Let's be honest that the main plot is extremely padded and really not enough happened to justify the number of episodes yet and the mystery-of-the-week plots it's padded with just aren't that interesting.

This is in general kind of the problem with these adaptation television series. They're based on source material written by one person so it can't be all that good. If you watch something like Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the mysteries of the weak are far more clver because they're written by a team that's brainstorming so when one writer can't figure it out another one has a good idea and jumps in so all the mysteries and resolutions to it are far more clever.

The rape scenes were kind of good in the middle one though it was also extremely ridiculous in many ways, The rape prince design just wasn't.

Also, there's actually a rape prince anthology series with each chapter by a different artist. All European though but some of the rape scenes are really good, including some actual painful anal scenes.

Anon, I have pretty much never commented on the plot details of this title beyond simply saying that I think the it's thinly spread, which it is. If you have seen me actually comment on the details, then you don't need me to say what I think the plot is, and you can just, as I asked you from the start, point out where I'm supposedly wrong and what I misunderstand.

But fine, here's something I understand: The protagonist is actually the illegitimate offspring of a very powerful brilliant general with a courtesan, they actually loved each other very much and respected each other's intellectual ability but some shit and communication errors happened and the general only found out much later that he actually had a child. It took pretty much all of the first season to culminate into that, but sure. So, what about that did I misunderstand somehow?

See, you don't understand what's going on. You just explained the backstory of the protagonist's parents. The actual plot is the conspiracy against the royal family and the power struggle and court intrigue between different factions. This has been playing out since episode 1.

Not only is that a completely different thing unrelated to what I just said and just another element of the plot, it also wasn't really revealed yet at that point in the television series and even now it's mostly just dropping hints and only starting to get into that.

This too isn't there enough outside of one shots but yeah that rape prince anthology does have a couple of good bad endings because it's a one shit and they're typically braver in those.

It's not just another element of the plot. It is the main plot. Almost everything that has been happening is connected to it. It didn't just start developing in the most recent episode. You just weren't paying attention.

Love that series, sad the manga for it was so short. Was just thinking about how some things concerning Lakan had reminded me of Reishin so I held back on judging him till we got the full story. Both of them are high on my list of favorite characters too.

I don't like how mysteries and elements are often introduced and solved within the 20 minutes of an episode but maybe I'm just not used to serialized detective flicks

They're all small parts of bigger plots so they're not exactly fully solved at the time
