It is rumored that 25% of the total chapters in the site

It's so over for Mangadex

[citation needed]

where i will get my dose of ntr now?

Works on my machine

Is there a list of the lost series?

It actually works on a server and now your machine can't access a quarter of it.

What's the quarter?

I am currently reading there.
Is there really any evidence of missing chapters due to the take down? I haven't noticed a damn

using MangaDex to begin with

It was over for you guys before it began..

Sure, none of our "licensed" distributors carry half of these manga... But,

Just support the author and publisher of these 30 year old volumes that you literally can't buy anywhere but ebay for 300 dollars from a 3rd party!

Economic suicide to be honest

Well, it was fun to use that site.

Uma Musume Pretty Derby: Star Blossom

GONE

Uma Musume Cinderela Grey

STILL THERE
This is what I can't stand. It's inconsistent.

chinkshit and gookshit not nuked

What's the fucking point?

I do the Shima Kosaku storytimes and as someone in that thread just pointed out, Division Chief (the second series) got nuked. The first series and the one currently being translated are still there though.

why though? why do IPs owners hate fun so damn much?? their income won't increase anyway, fighting websites such as that one is pointless. stupid system

Is there any validity to the rumor from last night that this is all because of shekel hoarders getting pissed and squealing after Mangadex's new update that basically banned people from advertising their paywalled chapters

What other sites do you guys know about?

Nikaidou is gone

Who the fuck asked for this? Has ANY FKMT manga beyond Kaiji Part 1 been released in English?

Bugle Call is gone

That's the thing. They don't care whether a series is licensed or not. It's the fact niche series are hit that made me so mad. Fucking imbeciles.

Who the fuck asked for this?

Nip suits, I don't know if they believe that will help them sell more or just a move to have more power over the industry. In either case it's such a bullshit and retarded move.

its never been so over

7.jpg - 1072x1368, 185.78K

You know what's still standing?

file.png - 613x334, 244.59K

Mangafire

Might as well just delist themselves. The site has no purpose now.

They download. You too can have a ton of wasted memory!

What's the point if they leave all the non english translations?

the entire Kindaichi series are nuked

it's only licensed in Indonesia

Literally retarded move

So thats what happened, last night I noticed some title had little to no chapters when it used to have multiple pages of prior chapters TL'd.

I don't mind the wasted memory, it's dirt cheap nowadays and manga isn't large. What I mind is the inconvenience of not getting new chapters automatically. It's fine for finished stuff, for running manga it's a nuisance.

It's all a conspiracy to make you learn brazillian.

25% of the total chapters

sounds like we're half way there. the updates page is unusable due to how much slop that gets uploaded

Japanese companies taking down manga that has never gotten (and most likely will never) official releases outside of Japan especially super old and niche stuff

incredible

The CHADs of Anon Babble have you covered.

They and a lot of authors genuinely don't care. Their mindset is that if you can't legally purchase it then you shouldn't be able to read it. They would rather take away potential eyeballs because Japanese only approve of things being done in the official way. There was a whole thing in one of the threads last night about how Japs look down on others and see them as morally reprehensible for being resellers or buying things second hand because you're taking away money from the original creators and companies.

shika poster, looks like they got Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan

file.png - 1498x1367, 757.77K

stupid copyright bullshit. I bet their sales ain't increasing at all just because so many stuff got nuked from the website. people will make others and others
such prohibitions are so mean spirited

For the vast majority of things that got nuked there's a good argument to be made that this either
- won't impact sales at all, as the works are not licensed/out of print
- will decrease sales as it loses a whole bunch of potential reach

Thank you manga publishers, this sure does positively impact my ability to reread Billy Bat.

I don't mind the wasted memory either, mangas aren't heavy enough to worry about and I keep most of the stuff I torrent anyways. I agree with the annoyance of not having a place that tracks all new releases, but even with completed manga it's annoying because nyaa will often not have complete packs sourced from scanlators and instead will go for official sources that might not have even caught up to the manga or been discontinued, and even if they pick a scanlation team it will be the one I don't like reading instead of the best one.

I honestly wouldn't mind stuff getting taken down if there was a paid alternative service of equal quality, this is Napster shit all over again.

They don't care if it's taking away sales (despite the arguments). For the Japs it's a moral thing. You're not reading it in the official manner by buying through an official publisher in an approved marketplace is morally reprehensible. You are actually worse than a rapist or murderer or pedophile for it. The work you want to read isn't available in your country? Then you shouldn't read it. The only way that (You), as a foreigner, should ever read manga that's not available in your country is by spending years to learn Japanese and then buying ONLY the Japanese published versions. Unless of course you quite literally can't legally purchase it because of payment processor bullshit. Then you're shit out of luck, no manga for you. The law is the law and we live in a rules based society after all.

I've heard if you don't defend your IP rights it can weaken your legal position in case of a conflict, maybe they're planning on making more dough off of the English market in the coming years.

You say this in slight jest but the Japanese are retarded enough that they actually believe this.

It means the site will soon be renamed into ChinkDex or GookDex

I just plug in all possible sources on tachiyomi, do a global search of whatever I want to read, then manually parse each source until I find one with all the chapters available. Then I make sure to download all the chapters in case the source goes down or some other technical shit prevents me from accessing it again

and then buying ONLY the Japanese published versions

Which are often a third to half of the price of licensed content, even when bought in physical instead of digital form.

Good. Manga artists were losing sales because nihonjin who speak english can just read the scanlation instead of buying the japanese version. If you really like manga you should be happy about this.

NOOOOOOO

And The Fable as well....I shoulda checked what team was translating Bugle Call so I could join their discord ...

Itagaki wanted us to see the end of bestboi's fight before he took the chapters down

if you learn indo you get access to a shitton of scans, easy language as well

So what you're really saying is piracy is morally correct as retaliation.

Suwayomi won't let me migrate manga I'm reading off MangaDex, I wonder if there's something else that broke
This manga in particular survived the purge but I just want to move everything off just in case

No, I agree. If I'm saying it in jest then it's to mock that very mindset. To use an example, if you're going to a joshi show there's usually rules about picture taking including not using your phone to take pictures of the wrestlers (outside of matches) because you're expected to pay for photos at the merch table after the show. The otaku will get unironically pissed and tattle on someone if they break that rule.

yeah why the fuck is manga so expensive abroad? I was on vacation in Indonesia last year, the manga costs like 1/3rd of the price (the print quality is shit though, but good enough to read)

Because they think the people that read it are crazy fans that will buy it at any price? No idea, localization costs next to nothing, so that can't be a justification. Ironically digital versions are often more expensive in Japan too. They're just stuck in the 90s.

There's reason Japan is stagnated as a country. They're still living in their own world.

Can anyone find a legitimate excuse why the One Punch Man webcomic was taken down? Any actual manga series I can understand would count as some kind of violation of law in japan and why they could ask to take it down.
But the damn webcomic? Dex was the only place you could read all of the webcomic and Mob Psycho 100 correctly because any other place usually just siterips and the bots got confused how to number the chapters correctly because chapters always came out in parts.

So, anyone wanna take up the mantle and start a new site based from a country that actually encourages piracy like Russia or best Korea?

Zero.jpg - 1920x1080, 132.05K

morally reprehensible for buying things second hand because you're taking away money from the original creators and companies.

Just today I saw an article from the Times in my feed about the "ethics" of buying used books / media. I guess this explains what the issue is, even though it's a complete nonissue (people who buy an author's used books or w/e, and enjoy them, often become the type of fan who are willing to buy new releases or editions, vs those people who never can become fans, because there's no used editions available for them and new ones are cost prohibitive.)
If creators were smart they'd be embracing their potential impoverished (poorfag) audience by making samples or earlier works available for free online. Musicians basically already do this by putting their albums on streaming services and praying that people who listen will buy merch / see them live, since Spotify dividends are worthless. Mangakas need to get real.

If you make it conventient enough you could extract a reasonable subscription fee from a massive audience. But the publishers will probably fight each other to their death before that happens.

difference in markets, i can't say for certain since i wasn't around to see when manga were first being sold in the west, but since manga are sold as graphic novels they price them the same as them.

vice versa though when DVDs and bluray were a thing people bought you could buy an entire season for the same price as japs pay for 2 or 3 episodes on the same format due to differences in the markets.

file.png - 847x832, 659.54K

Goodnight Punpun is gone.

Yawn. Stop being brown and host your own media server

Retard.

Mangakas need to get real.

To be fair, I doubt the mangakas have much agency in anything, they basically sold their souls the their publisher and are lucky if they get a decent cut of all the money others make at their expense. Tough, I'm only speaking from rehearsal, maybe things are not what I read long ago.

What stop them from deleting the site? Given the scale of the purge it must be multiple publishers working together.

GTO and Tower Dungeon are gone

Fuck, both of these were in my Plan to Read.

only 3 (out of 11, admittedly) series are left.

Licensing fees + books in general are expensive in the West. The fastest way to burn $100 in any retail store is to go to Barnes & Noble.

So when are Japanese publishers going after Anon Babble?

Storytimes are constant

Pages are still in the archive

Come on, faggots, kneel. Make the website worse like I know you want to.

well this seems dumb.
the old wing gundam manga got wiped.
it doesn't have a digital release, just an old out of print physical release.

here's some other shit in my list just gone:

The Promised Neverland

Arakure Ojousama wa Monmon Shiteiru

My Wife Has No Emotion

Saki

My Girlfriend Is 8 Meters Tall

Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san

Jujutsu Kaisen

B-8.jpg - 830x830, 114.6K

this is kind of a terrible take. like, not in an antagonistic way, but yes their income will increase? it will obviously increase. like manga is the most popular thing right now. it's mainstream. and that mainstream audience is fucking dumb. like google's crusade to put ads into youtube is genuinely getting people to convert to premium because they just cant be bothered. you think the reddit posting tiktok anituber watching mangadex user isn't going to just pay for a subscription to a dogshit service that puts censor bars over fully clothed women the second it becomes too difficult for them to get manga for free?

the final dream of the new management

cocktail knights gone

Fucking why? It's not like publishers fucking own it anymore.

Oh yeah, Paradise Lost still wasn't done getting translated.
Meh, unless Onizuka gets married or something.

They will probably just attack in waves until the MangaDex owner folds and quits entirely.

Musicians basically already do this by putting their albums on streaming services and praying that people who listen will buy merch / see them live, since Spotify dividends are worthless. Mangakas need to get real

Every manga should have an official fanbox, let people pool their money to commission "official" art/porn

The archives are not hosted by Anon Babble. Publishers have to report every copyrighted image, and the host can avoid legal problems by taking them down. It's not worth their effort.

If they took it down they still own it, they probably own the chapters the author released on shitter as well.

I assume this is all feel good nonsense to appease investors?

look we knocked out XX% of piracy! that'll totally correlate to sales!

Where else can I go?

Mangadex should just shut down at this point, all they're doing is harming scanlations by giving people false hope that they could continue serving as a centralized hub after this. Let them die and let another tree sprout in its place until it is eventually that tree's turn to get chopped down as well to make space for the next site.

Surely this time manga piracy will be killed for real.

Musicians basically already do this by putting their albums on streaming services and praying that people who listen will buy merch / see them live

Even before streaming, the real money never came from album sales, so it was easy for them to adapt. Print media has always been super uptight.

This and this The numbers must keep going up forever and if you're not in that system you're Satan himself.

completely forgot, thanks.

But it's always easy to get manga for free. It's getting them in high quality scan the hard part, and mainstream audience doesn't care about quality. They will just use the next shitty ad-ridden aggregator.

This is why I keep telling you fags to DOWNLOAD.

why the fuck was RED taken down do they have shit for brains?

1st time? it was mangafox > batoto > mangadex
Time to move on to another site

Eh piracy will never die, but the site most likely will. But as always, another one will rise up from it (If the haven't done already). Better write the manga titles I bookmarked on a text file. For when I have to search for those again

Japan has been fucked in this regard since forever so that isn't shocking. Seeing this shit being gaslit towards people in the west not days is funny as hell though, and incredibly sad. Even ignoring the whole big corpo dick sucking, now everyone can afford things at full price, nor wants to, that's a simple fact of life. The whole "piracy is theft" bullshit is silly enough as it is, but this shit here is the next fucking level. Very much reminds me of EAs Online Pass from the early 360 era, when they tried to undermine used copy people, which backfired hard fucking core on them.
Just like the western media (TV/Movie) industry. They could all very simply work together and make Netflix the biggest thing ever, just like it used to be in the early VoD days, instead they all made their own service and every single one (but netflix) are bleeding money like crazy.
This, plus the fact that the money people get from streaming is MINISCULE, pretty much worthless if you aren't reaching a noteworthy amount of listens.

But it's always easy to get manga for free.

it's pretty easy to just click two buttons to get adblocking working again in youtube, but if mangadex went down these people legitimately wouldnt know what to do outside of a reddit thread or an anituber breaking down the "drama" for them on youtube. one reddit thread suggesting they can just pay five bucks a month to use square's service because it's just easier and that's it, man. mission successful

nta but YES

It's so fucking lame, man. That shit was great and it's so obscure I have no hope it'll be hosted somewhere else.

Maybe I should finally update my MAL so I don't forget what I was reading. Or I could just find a way to export my list off dex.

the old wing gundam manga got wiped.

That's exceptionally petty by whoever wrote thar DMCA.

I don't even know how to discord, how will I stay in touch with scanlation groups that only uploaded their shit to mangadex?

Or I could just find a way to export my list off dex.

Hey, just like last time with Batoto!

Only good news I've had all day.

I have a spare 65 gb flashdrive. How many series could I fit there?

GTO

my local library has the whole collection but some other user is reading it at the same time as me and the guy is always keeping the books for the full two months period so I'm always waiting on this faggot to return his shit....

Depends on the way the pages are saved.
In other words: Who the fuck knows.

Saki

Fuck

I don't even know how to discord

Learn how.

Some still use IRC. Also helps feeling like you're still young

Jin... please come back...

Assuming each page is 2MB, and volume roughly 400MB, you could fit 162.5 volumes on it, so it depends on if you want long or short series.

How would you keep track of hundreds of mango released by dozens of different groups on dickscord? Also how would you not get propositioned by a tranny on dickscord?

This is important.

Better write the manga titles I bookmarked on a text file

This is a good reminder to do that while the site is still up, ty anon

How would you keep track of hundreds of mango released by dozens of different groups on dickscord?

You use mangaupdates and see when a new release is added, then go to the scanlator page or discord and get the chapter.

Why doesn't Dex go the Crunchyroll route and go legit?

i dont give a fuck im not buying shit

I add all the groups in a one discord category, once per month I'll go through their release pages to catch up. Other than that I don't even glance at their other tabs unless I want to understand why something isn't on it's regular release schedule.

This seems smarter though, maybe I should start using mangaupdates

for years I've always a word file listing all the manga I read. Just in case any site I use like MAL or the 'dex got taken down.

Better write the manga titles I bookmarked

this is why I fucking love using tachyomi or any of it's clones, makes keeping track of things so piss easy. doesn't help that I can't be bothered to read shit on PC, but even if I wanted to, there is clients to the PC anyway.

Because CR already tried and failed, and there's a shit ton of publishers to consolidate all manga under one site.

find a way to export my list off dex.

I remember doing this a few years ago, I just googled 'how to export stuff from mangadex' and someone had already made a simple userscript

So where can I go or what do I do now that a bunch of series I was reading got wiped? I checked nyaa but it doesn't seem to have everything

shut up and stop begging redditor

Next time he does to return the books be waiting for him.

i think comick mirrors mangadex' stuff

It's insane to me how even on Anon Babble, a place that's supposed to have some semblance of tech literacy, there were so many people who only got their manga from fucking one single source.
I use at least 6 different sites + torrents to find manga, it's not like shit didn't get nuked from mangadex all the time anyways (some anons mentioned Fool Night in previous threads and that was already missing recent chapters on mangadex).

go the Crunchyroll route and go legit?

Every single former piracy site that went "legit" turned to dogshit.

Looks like Japanese publishers are finally getting serious about cracking down on piracy, taking a cue from Korean publishers. Big thanks to KAKAO!

Exactly, I've been spoiled. But I tracked on Mangadex only so I have a lot of work to do this weekend to re-align my manga tracking, and that's assuming that groups will be uploading to one of the other supported sites (or those sites will scrape the place of uploading).

try mangafire

We made a product, but we don't sell it in the rest of the world, so people made their own versions based on ours. Should we adapt our product to sell them an official version?

No, it's the consumers who should adapt to us.

It doesn't surprise me that Japan has been in more or less an economic crisis for the past 30 years.

Also how would you not get propositioned by a tranny on dickscord?

don't go find tranny communities

don't encounter trannies

Pretty simple. I'm on several discord for a bunch of random hobbies including anime ones and I've never had to deal with tranny shenanigans.

kek that would be pretty funny and creepy

everyone does, but mangadex was so convenient that unless there are missing chapters I would never bother going directly to the scanlator's blog or discord to get chapters a bit sooner or in higher quality. Once something gets blammed it's a pain to have to look for the source, for manga that I just read out of habit I'll give up on it and move on to something easier to find.

As it stands I'm not too hurt because only four comics I read were completely nuked. Going to make a backup list of what I'm reading to be safe though.

I still have dozens of heads left, but yeah I'm going to make a lot of backup since they're going carpet bombing style.

i was in the middle of reading xxxholic and got kicked off of it
its a massive shame because its so fucking hard to find downloads/torrents for manga and sites are going down left and right
if people still seeded shit this wouldnt be an issue, seems like more and more manga and literature are getting lost to time because the few people who seed them are offline forever
they need to make it a law that all copyrights lose their authority after 5-10 years

IMG_6930.jpg - 282x282, 54.76K

Does AB host every/all manga series from Mangadex library?

nyaa.si, mangakakalot and its derivatives (full of ads though), sometimes archive.org

they need to make it a law that all copyrights lose their authority after 5-10 years

The Disney hitmen will arrive at your location shortly, please stand by.

Are other sites going down?

(full of ads though)

THIS DOOD HAS ADS
LOOK AT HIM AND LAAAAAAAAAAUGH

a-ads need to be there otherwise it d-doesnt work!!!

stop using garbage adblocker you turd, bet you think that yt ads can't be blocked either

Good evening I went out with friends and one of them very forcefully "offered" me a bump of coke, gave me an entire bag which I poured some out of and I feel I did a much bigger bump than intended (probably like half the fucking bag) and now its 1:30am and I am fucking wired.

Just felt the need to share as I cry over my manga piracy site dying (again)

over my manga piracy site dying (again)

again

this will never not be hilarious to me, because you faggots never fucking learn to go and find some alternatives for cases like this

A lot of people hate it but it's the same reason why Comiket is only possible in Japan.

The chinese stuff has Billibilli protection

How to export my MangaDex library to a local file? Just the series names is fine. Just in case the whole site goes down next.

I think last I checked the xxxHolic scans were garbage. The omnibus versions on nyaa aren't seeded anymore?
I keep seeing people still saying they use the reading site to keep track of what they read. And every time they need to scramble to figure out how to move it to somewhere else.

Holic.png - 1157x617, 470.6K

Remember that they had the world in the palm of their hand in the early 2000s and did nothing with it. They didn't attempt to aggressively market any of their pop culture outside of Japan and the Koreans saw what they were(n't) doing and did the opposite. I remember like 15ish years ago JASRAC was going around and filing DMCA claims on J-Pop MVs on Youtube and it's only in the last year where Hello! Project has started uploading music to streaming sites (not Morning Musume though).

I don't know if I went to the right site or not because I turned off my blocker and still didn't see anything

All my bookmarks

Gone with the wind

Everything that I enjoy the satanic world takes from me to destroy and corrupt

There's so much shit on here that will never ever have an official translation. Jap publishers are a bunch of cocksuckers

I'll create the logo!

am i going to have to make folders for every single chapter of the series i read now...

You block ads anon? Cringe.

dungeon meshi all gone

shame

Amae-chan survived

based, but with this news I’m not taking any chances and scraping that shit as soon as possible

calm down i use ublock, but the average retard here probably doesn't, especially if they dont know about other manga sites
its a 50/50, i dont even know if the original mangakakalot site exists anymore most of them are just offshoots, doesnt really matter to me as long as they work

I'll called this new site Google.

and now instead of making their own massive anime streaming platform, they sell the rights to Netflix, Amazon, Crunchyroll...

I think last I checked the xxxHolic scans were garbage

the translation mangadex had was horse shit, but i liked it because of the sort of crude engrish charm it had
but after mangadex went down i had to start reading the scan that you could see the yellowing of the fucking pages on
i'll look at the one nyaa.si has though, i just haven't torrented manga in a while because i was lazy

Mangakas need to get real.

The issue is that so much of the Japanese entertainment media is tied together. You're not really going to make it as a mangaka in Japan just posting your work on Twitter or Pixiv. Even series that started in those venues, like Green Music Dykes and Smoking Behind the Supermarket eventually moved over to being exclusively or simultaneously published in "real" magazines because the publishers have the connections to music/animation companies so that's the only way you're getting an anime made and then getting the Ado/YOASOBI/whatever big J-Slop artist is being pushed by Sony or Pony Canyon or whatever. There's no real point in going the indie route because you're never going to make enough to sustain yourself. Look at indie idols: most of them work shoot jobs (I'm talking like konbini wagie work) and there's no money at all in it. Hell, a big problem with groups is that they get TOO big because the costs go up but they're still indies so not making enough money to pay the bills which inevitably leads to the group being disbanded.

Better to figure out how covert to a CBR or CBZ file, but RAR will do fine until then, and you can open it with something like SumatraPDF and read it easy.
Might ask Anon Babble in the Win O' Thread how it works.

Is there a real translation of the first part of Baki somewhere or is it only from Wild Fang Faggot?

Well, my alternative is fine for now, so that's nice.
Always try to have two or three options.

Just like with Batoto, a successor will emerge.

I use this old technology called "bookmarks" and save everything I last read. You can even edit those bookmarks.

least retarded mongoloid itt

they should make a site called manganigger surely they won't take down something with that name

Their softpower happen thanks to piracy. Do they even realize that.

You all sound like fucking new faggots, if the site dies there'll be another to replace it soon, as it happened to one manga, batoto and now this shit

I would love if there was a quality translation somewhere, when I read Baki in order years ago it was a pain slodging through the first arc scans

I haven't lived through OneManga, MangaFox, Batoto, and probably one or two others I'm forgetting to not learn.
And no I'm not telling you the site, fuck you you're probably a glowie.

And no I'm not telling you the site

that's because you don't have one

fuck you you're probably a glowie.

calm your Anon Babbleautism faggot, I was literally only making a joke to praise your retarded ass.

i can't say for certain since i wasn't around to see when manga were first being sold in the west

During the boom, the standard (thanks to Tokyopop) was $9.99 per volume and it basically stayed that way until about the last 5-7 years where they've started upping the prices to like $12.99 or more. Viz was a little cheaper at $7.99 but Tokyopop was basically the standard.

Was in the middle of rereading it

Thought the site was just shitting itself again

mfw checking and finding it all nuked

I honestly should have moved on from mangadex when the site started shitting itself earlier in the year.

So, what's the best option if I want to download a full, completed series?

which tells us the DMCA happened in March/April

file.png - 1719x308, 94.28K

the one everyone uses

So people were still using Mangadex?
It was slow as hell and lacked chapters for most of the officially localized series

wish they could've given a few hours headsup so people coulve archived their series...

I stopped caring much for it but the issue is scanlators

mangafox

mangafox2.jpg - 728x1224, 318.51K

at least batoto still houses 99% of my yuri manhwas and manhuas

GO BACK TO YOUR CONTAINMENT BOARD FOR FUCKS SAKE

No, it was just something I used when I needed it. It wasn't slow for me, in fact it was very fast. If it didn't have what I wanted, I went elsewhere. It was just convenient and the loss of convenience feels bad.

Eh piracy will never die

It will if it becomes inconvenient. Crunchyroll and simulsubs killed fansubs. If these publishers are smart they'd invest in Mangadex as a Crunchyroll for manga (unlike Crunchyroll's failed attempt at getting into manga) instead of worrying about their shitty apps and that'd be a huge blow to piracy.

Crunchyroll and simulsubs killed fansubs

But not piracy, they only lowered the potential quality of things, not the concept as a whole.

Grow up

Maybe I should finally update my MAL

MAL got bought by a tech grifter company into "blockchain technology" so you should probably abandon it.

Japan lives in a fantasy land of high trust where the average person isn't malicious, or a scammer, or trying to push some political agenda. Therefore they cannot understand why people in the west are increasingly pirating and not supporting things.
Most of the West was high trust until the "diversity" waves and all the conflict that comes from it.

streaming manga

slow as hell

huh? Mangadex always instantly loaded chapters for me
was mangafox before or after onemanga?

Shut up and buy the official release in Japanese with a +$30 scalper tax and $75 import fee

There was a whole thing in one of the threads last night about how Japs look down on others and see them as morally reprehensible for being resellers or buying things second hand because you're taking away money from the original creators and companies.

Ironic when book off, hard off, and several other chains exist as thriving second hand chains. Even more so when those brands also expanded overseas.

retard

retard retard retard. you are not an oldfag and you will never fit in

These fags always wanted to become legit like Crunchyroll and get rich, that's why they kissed publisher asses. Look where it got them. Fuck them.

Didn't the Log Horizon (or some other big mangaka) post here one time saying "If you can't buy it I don't mind if you pirate it. Just buy it if you can and you enjoy it"?

Arakure Ojousama wa Monmon Shiteiru

Fuck
Hopefully scrapers will still have updates

Just reminder that they localize manga based on popularity on site like mangadex. Fucking hypocrites.

source?

I-ITS JUST TRU, BECAUSE IT JUST IS, OKAY!?

tapas/kakao are taking down all the korean scanlators
they're also taking down web novel translators
japanese publishers are taking down mangadex
is this some sort of collaborative simultaneous attack on the scanlation scene?

I'm on a scan team and we had to directly email a localizer belonging to the publisher of a series we were working on to ask if they had a form for license suggestions. This was so we could redirect our readers directly to that form so that the localizer would know there's growing interest in the series. They told us they don't have a submission form and instead keep a strong pulse on the social media chatter to see what series Westerners are talking about. They literally admit to waiting for something with scans to get a fandom instead of having a form where people can at least pretend to legally ask for a series to be licensed.

was mangafox before or after onemanga?

after

I seriously don't get it. Mangadex has multiple scrapers and most of the manga that got nuked are still available on those other sites. Unless those sites don't get DMCA'd too, finding the missing stuff is literally one Google or Yandex search away. Why are people acting like the sky is falling? It sucks for MD and who knows how this will affect ongoing or upcoming translations moving forward, but in the short-term it's still really easy to find whatever manga that got deleted. I imagine a lot of people aren't even using MD to begin with but rather one of the scraper sites.

Just gonna be annoying for the updates to all consolidate on some other site.

I was about to start purging my downloaded manga folder that is 1.5TB.

Why are people acting like the sky is falling?

Zoomers that never lived through dozens of these sites opening and closing.

Real question, why does no one simply host a torrent tracker, integrate webtorrent into user accounts, require seeding like the last 10-20 chapters you've viewed, and have the site reader display your local copy?

Troons got piss last week and most likely report the website.

I'd understand other sites like Reddit, MAL, Twitter, etc., but this is fucking Anon Babble. I expected better from you all. And no, I don't buy the "we have Madokami and Nyaa" excuses, because people don't even *need* to resort to those (yet).

Onemanga has been around since like 2008. Before that people were going to MSN groups.

Zoomers are in their mid to late 20's now anon.
They saw nyaa go down before too.

Why are troons involved now?

*Unless those sites get DMCA'd too

You don't need to consolidate on another site. Have multiple backup sites and if the series you want isn't on one site, check another. That's what I do. MD hasn't been my main manga site since the hack and the long-term downtime since it got super slow. I only ever used it to download stuff for Storytimes but I never used it as my primary site for actually reading manga again.

and there's a shit ton of publishers

There's not really. Almost everything is going to fall under the umbrella of either Shueisha, Kadokawa, Kodansha, Akita Shoten, Shogakukan or Squeenix.

They aren't. It's just tourists who arrived after a certain year wanting to blame shit on their bogeymen of the month.

MSN

*wizz*

Damn I don't miss that shit

I got off easy. There are only two or three things on that list that I was following and they're a mix of things I can easily find on other sites or don't really mind forgetting about.
Taking a look at the API calls that populate the library page and at least they've made it easy to write a script to scrape that shit. Guess I ought to and probably should have a long time ago.

if the series you want isn't on one site, check another

That is the annoying part.
Not saying it is hard just inconvenient as fuck especially if you read tons of series

There's an official French translation, they started editing everything from 2022, they're on part 2.
It might almost be better to translate from there with an AI than to read Wild Fang lmao

The bigger issue is that there's a lot of old series where the scanlators aren't around so unless someone saved it those series are just flat out gone.

Uploads were consistent on MD, some teams with titles hit are talking about distributing scans through cubari links on Discord and others are just going to upload to other sites instead. It makes it so that readers have to dig around for titles. The portion of people who just pirate but at least add to spreading the word on social media and increase interest in a series won't bother for a bunch of their nuked titles. The portion of people who actually do buy manga will discover less manga, forget about the series that were nuked, leading to less sales overall. What it's definitely not doing is bringing more people into K-Manga or Bookwalkers retarded simulpub ecosystems.

I'll make the logo

oh what? For once my college French classes might come in useful, are there scans of the French volumes online? I have no idea what sites/discords to use for French translated stuff

I like the deep search system when I was looking for middle trashy isekai before sleeping

Well I guess I'm going to postpone getting started on my backlog once again...

Shueisha

Shogakukan

Which are sister companies.

there's a lot of old series where the scanlators aren't around so unless someone saved it those series are just flat out gone.

Weren't those series from Mangadex's predecessors anyway? Not really much of an issue.

Yeah but the issue is not being able to read stuff, and what happened doesn't change that.

Uploads were consistent on MD

Some of the scrapers I know upload series almost at the same time as MD, or at least with a minimal delay.

and who knows how this will affect ongoing or upcoming translations moving forward

That’s the problem.

Usually those sites also have cryptominers and all kinds of other AIDS running in the background because they're all run by greedy SEA monkeys.

They saw nyaa go down before too.

No the fuck they didn't.

Use an adblocker. Unless they're one of those sites that have the "disable adblocker to use our site!" bastards then you should be fine on PC. The problem is mobile since Chrome doesn't have an adblocker and doesn't support extensions, so using those sites on mobile is fucking cancer.

i kinda like adding series onto tachiyomi a few times a week, doing an update now and i'm seeing 1900 series being updated. Also I remove any completed series from the subscriptions.

Japanese news was reporting that publishers were collaborating to take down manga piracy sites for a while now

so unless someone saved it those series are just flat out gone.

Old enough to remember the internet before 2020, yes some site most likely scrapped everything already. Literally not an issue. There's thousands, if not then hundreds, of other alt manga sites. They all scrap from each other where most of which also scrap their sources as well.

The portion of people who just pirate but at least add to spreading the word on social media

Meh, don't care.
We need a purge anyways, these occasional purges to get rid of the tech-illiterates and normalfags is what stops things from getting too consolidated to a single site.
The real loss is the older stuff that either wasn't properly scraped or was only available on MD because they were uploaded years ago and no one running any of the other sites cared to back them up.

I did, I even used nyaa pantsu for a bit until everyone consolidated onto si.
I'm only a 2012 newfag but some zoomers have been around here longer than you think if they underaged at the time like me. I'm 26 now.

I'm talking about this as someone who actually believes that piracy is a net positive right now for the manga industry and MD was one of the only sites that had some pretense of supporting the authors. You're making points about shit that has nothing to do with whether piracy can positively impact sales and the industry. Normalfag culture is just your personal gripe with the Western manga scene.

Older series are not an issue, really. There's a 2020 dump on nyaa, and they have probably been mirrored to a lot of other places already.

It's the new+ongoing ones that are a problem. Way too many new scanlators never even tried getting their own website up and just uploaded straight to mangadex. And many of the good mirrors ("good" here meaning non-compressed, non-resized) ignored ongoing series, or waited for a large amount of new chapters to update in batches.

At the very least, I think many chapters released in 2024-2025 are at risk of not existing at all anymore, unless the scanlators still have the original files and can upload them somewhere.

Gah, at first it seemed like none of the series I read were pulled, but then I saw 'Lord El-Melloi II Case Files' was gone, bummer!

There is usually a data hoarder somewhere who has that older stuff anyway.

Some oneshots were nuked to hell too, those are gone forever from peoples mind for sure, as well the one that was just getting 2-3 chapters annually or >completed 19xx or 200x. I think I have confirmed 15 at low end currently reading and is actively translated nuked while something like 5+ completed series that I know ded.People gotta sludge though MOAR JAYPEG quality for those long completed ones even more now.

The question is if the increased interaction of western social media with the manga industry via people posting shit from mangadex is a net positive.
And the answer is most likely no, based on what I've seen.

the problem is mobile since Chrome doesn't have an adblocker and doesn't support extensions

Most of the ads can be blocked just by changing your DNS settings. You don't even need to install anything on your phone or PC

Most of the ads can be blocked just by changing your DNS settings.

Do you think someone who's too lazy to install an ad blocker is going to be able to change their DNS settings?
Or even know what DNS settings are?

Some are cool about it. Sister and Giant's author at one point was offering their scripts so people could make more accurate translations. But manga authors like that are the minority, most tow the corporate/cultural line.

Unfortunately, I have the impression that no one has bothered to share them, at least they're hard to find.
As a French person, I read the scans in English. There are many series that are not available or are several volumes behind (for example, Iruma, in the physical version we're barely on volume 28 of 42), and people don't bother scanning them.
but while searching I just saw that there will be an English version this year

aqs.png - 934x319, 25.29K

At the very least, I think many chapters released in 2024-2025 are at risk of not existing at all anymore, unless the scanlators still have the original files and can upload them somewhere.

This is my fear.
I can usually count on data hoarders and scarpers to grab old stuff, but it's less clear for newer things. Especially if new means "within the last week" or so/

Changing DNS is easy, with AdBlocker you never know if it also steals your cookies or something
It is always nice to try to make people less technologically illiterate even if it is just a tiny bit

Mangadex coming around when it did unironically almost certainly played a huge part in manga's growing popularity, especially since Covid. They are absolutely shooting themselves in the foot

I downloaded from there. It was a central hub where most groups uploaded directly. IRC is dead, everyone is in their secrit trannycord server. Things were good for a while but the enshittification is real.

You might want to grab those latest chapters of series that got nuked but somehow still have some 3 or 4 new chapters remaining, if you care about any of those series.

Changing DNS is easy, with AdBlocker you never know if it also steals your cookies or something

Anon, you horribly overestimate your average phone user these days.
They generally don't even know what a cookie is, nor do they care if someone is stealing theirs through their browser.

It's so weird, when you look at untranslated onomatopées left behind from sloppy cleaners you can clearly see that a non-negligible amount of scanlators work from a French publication base, but I almost never see French scans other than the most mainstream titles (remember CaptainNaruto lol). How come no Frenchfags are uploading French raws ? might be I'm just too retarded to find them

The way an anon explained it was

it's okay to sell to suruga-ya, book off etc., i.e. to a company

not okay to sell on mercari because it is just a platform and you're selling to a private entity

Sounds retarded? Yeah.

In our country, people buy in bulk in physical form, manga is relatively cheap if you compare it to other countries, between 7 and 8 euros on average per volume.
Add to that the government's "culture pass," which is basically a kind of 300 euro gift certificate that you get at 18, allowing you to buy books/concert tickets, etc. (they introduced it the month after I turned 19, I hate it).
for example in 2024 there were 68 million comics sold, that's as many as there are inhabitants in the country and the majority are manga, American comics don't sell very well, Franco-Belgian comics are mainly bought by old people

The one I was going to grab is already gone. Villainess Level 99 only had the most recent chapter removed, and only that chapter. Everything else is stuff I haven't even started yet or is probably safe like Machikado Mazoku. Guess I should look up how to get whole series in english instead of going image by image like a troglodyte just in case.

Is second-hand selling really looked down upon in Japan? I'd been using Tenso for years and this is the first time I've heard about it.

they introduced it the month after I turned 19, I hate it)

I feel you, my region setup cash scholarships if you got a certain grade on your final highschool exam the year after I passed mine, that would have been my rent covered for all my schooling years lol.

With all those people buying manga, you'd think more people would upload raws. Stingy frenchfags! I'm kidding ofc, I've been once to see a cousin (in the Gers region) and the people were lovely

This thread is shocking. So many people throwing their hands up instead of going "welp, let me go to another site and read." The worst part is that when it's pointed out, they just double down further. I expected better from Anon Babble. Seriously, this happening is a blow to MD but it's not an actual blow to manga reading itself. This isn't like Sadpanda nearly dying years ago since, unlike Sadpanda, actual decent MD alternatives and scrapers exist.

There is usually a data hoarder somewhere who has that older stuff anyway.

Until there isn't

Lmao I can't with these fucking people.

it's a blow to future uploads, retard

RED LIVING ON THE EDGE

This is the only one I care about. Why would they do this?

Sandpanda, now that's a real apocalypse.

I use mangapark.

OH NO!
Now I have to use one of the endless number of cloned manga pirate site that don't ban official release and don't give a fuck about DMCA notices...

At least now I get to experience the Official translations that may or may not rename things or rewrite the script. That and the all the little details fan translations had like the explainer pages for Dungeon Meshi are gone.

People buy physical books, digital book sales represent only 10% of book sales in France (and almost half of them are professional/university books)
and for Baki, it's a special case, it's a "deluxe" edition of the largest volumes, certainly containing more pages (24 volumes instead of the 42 of the first Japanese edition), but more expensive at 13 euros, so people will be less likely to cut them up to scan them properly.
for everything that is manga we have a physical culture due to the Franco-Belgian comic strip (you go to any city of a few tens of thousands of inhabitants and you will have several bookstores specialized in manga, but I mean literally, several thousand references, figurines, trading cards, model kits etc.)

some anon in the other thread pointed out that all of the fan scans are still available on EH's website

I know, but I'm specifically talking about people who go "how do I read my backlog now?" THAT is not affected by this.

I told you about hosting gookshit bro.

I'm a bit surprised they even went after korean and chinese shit as well.

I don't mind big names getting taken down, it's just expected at this point and you can find them elsewhere, it's all the weird small shit that's driving me nuts.
So much shit I'm going to have to sort through to pick out all the dead.

Also, how the fuck did Prisma Illya survive the Fate purge?

when mangadex went down five years ago some people built these like local mangadex scraper reader things where you could just browse mangadex locally. this also just automatically downloaded every chapter you were reading
i'm tech illiterate but couldnt we like, just connect / torrent to each other, like, oh this guy has or these guys have chapter 24 so we'll just pull from them. then chapter 25 these guys.
then you just need a way to slot new releases in there and we'd be bullet proof?

this is the company that filed the dmca on behalf of the publishers
comeso.org/

Gooks are the one overzealous in their enforcement actually. A lot of those aggregator sites were taken down due to gookshit webtoon. I dont think the chinese care so far.

Why has it even happened?

Kill yourself. Your site is the web version of an evacuation shelter. When the storm is over everyone goes home.

mangadex has been compromised for a long time. it needs to die already so something better comes along

I hope someone on the site at least backed it up so that the translators hard work isn't lost forever.

what ever happened to mangaloid

Can't you take a bus or something?
I dedicate at least 1 sunday per month to fuck off from society and walk around the mountains alone. I meet the occasional traveler, but I don't mind them since a single greeting and ciao.
On the other hand, I love to do things alone. Internet is fine, I treat all of you guys as if you were some well made bots.

Answer you faggots or else I'll come to you at night and rape you right in your boypussies.

Same reason it always happens, publisher decides to swing their dick around to make a point.

Why would gay retarded Jap execs want pirated copies of their works taken down.

Gee, it's the question of the century. And any other point you might make is explained by them being gay and retarded.

Lots and lots of DMCA takedowns. Just rumors as to who/why right now but I heard it's being organized by Kakao with lots of others alongside them.

Who the fuck cares about the publishers?
Wasn't mangadex a pirate website?
I haven't used it much because I just download cbz's.

And now China is doing the same thing as well. They deserve to be pushed into irrelevance

Shiori Experience gone

FUCK OFF YOU WEREN'T DOING ANYTHING WITH IT

Its not even an official request

Its one of those ambulance chaser "services"

They only threaten non-infringing or grey uploaders / hosters

2.5 second of a trailer in your youtube movie review urging everyone to see the movie? DMCA!

They never go after the truly illegal uploaders / hosters since they know its a lost cause

Their whole business model is based on being HQd out of a basement, doing it for free, and then begging the copywrite holders for Good Boy points

And people call power tripping jannies pathetic

kakao

Fucking gooks strike again.

The DMCA system is broken. It automatically assumes the accused is guilty and has nonexistent penalties for abuse (especially if you're outside the US). It's one of the most draconian pieces of legislation ever devised, almost comical.

I remember them saying they were going to be the next CR, first serving pirated content but eventually going legit

What a bunch of suckers

It's good?

I've said it before but Mangadex needs to get rid of the gooktoons and chinkhua and then sumarily ban all IPs from SEA and LatAm. The last big DMCA scare they had was from Brazillians uploading Boruto recolors to get around not being able to upload the official chapters. Ban SEA and LatAm and 99% of their problems go away.

First off, you mean "storage". Second off, motherfucker some of us aren't poor and 4 TB is around 100$.

I work a full time job and in trying to be financially responsible I am desperately sticking to hobbies of mine that cost next to nothing
believe me I'd much rather just get on a truck and fuck off to the woods to shoot but I just dont have that option nor can I afford that option

I just built a computer to use as an NAS that has 35TB of usable memory (while using a raid setup). So I won't have to delete anything for quite a while I imagine. I wouldn't have even dreamed of having this much storage when I first built a computer in the early 2010s.

Old millennial here, re: phone stuff, I've had young coworkers and friends react with confusion when I silence my phone and pocket it when we go out to eat. Freaks them out more than it freaks people out in general that I don't use a phone case.

It seems to have pretty much everything mangadex had, and you can easily download chapters using gallery-dl

park

So much for avoiding gookshit.

i lost all the motivation to read manga
all the alternative sites are pure garbage

it's 25 cents

Good, now kys instead of whining like a bitch

thanks, it looks like they do have the stuff

you will never be tough

then you two have something in common, considering you're CRYING about losing a piracy website

mangakas have 0 agency and most of them agree with takedowns. It is suuuuuper rare to find a genuinely chill author who understands the value of free information.

Funnily, Watamote authors are a pair of those, as their series was swirling in obscurity prior to piracy--and yet as we see, their series is one of the ones that got hit.

I use my phone probably more than I should but that's because I'm horribly autistic and have always, even pre-phone, been bad at conversation that's outside of my interests. Even with my interests it's hard. I can't talk about, say, manga or anime with most people I know IRL who are into it because they only watch entrylevel shit like One Piece or MHA or Attack on Titan. Nobody reads or wants to talk about (or even try out) shit like Sister and Giant or Holy Grail of Eris.

Mangadex gets hit

Shittier aggregator sites still safe (for now)

Shitty low quality websites from some scanlators are the only source for some translated series

At least I don't have to deal with that .1, .2, and .3 chapter shit outside of mangadex... right?

Mangadex got DMCA since they're basically a centralized hub for scanlators to upload their manga content.
What if someone created used decentralized cloud storage to make another manga site like mangadex would it DMCA even work, if the content isn't even all stored in one server/area?

nooo you can't feel annoyed because the manga I'm currently reading just became considerably more inconvenient to read!! You have to pretend to be nonchalant to fit in!!

Where do you think they rip their chapters from idiot? Why do you think they come in .1 .2 and .3 anyway?

They're so cucked they now show ads for Fakku when you open some of the copyrighted works.

file.png - 1232x276, 149.07K

Host in in a gray zone country that doesn't give a fuck and have it managed by someone from there too
problem solved, its that fucking easy

you might be acting ironically but in case anyone thinks this way: it's fully possible to get something for free...and then buy it afterward.

Though to be fair (and now I am definitely being sarcastic:) because piracy = lost sales, if you buy a tankoubon after pirating it, the publisher gets a net 0 sales. You need to buy things twice after pirating to actually change sales!

i dont get you two retards, the thread is full of people complaining about it just like I am, how is anything I said different from what everyone else is saying?
i swear I have a fucking retard magnet specifically made me to annoy me for no reason

.1, .2, and .3

Pay for the coins, tyrone. You wouldnt want the mangaka to starve right?

while i fully agree with you, you do realize what website and board youre on, right? Anon Babble is peak normalfaggot area, full of anime only tards that hate reading manga and not only stream content but post screenshots of hem watching it streamed.

find plenty of backup sites of various quality to weather the storm until a replacement site shows up

start migrating on Tachiyomi

downloaded chapters won't migrate properly

Well fuck me I guess.

making samples or earlier works available for free online

Thats what mangaplus, fakku, bookwalker and even crunchy does.
They have free samples
But they are samples
Not a whole volume or season
The problem is modern pirate fags demand all in exchange of nothing as if they were some sort of influencer.

If creators were smart they'd be embracing their potential impoverished (poorfag) audience

embrace poorfags

Thats how the 2008 economic crisis went off

Anon Babble is peak normalfaggot area

saying that when Anon Babble is the place that will literally grill people for using streaming sites, whether legal or illegal ones, and still insists on only using torrents

I never read manga on my phone, so tachiyomi isn't going to be a solution. Is there a desktop version or program like that out there, that gets updates and support? I see a few programs out there, but Im not sure whats reliable.

I have so many bookmarks on that site ... fuck ...

What is this? What's wrong with using nyaa or whatever

All my saved pages and bookmarks are gonna be dns useless now. Is there an alternative to mangadex outside of manga+?

hate to break it to you but the majority of Anon Babble content comes from phones these days, hence the "election tourist" or "summer-child" insult
also take your meds, retard, accept the truth already grandpa.

that will literally grill people for using streaming sites

ironic shit posting is still shit posting you dumb faggot. some do it ironically, some dont care, a LOT do it on purpose either because thats the way they watch or for riling faggots up. pretending that stream fags are minority is retarded and ignorant, especially considering how this board is full of anime only shitter.

It's not very good for ongoing series and sometimes there might not be available torrents for a manga.

because having to torrent a new chapter every time is shit

my memories of reading medaka box. it's on internet archive or something right?

its a pain in the dick to torrent every single manga chapter at a time. torrents are great for completed series archives, but shit for single chapters. Also, some really fucking old series just dont have any seeders at all.

Some are absolutely based, like Ogu, who offered the uncensored raws for her works to the scanies. There's also the Nick & Lever author who was so chill he even got the scanlator to help him release his manga officially in English.

I hear you. I'm not divergent but my interests and hobbies have always been pretty nerdy and niche and solitary so at best I'm a normie whisperer. I can hold a conversation with anybody about anything, but living alone through the covid years I found out that I don't actually get lonely anymore so I lost most of my patience for politely feigning interest in things.

They could literally just ignore the DMCA.

Thank god the taters are still there

shimejiPet.png - 267x265, 60.12K

Roundabout franskenstein way and still need to use mobile apps if youre planning to import your current list into the desktop app. You have to start from scratch adding those titles, I think suwayomi server/gui is the one actively being work on.I'm in the same situation too, my reading list on md is around 4k in various reading state.

I think I'm still in denial about the purge, I can't wrap my head around all this shit just being gone and scattered to the winds.

because if you have one site that just werks why would you need more you fucking mong

As I understand it, Japanese IP law is fucked like ours, just in a different way. BUT if you're not making too much money AND you're in Japan, you're allowed to create derivative works and sell some knockoff merch. This isn't an official exception, it's just an unwritten rule, but because of this grace, many Japanese hobbyists are very nice to companies like Nintendo and Publishers in general, assuming whoever they're going after got too greedy.
It's also probably a factor of being a more collectivist society that values social harmony. Intellectual Property is an inherently complex and unsolved issue which might cause conflict if discussed openly, so better to not think about it as much and go along with whatever the rights holder says.

Of course, I'm painting with a broad brush here, just bear in mind Japenese fans get to make a small amount of money on big properties and social harmony is considered virtuous.

trying to become fakku

ignore DMCA

not licking the boot

lol

Kinnikuman is gone

Kinnikuman Nisei is still there, ALL OF IT

Hail to the prince!

file.png - 453x567, 368.63K

they can barely afford the servers imagine paying for lawyers

site has only translated manga no raws

Who cares?

Precisely because of shit like this you stupid fuck, retards like you are worse than bots, you should be gelded.

I know how to find shit wherever you want dumbfuck, I'm 30 I've been on the net as long as you had to beg for cum from fan translators on backwaters forums.

Less gone, more scattered. If you look you can find it.

Raw sites suck. They never have anything I'm looking for.

showing up to court

reading your mail

using your real address for anything

Cringe. The courts have proven again and again they are illegitimate in the west. The fact some foreigner can bitch about a series that is no longer being supported in their own nation, much less here, being pirated is proof of corruption.

30 but as retarded as the average zoomer
curious that

I feel you. Been looking for raws for one series for a while.

When are the admins going to stop being quiet faggots and actually address and talk about what happened?

You really settle for translations when you can't find something?

We really just have to know to start preparing a place to migrate to after the current "big one" starts to get too big. A litmus test for what is too big can be maybe when noormalfags on Twitter start to post about it or something.

ahahahahah never

No, but that doesn't mean that criticizing MD for not having raws isn't a stupid thing to do when sites that host raws are even worse in terms of selection than MD is. If you want to read raws (depending on what specific series) it's not uncommon to have to buy them. It's especially frustrating when the people who upload raws for download give you the shittiest quality watermarked bullshit imaginable.

isn't mangadex the place were most scanlators hosted stuffs? shouldn't this also affect aggregators?

They are scared of legal repercussions, so much so that they refused to even say what and how many series were affected.

they'll just find the next place that everyone uploads to, just like always. and then that place will get taken down, repeat.

funny thing is that I'm joining some scanlator groups on discord and then I'm seeing a few of them dropping the series that got purged from mangadex
the guys who are doing bocchikano said they were dropping because of mangadex, and that they have an official release

SINCE WHEN DO SCANLATORS CARE ABOUT OFFICIAL RELEASE? THEY'RE 2 YEARS BEHIND. Do they not know how long 2 years is? What is this bullshit, moral piracy? Because there's is no fucking way they're afraid of being hit with a lawsuit too

the actual thing to be upset about / concerned about right now is that going forward it's going to be very tricky to say way to get things. like we all know how to use google we all know there's alternatives, but like tsugumi just got picked up again, and like now that it's copyright struck, where's the small team of two guys gonna publish it. it's not gonna be directly to one of the aggregates

If there was some place with all the manga in nihon I'd have learnt dekinai by now.

god imagine the future of like get this translated manga from the scanlators on their discord, and then you have to be in like 20 different discord servers

honestly fuck official translations taking multiple fucking years to catch up.

Scalation groups are too lazy to put their shit up

Yes, you have two kinds of retards, first the ones who are too dumb to use google and find all the chapters that were scrapped off MD; on the other hand you have the imbeciles thinking that because they know of one or two agregators everything will be fine while disregarding that MD was THE hub for translators and scanies and was the source of most of the translated non-porn manga on the internet.

Like how you have to subscribe to 20 different streaming sites to watch everything.
Isn't signing up for nyaa to upload closed right now and has been for a while?

The way DMCA hawks, copyright/domain squatters, etc. work is by counting on you not having the money to pay for legal fees and if they do lose nothing happens. Look up the Zorro rights and company that "owns" them for example. You're not just dealing with jews but Super Saiyajews.

SINCE WHEN DO SCANLATORS CARE ABOUT OFFICIAL RELEASE

...Pretty often? What an odd questiion.

i was bummed out because i was reading sensou kyoushitsu in mangadex then suddenly it got nuked
then i googled another site and turns out to be one that loads the whole volume at once rather than individual chapters, has a way comfier reader, loads images quicker and i can honestly say good fucking riddance

2008

Fuck off with your bait

Its a hobby or they have to make some money out of it, cant really fault if they just gave up. If the series is good enough, maybe others will pick it up.

Mangadex was nice because it was the only manga piract site, raws or scans, not run by grifting SEAs.

nigga they never cared until mangadex started banning serialized chapters
They usually said "go support the official releases" but still caught up to the latest chapters. I've never seen a scanlator group that refuses to pick up based solely on nothing but their stupid moral compass (like they're weren't pirating it before)

Get ready for another bummer, its getting axed.

What site?
Does it have both TLs or just the MTL?

not run by grifting SEAs.

Instead it is run by grifting faggots that play pretend at becoming legit while supporting SEAs on mass.

They use Mangadex to advertise their discords/pay sites and grow their e-peens. Hard to advertise yourself when your main outlet is fucked.

Citation needed.

you're lucky if you have *any* confirmed official translation, they nuked noblemtl the other day even though 99% of the shit that gets machine translated in the first place does not have any other english alternative
my biggest fear right now is them fucking up that group that does good quality translations of gook WNs like omniscient first person's viewpoint because if they nuke it there's no way in hell we'll ever get a translation, official or not

Can't figure out how to export this but I bet it'll feel really refreshing to stop refreshing the update page and actually read my backlogs.

Those homos were westerners, didn't compress or watermark images and had a functional and ad free site. Every hobby and internet space has gotten worse as it's become filled by Nguyens, Changs, Iqbals, Joaos, Juans and Rakeshes.

SINCE WHEN DO SCANLATORS CARE ABOUT OFFICIAL RELEASE?

For the exact same reason why the current video game modding scene is a pile of shit. Greed and internet fame. Fans used to make shit like this out of pure passion and love for a thing, to grow or improve their hobby further, while today it's at least partly a huge fucking grift.

PROTECT ARTISTS GUISE! PROTECT OUR IP, PROTECT OUR COPYRI-AAAAACCCCCCKKKKKK!

"Miss us yet?"

that refuses to pick up based solely on nothing but their stupid moral compass

something something scanlator that stopped scanlating a kemono manga for random out of no where moral reasons
in other words their twitter/discord fanbase noticed a certain thing in the manga and started insulting them for it so they stopped scanlating it shortly after to avoid drama

I don't know who either of those are, Anon Babble tourist.

It took me a second to realize it was everyday heroes and not e-hentai or some other obscure mirror

SINCE WHEN DO SCANLATORS CARE ABOUT OFFICIAL RELEASE?

you been sleeping under a rock for the last 10 years or so? nowadays all those fuckers charge people one way or another (either through some discord membership, patreon donation, paywalling latest chapters, outright just asking for donations or just spamming your browser with ads)
Gone are the days where a random chink student would bring out scanlations to the masses with no strings attached just because he felt like doing it as an english class project, they got too greedy and scanlations into a business so of course the suits are gonna get pissy they're not getting their share

using domain hosts that cater to DMCA requests

Dont feel that bad about my sitewide permabann there anymore. Its never been that hard to read manga online I just liked the update feed of md

oh no.. ive been meaning to start reading it, it only sat for 3 years on my catalog

There's probably a script out there to pull everything but I didn't look. It looks like it gives you all the library title statuses at once on Library page load, and you can take the IDs from the status call to fetch the details for the individual titles 100 at a time. It's lazily written and half of the work is manual, but if you're interested I wrote some console bullshit that lets you take the statuses and have it shit out the API URLs that you can just copy and paste into tabs to fetch the data and download it. Obviously doesn't concatenate it all or collate it with the statuses or anything, but it's a quick and dirty backup in case the site gets into hot water.

what's stopping a big company from buying it and turning the mangadex IP into a centralized hub for the latest releases just like sony did with Crunchyroll

Should I also start archiving my sadpanda favorites/authors?
You can read.rar files in Honeyview

None, but the sales in japland is bad apparently. With the scanlation being taken out as well, doubt there are overseas people still want to support by buying the jap volumes en masse. It is still axed with or without newer scans though most likely.

Not because of this, but you always should be anyway.

Host in in a gray zone country

Like what

I'm actually glad GATE and that Gyaru maid isekai manga are not part of the purge

Gone are the days where a random chink student would bring out scanlations to the masses with no strings attached

There still exist a bunch of them out there doing it sincerely.

With the scanlation being taken out as well

Citation needed.

i have like 5k favorites in nhentai but you know what? i don't care if they are deleted
the good stuff i will eventually remember and find again when i feel like jerking off to it specifically
same with any manga really, that's why i don't keep any currently reading manga list or anything, if it gets deleted from a site and i forget about it and don't pick it up again means it was forgettable all along

huh you have a point actually, isnt there a huge russian torrenting website that exists for years and basically everyone uses it? whats stopping people from making a mangadex but with russian servers

use peer 2 peer

Nigger, its one of the dmca'd title, english title is The Bugle Call.

he doesn't know about Bugle Call's immunity

it's literally the only ongoing manga i follow

xxxxx.jpg - 1200x1119, 263.83K

plenty of illigal sites that existed since forever by being hosted in some dark country that no one has any power over
its all down to the main peoples retardation and fear

This
Yet EVERYONE does it
What I dont get is why

Have not read manga in like 2 years bceause everything was mostly monthly releases and was hard to keep up

decided to get back and catch up with a nice backlog

this happens

FUCK
worst part is that I used to download and archive a lot of anime (fatre thye got their BD release) and manga (and still have my old 2tb external) buts topped doing that some years ago, I probably should start doing that again,

now that I think about it, most of the well known isekai manga on Mangadex are actually survive the purge for some reason...

didnt it win one of those kono manga wa sugoi thingies recently? i think it would be fine

No shit. Mangadex going down doesn't mean the scanlation's stopping, you dense motherfucker.

I tried a fantranslated YGO title here and still works in my Mihon extension.

great, bato.to 2.0

IS SASHA-CHAN STILL THERE????
I'M AT WORK I CAN'T CHECK!
DEAR GOD TELL ME IT IS!

Maybe they just wanted to free some space
Or
One of their hdds died on them and they are blaming the dmca

Popular Updates

jesus christ

It's a shame it's as rare as it is. When I TL stuff I do it on here because I specifically want to do it anonymously for the love of the game. Funny enough one of the things I most wanted to work on since scans were years behind got completely nuked.

Should I also start archiving my sadpanda favorites/authors?

You should have started saving your porn years ago. Porn is in a more precarious situation than regular manga. I'm currently on 4.4TB of saved pron, and my archive is still growing.

Better to figure out how covert to a CBR or CBZ file

You change the file ending?

So. Is Madokami well maintained at least?

Is Madokami well maintained at least?

HAHAHA.

i think that, overall, it's a reaction to how the landscape for manga and whatnot is changing. we've seen publisher after publisher release their gay freemium apps, Sony/Crunchyroll seems to be eating up everything in sight, and manga becoming more palatable to normies.

Lets hope so.

One group has a discord but no actual site, both got them linked to mangadex page as their group website in MU, but yeah, aggregator sites will just get slower update if anything. Its just a pain to go find another site thats all.

Another DMCA-geddon was just inevitable but they survived the last three times it happened. I was already mostly using the site for new and promising titles or just as a comprehensive database for manga, manhwa and manhua. There are aggregate sites that are superior for actually reading because they don't give a shit about upload delay and they pull from groups that refused to upload to mangadex anyway

Yes

It's safe.

thanks for deleting Futanari no Elf, you fucking gay retards

they deleted the fat propaganda

BASED

reads a manga about female elves with cocks

calls others gay

I think that one is the mainly horse cock size futashit elves.Still fat though.

THATS THE JOKE YOU FAGGOT

Any other site that actually has chapter list per tankoubons and offers tank covers?

Mangadex was never my main hub since their previous fuckup, but the fact that they had a page for covers for each tank and typically organized which chapters fell under a specific tankoubon helped a lot for my personalized collection and autistic organizing ass.

None nearly as comprehensive as mangadex unfortunately

More like a coin flip if anything you like ends up there

goddess hasn't opened registration in forever
I forgot that shit existed

damn im gonna miss how clean MD's frontpage is

Bookwalker

Read the first free/preview chapter per tank

It has the table of contents that lists the chapters

You're a fucking genius anon.

Bookwalker doesn't have all the titles I'm looking for. But some is better than none. Thanks anon.

kek I had the same thought process even though I never really go on e-hentai

Absolutely nobody mentioned Pumpkin Scissors getting nuked despite it recently coming back from a 4 year hiatus

I really am the only person who gives a shit about this series aren't I?

It's been four years brother, you're the last one to even remember it.

huh? The mangadex page only has a few chapters left. If I misunderstood and you're talking about sales, I too want to believe in Bugle Call's immunity.

It's been four years

That's like if I was about to cry about a manga I'm currently reading that was removed, even tho the last chapter of that came out in 2019. Thankfully I have all the chapters loaded.

I see it mentioned on here all the time haven't read it yet though

russia is bad for hosting stuff last I checked

Thankfully, a lot of the series I'm following are ran by oldfag scanlator groups that has their own personal blogspot site where they post their releases and host them on multiple mirrors/file hosters.

I imagine this is nearly apocalyptic for newfag generation groups that only ever posted stuff on mangadex itself or has to rely on some fucking discord group though.

has their own personal blogspot site where they post their releases and host them on multiple mirrors/file hosters.

This should be fucking standard behaviour for any group worth their salt. It's not like it requires a high amount of effort or tech proficiency to do.

- Pick any free site (blogspot/wordpress/etc)
- Pick any easy filehost (mediafire/mega/etc)

Then use the site and post shit on it like every other week or so. It's even more low commitment if you're handling a monthly series. It's not fucking rocket science holy shit.

can confirm, the problem with russia is that while they don't care about american copyright laws, they do have a lot of censorship so chinese cartoons tend to be treated as heretic shit that turns children gay etc

chinese cartoons tend to be treated as heretic shit that turns children gay

holy based

they do have a lot of censorship

then how come an absolute banger of a 3DPD porn tracker I once found is russian based?

They could also just upload to Nyaa at least

just the fact that virtually none of the other websites I've found so far have an easy one-click hub with useful links like this is enough to make me grief

file.png - 417x215, 18.08K

Because they are only doing it for money and know that the vast majority of their user are retards that would never ever use any of those links.

The fan translation has been dead for like 8 years, you already had to go outside of dex to read it so this makes no difference.

Saw murata's version and assumed it was all the same I guess

I think open registrations are gone for good? Pretty sure they only have the gacha now.

Can't upload to nyaa without an account verification that they don't give out any more, only way is to get in contact with someone who's verified and get him to upload shit for you.

oh wow didnt knew that

OPM Webcomic is gone

Huh? Isn't it free?

Nintendo's BS change of terms

Sony trying to cockblock physical since they own BD patents

This

they are activelly trying to also ban mods outside Japan

You get sued if you dare complain about a company in any way or just never get hired anymore

the fuck is going on over there

Bookwalker doesn't have all the titles I'm looking for.

You'll need a Japanese IP if you want to browse BL.

Site actually bothers to mirror the most up to date versions of the scans instead of just fucking off when scraping it once

Already better than most sites

End of an era if they manage to take down more sites

Free as in beer.

>Arakure Ojousama wa Monmon Shiteiru

Nooo

Mangakalot

Someone posted on mangadex's forums that they listed they're real names on the billing address.

Stopped following new releases on mangaupdates years ago when translations for chinese and korean stuff started taking over the page. Does making an account there let you filter stuff out?

At least post a link.

What the fug.Please be troll.

s.png - 554x299, 72.68K

This isn't true at all. You can't 'surrender' your IP rights by having bad lawyers or not defending them. That's like saying you can surrender your house if people break in but you don't call the cops often enough.

That's probably just assuming they have patreon and stuff.

Well Goddess was a thing before the head guy abandoned it

That's like saying you can surrender your house if people break in but you don't call the cops often enough.

Actually yes. look up squatter's rights. people have lost their house for that horseshit.

That's not the same and usually it involves renters, not breaking and entering.

Who even reads manga?

Nope it's real, I'm on the upload page right now.
They want to push the blame to the individual scanlators now, "if we get caught the content was on you not us."

itsover.png - 826x142, 19.04K

a place that's supposed to have some semblance of tech literacy,

perhaps but most posters these days are phone posters who cannot into technology if it isn't an app. I remember doing all sorts of dumb shenanigans with little lines of code that would send out network-wide messages at school saying 'Mr X is gay', and I wondered what the next gen would get up to. They get up to nothing, they're hypnotised by phones and have the attention span of ants.

its not about defending IP rights, its about Japanese lawyers needing quotas or some shit and "pprotecting the image of the company/IP" there's a reason you need to basically make a contract and follow guidelines stablished by the Ip holder to even stream or talk about [brand] of you are making on yen out of it

Kinda funny but I think its an ok way to be honest, let the niggerkike lawyers handle series by series, scanlators by scanlators.A new fucking group every singlechapter, fun for the whole manga community.

there are cases about people who have broken into a property, were living int the house, and then won a legal battle because they were not forced out soon enough. that shit has happened.

Just hope the scanlators took opsec seriously but I kinda doubt it unfortunately.Might be too much for the casual group.

I don't know if that's retarded, but I don't think the site will be "alive" anymore.

I'll happily have my chapters nuked now than be involved in a giant all encompassing lawsuit.
Good riddance.

This. It'll continue on for a bit, but this is going to be the first DMCA wave of several and by the end little will be left.

It’s not about money, it’s about sending a message (and law and regulations)

What exactly is Kakao?

true and sad. If you give an inch they take a mile

I heard Anon Babble is being backed by GoodSmile, so as retarded as publishers are, they won’t pick a fight with them, at least not without proper preparation

Anon Babble's actual protection comes from the fact every thread 404's in the end. There's nothing to DMCA by the time lawyers get wind of it.
The archives, however...

Seems like the message is we don't want free advertising anymore.

Gookshit company.

I'm a hoarder and it may be time for me to shine by uploading some of the nuked stuff I ripped, but I'm too retarded to do remember how to upload on Madokami.. How do we upload stuff on this site again?

kakao

Honestly, can we just permanently ban korean cancer threads from Anon Babble please?

as long as the mangadex pages are up idgaf, i'll just download the chapters or read them on some C-tier manga site

If you read the leaks from /j/ they actually had concerns about copyrighted material being posted on Anon Babble and Anon Babble. But it was more about rapidshares than storytimes.

4TB is not $100. Generally you should be aiming for $10/TB.

Same, but it's a pain to turn my nas on/off all the time. 50c/kwh I hate California.

what even is copyright materials, if Anon Babble would fall under their retarded Japanese laws we wouldn't even be able to discuss airing, or recent years aired anime because spoilers, which mean jailtime

Pay artists

Bet your ass that any replacement of Mangadex would not even bother with the buying links like this. Fucking retarded nips.

Pay artists

You first, goyim, how about you let them see their families?

Mangadex thought it could be the 'good guy' and direct people to official vendors, but nobody cares about 'good guy' pirate sites and after this I hope nobody tries to play ball again.

The spoiler stuff was about leaks getting posted before the official release date. It doesn't really affect Anon Babble discussing manga or anime afterwards.

early 2000's

Buddy nevermind anime and manga. They were on top of the fucking world in the 1980's, threatening to overtake the US in GDP and fucking blew it.

Japan gets destroyed by a housing bubble in the 90's

US gets destroyed by a housing bubble in 2008 that everyone saw coming but nobody did anything to stop
