Started reading this and it's really neat so far but I can't help but feel while reading that the story will somehow end badly for everyone involved because, maybe it's just because it's by the Hyouge Mono author.

I really liked the isolation and weirdness of the early days with Pal at the beginning of the manga, makes me wonder if humanity was all like that in the beginning

Well I just read chapter 1 and the premise is certainly there. Art is decent and I like the character art and expressions. Felt like a bit of a sudden revelation without much build up, what with the world ending and his family dying, but that's not uncommon for first chapters. I would've liked more time to introduce the protagonist between waking up and discovering things have gone wrong. Oh well. It's on my list of things to read now. Thanks for the rec OP.

It's interesting to see a manga explores the primal struggle of humanity from first principles like this in current year. Based on the subject matter and the art style, I thought this was from the 90's or something.
The expressive eyes and the characters not being safe from death reminds me of Azumi. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to translate them as well.

I feel like this story treats human cannibalism too casually with humans being treated like cows for their bones, meat, and skin. You expect there would be myths or stories of side effects of eating human meat after 500 years since the locals do not possesses any knowledge of prions
