What is the true cost of being a hero?
To Be Hero X
Lost the girl
likely lost his identity when the merge happened
Nothing more than Rock's pawn
Here lies Yang Cheng. He doesn't exist anymore.
I knew Uncle was behind everything but holy shit he didn't have to bury the two goons alive in concrete what the fuck
Is he stupid?
Yeah I want that guy killed immediately
That very audible snap.
I think that is twice now there has been a very loud snap before transitioning to 2D. I believe at this point in the timeline X wasn't even top of the rankings and that wasn't until 3 years later.
I didn't see it coming at all.
THIS MOTHERFUCKER!!!!!!!!
Fuck, this was airing too. Actually the only series where I avoid reading any post before watching the new episode. The potential spoilers are too big.
Couldn't live up to his ideal in ep 5, couldn't let go of his jealousy, hesitated which caused the death of his friend, and now is nothing more than a pawn
I expected him to contrast Lin Ling and I wasn't disappointed
I guess now we have a guess on who probably ordered Moon to be killed.
Bro the advertisers?
E-SOUL GET DOWN don't let the advertisers see this
BASED! KILL THE ADS NOW!
I think the part that identifies this as a Chinese production is when Shang Chao's father said "Fuck this, I want vengeance, I'll make those who killed my son pay" basically.
I fucked up, sorry
Anyway, Do you think Yang Chang is happy with what he got now that he's fully E-Soul or he is regretting it every second since?
watching china slop
no thanks
I think if we ever get insight into what is going on in his head it will be nothing but regret. The thing is we have no idea how his thoughts even work or if he's just a pawn of Rock. The whole reason Rock did what he did was to make Yang into the new E-Soul and now that Yang is just E-Soul Rock has an E-Soul that is completely indebted to him.
We also know Rock will play a long game considering what he did with Yang so who knows what he is trying to pull off with Lin Ling by likely ordering Moon to be killed.
Why didn't OG E-Soul ever say anything? How long has Uncle rock been grooming Yang Cheng?
His mind is consumed by heroism and revenge, it's over for him
He's 100% full of regret. This whole episode is him just trying to dethrone OG E-Soul for no reason at all except schizo theories.
How long has Uncle rock been grooming Yang Cheng?
We know Yang Cheng has been working at the bubble tea shop, playing the E-soul actor role, for 3 years before his arc starts.
Yang Chao learnt an important lesson. It's better to be someone than no-one.
It's an obvious thing that people called, but I do like how they did show Yang did hesitate in saving Shang because of Yang's jealously towards Shang which ended up getting Shang killed since it does answer the question "Why didn't Yang just use his speed?"
I feel this arc really did need another episode. It's not bad, but it's kind of rushed.
Enlightener once again being based and actually trying to solve crimes instead of doing fake PR stunts. Fuck Lin Ling.
To become Darth Vader
naaaah they got me
i really though he was a bro
Same, and fuck anybody who says it was obvious. It wasn't.
I think Rock main objective is use E-Seul or LingLing to become the next Zero incident with their Trust values twisted with Fear.
deliberately hesitated running to his friend out of jealousy
Damn...
i lost any sympathy i had for him at that moment
Yeah, anime normally has one of the younger family members (sibling/child) take the revenge-pill, even then not right at the funeral.
He deserves nothing but bad things at this point.
So it seems Rock is a motherfucker and used New-Soul to kill Moon for whatever reason. New-Soul was also using that electricity shot in the fight.
Does Yang realise he just killed the guy who saved him from his parents' killers?
Yeah, but he also thinks he killed the guy who got his friend killed.
Yang didn't care anymore. He thought E-Soul was the one who called the hit and Yang ended up being completely twisted by Rock.
I was looking for old concept arts and found this, seems like Lin Ling's hero suit that we see in his character bio was during a mid transformation and the fully transformed suit is closer to Nice's form
I can sort of understand Yang's position
After being a nobody for most of his life and getting to be somebody, no wonder he wouldn't want to lose that. He let fame and power get to his head instead of enjoying the little things he had (girl always liked him). She was noticing too that he was losing himself but it was too late, people's perception of him being the rightful hero e-soul probably started to twist him inside too
Fuck you're right I forgot about that
He really went off the deep end fast
youtube.com
Now makes sense
are we sure the new e soul is yang? his breathing sound like the old one and lost his arm
And they certainly didn't waste aizen VA
Next week is Lucky Cian Arc
Were so hopeful for him in ep 5 with the 2 E-Souls thing, but he turned out to be real jerk and possible peace of shit. There is absolutely 0% E-Soul will win the ranking now or even reach top 10. Hope that Commoner wins in the end
So is this what actually happened in that moment?
Yang's got the sword arm out like he did at that moment there, but in this bit we see Old E-Soul grab it and hold him off at the last second.
Fuck, man. The ambiguity on which E-Soul lived there is such a good bit. There's plenty of evidence for both ends.
So is season 2 gonna be the tournament?
Yes
Yang may have gotten breathing problems because he possibly still got burnt to shit by E-Soul's lighting. It's also possible since their trust values merged that Yang then got to inherit whatever burdens E-soul had placed on himself due to his trust value.
I feel like the fact that it seems like E-Soul is Rock's pawn due to what happened to Moon that it's probably Yang.
Dunno about that. Why would Rock want to destroy the city? That being said, I hope E-Soul becomes Lin's nemesis. They are very similar, almost two sides of same coin
So there's no doubt now that Mighty Glory is 100% the "Evil" agency. Like, holy shit their boss is actually a psychopath. And the other two heroes under them we'll be focusing on are one engineered to be a weapon and one that fantasizes about becoming the next hero anti-Christ Zero.
Treeman seemed more neutral overall. They had some good stuff, but also did some dirty plays. More of a "ends justify the means" type operation.
Wonder if we'll get a vibe for DoS with Cyan next arc. Poor FOMO only gets 3 episodes out of the entire series. Less than Treeman despite having more heroes.
Yang Chang let himself be completely devoured by revenge at the end and seemingly gave up his love. Lin Ling told the world that the moment he truly felt like a hero was the moment he found someone that he was willing to put his life on the line for. Lin Ling yelling that shit out to the world was probably a huge mistake because that let Rock find out his weak point.
And which one is X agency? He has one instead being a salaryman right?
X has no agency.
Why are all of Cyan's songs shitty english
Interesting
Maybe he has all of the power of when he was Nice when he's fully transformed + whatever he has as the Commoner
He works solo
The reason X is so peak is because he's become the top hero without any Agency helping him. Somehow he gained all that Trust on his own, apparently all while retaining his secret identity as a salaryman.
How did he won the tournament? I saw that Lucky Cian since is 3rd and Linling 5th.
He trust values is mystery but a least is for the best. Him top 1 instead the others who are hungry of power or become pawns.
This trusts and fears values need to disappear.
I'm talking about X of course.:
Cute
3D style is possibly dead starting next week
I'm going to miss it. Hopefully it returns at some point.
My personal guess is that trust values and their drawbacks don't apply to X. X is the only true super hero in the world where his powers are entirely his own. That is why he can still just be salary man because the beliefs of his fans have no effect on him.
I honestly wonder if we're going to get more hero stories crossing paths and interacting purely from the switch.
The previews seemed to have Lucky Cyan, Loli and the Johnnies interacting in a lot of the shots whereas Nice and E-Soul had no interactions outside the very end of Episode 4.
E-Soul's rankings in the popularity poll are totally fucked after this episode.
No way the majority of people will be voting for a fucking puppet that let his friend die and ran away from the love of his life.
The director stated were going to see heroes start to cross paths more often. I think it was just due to Lin Ling's arc doubling as a introduction and Yang Chang being sort of a prologue made it difficult to do cross-overs.
I really don't see how anyone is going to beat X and Lin Ling as the top of the polls, but that is probably intentional because I feel like it will come down to Lin Ling Vs X at the end.
is this poll china only? where is it if not?
Personally, looking at his PV, ( the shorter one with his salaryman persona) it seems that his mysterious origin allows him to become almost supernatural in the eyes of the public. And said mysterious origin allows for conspiracy theories that continue to spin into absurdity. Meanwhile, said absurdity fuels his own absurd powers that can bend space and time. I think that's where his specific trust value's powers(?) come from. Less is more. Or rather, less personal info is more power.
It's worldwide but you need a bilibili account
Wonder if that'll be the case for the other people working for Mighty Glory. Seems that dragon boy is one of the show's artist's favourites so who knows.
Previous heroes that were previously X in the OP minus current X
so he just casually walks next to him in that mastermindy look? What is he going to say when Yang asked why is shopkeeper in this tower for heroes looking like that and acting so different? Or am I suppose to believe he wouldn't be recognized just by letting his hair down and wearing nice clothes?
Such a brilliant episode. Let this be a lesson to everyone. He chose fear over trust, hate over love. Your only protection against schemers like the restaurant owner is to love everything in creation unconditionally. If you never succumb to fear, you will never play into their hands.
Loli, Johnny, and Ghostblade arcs seem to be connected judging from PVs.
maybe someone like that guy with the memory loss fists reprogrammed him
I think Yang would have nothing but gratitude towards Rock and likely believes that the guy just wants the best for him, even with the reveal that he was lying about who he was. That was probably part of Rock's entire plan when he was essentially grooming Yang for years.
Man i wish we got a little more characterization for old e soul i really wanted to know if he had a hunch about who yang was or about any regrets he had
Zero, the guy at the bottom, wasn't an X. E-Soul defeating Zero allowed him to become the first X
Man i wish we got a little more characterization for old e soul
I honestly wished we got to learn more about him as well. His lore seems so much more interesting and he seems like he does want to be a hero compared to Yang Cheng. Literally praying he was the one that came out with the win. I refuse to believe someone who beat Zero would lose because of one weakness
Johnny's dad, current X, and E-Soul were X. Zero may as well be X considering he's in the same sequence briefly and E-Soul defeating previous X (Zero) that's out of control to later on become X makes more sense
What do you mean previously X there's only one X
Is it safe to say that both Yang Cheng and OG E-soul died in that fight? The heavy breathing and mannerisms (posing) seem more in line with OG E-soul, while the body build is Yang Cheng's. They seemed to have both lost themselves and fused together to create one body, and maybe one mind. Hell, their trust values aren't back to Yang Cheng's or OG E-soul's pre-fight or pre-Yang Cheng social-exposure numbers, they're combined.
man why hasnt this blow up yet? the music is great, so is the animation and the story always leaves in a cliffhanger, the pacing is somewhat fucked but that by necessity and shouldnt be that big of a dealbreaker
The #1 hero is always called X
E-Soul and Johnny's dad were previously X. X is the title of the number one hero.
I wish they'd used E-Soul's theme music more than at the very end.
I just want them to upload it. Paragon and Jeopardy were uploaded pretty quickly, but Neon Rain is nowhere to be found.
It's a Chinese psyop, and so will never be an anime (like Solo Leveling.)
They released it x.com
lost his friend, girlfriend, arm, idol, identity and now probably popularity contest
i wonder how anyone will be able to beat him at losing
Thanks.
Yang Cheng is the one that lived but the merge also combined at least part of his identity with Old E-Soul. Missing arm, never taking off the mask, just a tool for the corporation.
He truly became E-Soul in that moment
Currently both arcs made me CUM. Maybe E-Soul's had a little less animation (that fight scene was insane though), but they can't keep this up, right?
but they can't keep this up, right?
They better. They had 2 whole years
So you can just kill someone in a duel in China?
I may be confusing it with some other work, but wasn't it 6 years?
Yang commits himself fully to vengeance even though the target was wrong because he was completely and utterly manipulated by Rock
Yang seemingly loses everything
I guess it will probably end up being another parallel he gets with Lin Ling. Rock is probably expecting Lin Ling to go full revenge mode for Moon, but Lin Ling will probably respond differently since going full vengeance seems to be bad considering what happened to Yang.
Treeman is basically the anti-MG corp, it's founded by daddy Shang who used to be in MG. He definitely figured out Rock is a psychopath who killed his son and he created Treeman to go to war with that guy.
Nice's suicide might be related to MG. The guy who calls Enlighter suspiciously sounds a lot like Rock when he calls the goons. And when Lin Ling beats Enlighter, we see Rock tighten his hands a bit so his plan was probably to completely kill Nice by discrediting him with Enlighter.
Maybe Moon was in Treeman not just cause she was Nice's girlfriend but also because teleporting anywhere is really fucking strong if you want to spy on an enemy corp. It's possible that after her "death" and being able to teleport freely again, she had to go.
2 years
That's a fucking tiny amount of development time holy shit
He definitely figured out Rock is a psychopath who killed his son and he created Treeman to go to war with that guy.
Treeman was founded before his son died.
I think they've been cooking for longer than 2 years.
youtube.com
I'm pretty sure this was the first PV and it was uploaded back in 2022. They probably started sometime in 2022 or 2021.
Nice's suicide might be related to MG
Speaking of, I'm still confused as to why all those electronic billboard ads showing Nice were glitching out shortly before his appearance and subsequent suicide. Who was behind those glitches and why?
Maybe it was a direction choice just for kicks that Nice is dead dead
But this occured shortly before he even showed up in the first place. It feels like there was someone spying on him during this entire ordeal. Hell, it might've been MG themselves.
There's still the "Spotlight Organization" who seem to be creating villains. Treeman seems to be the basic agency, MG are the edgelords, DOS are probably all about grooming orphans, and FOMO are the meme agency.
For all we know Spotlight is a shell company for MG.
If Enlighter was working for Treeman like we saw here, it's likely the fear amplifier and God-Eye were MG seeing infighting in Treeman and capitalizing.
Enlighter doesnt work for Treeman, otherwise Miss J would tell him to fuck off in episode 1.
Holy shit, is this actually what happened? big if true
Mighty Glory is the Nijisanji of To Be Hero X
Does anyone have the translated version of this image? I've seen it floating around before, but I can't remember where.
Why did Rock cosplay as shop owner and make Yang Cheng specifically, the new E-Soul?
What the fuck happened to the girls little brother?
Because old E-Soul refused to play the media game. He didn't want to do conventions, or interviews, or any of that stuff, so, in the modern media age where that stuff is key to maintaining popularity, old E-Soul was just wasting the brand.
Gotta get some spunky new kid into the role, who will do all the media stuff, to profit off the E-soul brand.
Kino... just pure kino...
What better tool than a loser orphan with no trust value that's also a huge fan of E-Soul
Noticed a guy who had no family, no friends, no money, and 0 trust value still doing whatever it takes to become a hero. With all those factors combined, it might've been easier to manipulate because all Yang Cheng can look forward to is becoming that hero. There's no one and nothing that can make him pause and think, nor pull him away from that dark path.
I don't think Rock did what he did just for media control of a superhero brand. It is too extreme, too long, requires too much investment, too risky. It seems to me that his goals are more malevolent, like having multiple heroes that he can expose as frauds whenever he wants and possibly destroy the trust value of all (or almost all) top heroes whenever he wants.
I think it's about having tools. Rock essentially groomed Yang for his future role, and then 5 years later he uses E-Soul to kill Moon.
Rock not only got total control of a superhero brand, he has a unwaveringly loyal pawn who wouldn't really question his orders. He probably didn't hesitate to kill Moon when ordered, the old E-Soul would've probably went ape shit seeing all this happening.
Holy fucking shit guys what a briliant episode this was awesome
I knew something was up with him, but I was leaning more that he was the old E-soul looking for someone to replace him.
Queen's trailer is also kinda ominous. I guess a lot of the heroes are being manipulated by their agencies
Wait, there is a 5 year gap with Nice arc? There is a minor character who appeared in both arcs seemingly unchanged.
Yes. The director said it's important to pay attention to the timeline. Lin Ling arc takes place year 41 after commission and the director said that his arc is actually pretty late in the show. Yang's arc starts in Year 36 so Lin Ling's arc is 5 years after Yang's arc.
I already found out the moment he encourage Yang and ignore the girl's plea.
X this Zero this
What is this Megaman?
Something about larping as a hero who’s life you’ve stolen is so kino to me. I feel like we could’ve gotten so much more mileage out of Ling’s tenure as Nice
I guess we're getting more insight into OG-Soul later. He just seems kinda stubborn here, but he might just be very serious and dutiful.
The popularity polls might get weird if it turns out there are going to be two of each hero.
What is this comission we're basing the timeline on?
Lucky's song was absolute dogshit. Please also have other songs to use in your story mode.
Hero commission
So Yang Cheng is just gonna be Rock's cock sleeve now that everything's over?
They honestly should've play Neon Rain there
I think the thing with OG E-Soul was that he was just your typical hero. He didn't want the fame or glory associated with it which is why he showed no interest in it the entire arc and was pretty much just working out every time he was on screen, but the fame came to him because that was just part of the gig. OG E-Soul had no place in the current era of heroes who were essentially being controlled by their fanbases and had to play to their whims.
old e-soul... what a sad way to go
chinkshit
What's next, you are going to discuss other chinkslop too?
FUCK OFF NOT ANIME
