Each being different anime, you'd have to specify which one you want to talk about, since one articulation wouldn't work for the others. They have cool artstyle, lots of SOVL/atmosphere to make you feel good, decent characterisation and a cool mysterious story. Not hard to understand.

One subplot at the end of Haibane is about Reki's apparent suicide in her previous life, but if that's all you gleaned then you weren't paying attention. The theme of forgiveness or soul searching are prevalent throughout, I don't see how this one event turned you away. Also to call reckoning with suicide and the weight of that sin "teen drama" is childish.
