On the other hand, there have been actual cases of series that were seemingly ending actually ending. I don't know in which camp this falls under.

Today's Nue chapter was seriously great! A few funny moments like Gakuro talking to Raisei like his GF's ex and Isshu freaking out, but what I REALLY like is Raisei being still "in love" with Nue. He talks about her like she's a temptress, willing or not...

...Yet does it without hate. It's more like self reflection, with self loathing even.

We see in the chapter something we haven't before with him: a smile. He smiles to Nue despite the plan in place to stop him. Like it's a game between the two of them.

What is also VERY important is that he says what he says about Nue... To Gakuro. He compares himself to him, even.

And we know for a fact about Gakuro's self esteem issues and how Nue changed him.

Raisei is not talking out of his ass. Hell, it's almost like a friendly advice for Gakuro which he was glad to give.

Couple this talk with Nue's line about not being able to save him, and Nue's inevitable flashback becomes even more important...

And thus we are just one chapter away from both second anniversary and the long awaited Summer Festival.

Gakuro stated his resolution in giving an answer even in this chapter, so I cannot wait to see what he says! I'm both excited and scared...

Syd actually had a serious chapter finally, which is nice. And with proper relationship progress at the end too. It's probably because the series is speeding up developments in response to low rankings, but I'm still glad to see it trying something different regardless.

Actually a lot of progress on the romance side overall this issue. Syd had a kiss, Himaten introduced a new girl, Blue Box had the two finally go on a real date, Raisei confessed, and Witch Watch aged up Nico a bunch (old enough to remember she loves Moi). Even Chojo did a date chapter. WSJ's author's were feeling the romantic mood before Golden Week it seems.
