Toei Animation will make much heavier use of AI in its productions

Toei Animation will make much heavier use of AI in its productions. For example:

- in storyboard creation

- in coloring

- in automatic correction of genga or in-between creation

- in background creation directly from a photo

Give me a real reason on why IA is bad besides artist crying, niggas tech advance, IA it's the natural progress of digital art.

Generative AI has its uses and when used right it can be a very powerful and useful tool. However, right now it's imperfect and prone to abuse. Generative AI art is also still full of mistakes, while generative text is prone to hallucination. I use ChatGPT daily both for fun and for work and I know what I'm talking about.

It's like mo-cap. Use It well and only for a few precise things and you get Gollum. Use It badly and a lot you get Mars needs moms.

you think shonen sloppers would notice AI flaws in fast frames? as long as its filled with effects literally nobody would notice

I was speaking in general. Now you're moving the goalposts because you were told about the issues with generative AI? I'm not even against it, heck I use it myself. All I'm saying is that it has flaws and it being used is not always a good thing.

Based

They still can't make good use of 3dcgi, what makes you think AI will be different?

The main problem is that AI looks impressive at first, but the more you use it, the more you know its downsides. In the end, humans will try to use AI productively. For retards it will be great, because the AI produces better results than they ever could. Anyone who's slightly more competent will be forced to use, but spend most times correcting AI mistakes. AI is the victory of mediocrity, and the victory of bigtech, which control AI.

Based Toei. Hopefully DBS2 uses a lot of AI so that it can actually look good.

retard

oh no no no no
pisshitters
precurebabies

our response?

do they even make anything other than shonenshit? who cares

Cool! On an unrelated note, If you had a Death Note what would you do to clean up the various industries related to Anon Babble media?

Same reason why 3dcg bad; it looks like shit

Why I should I waste my precious time watching something when its creators didn't put any time into it?

Sony's self-developed AI software has not yet been officially put into use, but Toei Animation's self-developed AI software has been in use for a year.

Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini, however, said that producing anime has become more expensive in the last few years, with costs ballooning 40-60% due to growing budgets in Japan and a limited number of animators in the anime industry. The irony is that despite the fact that production costs are growing, Japanese animation workers regularly report that they are overworked, underpaid, and regularly face harassment in their jobs.

Sony is taking a multi-pronged approach to its anime growth strategy by looking to co-produce more shows, train more animators, and use technology to create more content.

“Given the constraints within the ecosystem, there is opportunity for various companies, including Sony, to see if there is a way to add additional capacity, bring additional talent and potentially leverage digital technology in the creation process,” Purini told FT.

Among the digital technologies the company is looking at to increase its animation output is artificial intelligence. The company’s chief executive Kenichiro Yoshida told FT, “It’s not going to be easy to balance . . . and it will be a continuous search for how we can use technology while protecting the rights of the creators.”

Sony revealed back in May that it is currently developing a new animation production software called AnimeCanvas through production studios A-1 Pictures and CloverWorks, which are part of its subsidiary Aniplex. It is not clear what the software actually does, but Sony said that the software was dedicated to “improving the production environment, efficiency, and enhancing the quality of output.”

The company is also considering launching an “academy” through Aniplex and Crunchyroll that would nurture anime creators in the global market, though it has not yet officially launched such a program.

No AIslop for us.

but Toei Animation's self-developed AI software has been in use for a year.

Arumasissies....we cheated...

The indie scene is looking ever so lively

support authors and animators you dirty gaijin! buy official products and BD!

all authors and animators are AI

PirateGODs officially won LMAO

Finally more impact frame sakugaslop but animators don't have to draw it out!

Lost of opportunity for new animators
Most animators you see doing those sakuga shots on the internet are the cream of the crop. The entry level for anime is actually inbetweening and coloring, most new animators start there and work their way up to keyframe and other workflow positions. Using AI is essentially cutting opportunities and reducing jobs.

animator shortage

The fuckers didn't give the animators a pay increase. Boomer CEO Took all that money for themselves and fuck the anime industry.

Boomer CEO Took all that money for themselves

Japan isn't Ameriburgerland, their CEOs don't take a shitload of money.

using ai for storyboarding

what the fuck?
that's like having the chinese build your foundation

soulless
I hope the AI team goes to dragonball

out of nowhere

It'll go to Wanpiss and done

the doremi reboot is finished....

BASED

Only good thing about this is that they are at least admitting it now. I noticed around last summer it was obvious most studios had to be using AI in some capacity, since the baseline for quality in anime all seemed to have a dramatic increase and I don't think investors were just giving studios more money.

Indians

There is not, the only argument against AI in existence is "NOOOOO MY MONEYYYYY" which is not a good argument.

b-but it looks like shit

Then there's no problem? If it looks like shit people won't like it and studios will 100% prefer to use anything else.

since the baseline for quality in anime all seemed to have a dramatic increase

heh

But they still use CGI.

It's over. In the next few years, ordinary people will create their own anime with just prompts. youtube.com/watch?v=8ef6dSvKMLQ

in storyboard creation

how does that work??

3D CGI is AMAZING when they use it as a supplement to aid the animation. Ranking of Kings is a good example. It used rotoscoped 3D for a lot of more complex action scenes and it looked great.

Toei's outline sounds like they're using AI similarly, to enhance the production process rather than to just hit the "generate" button and make an anime. The background enhancement is the only thing I'm worried about, but they've been tracing photos forever, so whatever.

It's hard to see from the tiny image, but it looks like they're drawing a VERY rough placement image and telling the AI to make something more advanced out of it. For example, if you're drawing the characters at a table, you can just draw a bunch of circles in the right positions and go "turn this into our cast sitting at a table in a diner". Pretty useful for a storyboard, since they only exist to give the showrunners a good idea what the final product will look like.

dragon ball is literal slop now

Well, time to switch to another hobby permanently. Modern anime nothing but irredeemable trash anyway. Have fun eating shit apologists

If they generated for free why should I waste money on it?

They paid a lot of money to soulless bigcorps like microsoft and nvidia. If you don't pay for AI slop, you LITERALLY stole from them.

And yet CGI doesn't get 0.01% as much hate as AI.

stealing from the thieves who stole the training material

A negative times a negative is a positive.

Fucking storyboards, even? Really?

the only argument against AI in existence is "NOOOOO MY MONEYYYYY" which is not a good argument.

If the publishers will use the potential cost saving as an reason to use AI then creators are allowed to use loss of revenue as an argument against it.

Toei has been slop since years ago.

60FPS fags won
