enterbrain from 2ch) and then Log Horizon (picked up by Enterbrain on Narou) both written by Mamare and neither being even remotely similar to ZnT.
FACT: The oldest known "modern isekai"-style WN (although it got LN/manga only quite a bit later and no anime yet), Wortenia Senki, is not even remotely similar to ZnT besides "MC being isekai-summoned by a wizard".

All this bullshit about isekai being a consequence of ZnT-fanfics (or as some claim "Disgaea fanfics") has no basis in reality. Same with SAO, which got published on an elite label, so it contributed to WNs becoming LNs as much as the One Punch Man webcomic created a boom of webcomic-turned-manga, i.e. none at all (except for Isekai Tensei Oji-san for the latter which had an anime last season, I guess).

Not exactly a high bar
