That pretty much sums up the story beats in all the drama in MyMujica. Even in MyGO, Soyo’s drama ends up feeling like nothing once you realize it all comes from her trying to revive a dead band. In the grand scheme, it serves no real purpose other than to stir up drama so the characters can either break or bond.

Even with the unmasking, the focus is more on Mutsumi’s mental decline than the state of the band itself. And later on with the Sakiko and Uika/Hatsune stuff, they never really dive into the gritty, objective side of the drama (like the granpa and real Uika. It always sticks to the direct conflict between characters. In the end, everything circles back to the characters.

Regarding the father, Mygo explains why it is supposed to be a big event within the series, although it doesn't get into it at all.

Despite what some may say, it is kinda like that. Now that the series has ended, there are many things that were left up to interpretation of the viewers.
I personally loved the direction of this series, in particular the episodes that lean hard into the kitsch-barosque-gothic vibe. I think it is a rather interesting animu all around, but you should watch Mygo first if you want to get like, half the drama.

i know that this is an attempt to revive the thread, but I still don't understand how people can't see the point in taking off masks...

MyGO is much more of a slow burn than Mujica's roller coaster jumping through fiery hoops every episode. There are definitely people that started with Mujica but I certainly don't recommend it since it ultimately is still a character driven show and half the character relationships are in MyGO.

Fwiw, I think MyGO is the better show but few shows have entertained me like Mujica did. I have wasted probably weeks of my life in these threads.

Additionally, MyGO 13 is effectively Mujica episode 0. Even if you didn't want to sit through MyGO, you should at least watch that.
