I think the conclusion to the fight is actually fine, and I really like the epilogue. But the ending is without a doubt a mess. Araki obviously had a grander plan for how it ended but it was dragging and he just smushes it together.

What killed the hype?

As a concept Riggas are interesting. A human-like organism that doesn’t really depend on or benefit from society is interesting. I think having one as a protagonist would have been more interesting than just using them as antagonists. It must feel hollow living in a world mostly populated by people that have this vague uncanny valley distance from you on some base psychological level. Even when Josuke was born he had some instinctive desire for family or for anyone who would recognize him. Imagine being a rigga with no one and nothing. How do you find happiness in this world? How do you find success?

I like the idea that Kira mindbroke him with the land-sea-talk so hard that he began to see Kira as a friend. I don't think I've seen a bullied into having a self proclaimed friendship like this before.

I don't take part in storytimes but I noticed these threads were getting into the end game and I just wanted to drop in and say even seeing this arc in passing pisses me off. Fuck you Araki I read this semen slurping manga twice and I hated the back half even more the second time around.
But I did think the first half was so much better, everything up until the end of Vitamin C is actually some of my favorite Jojo stuff, love the creepy atmosphere, Fun Fun Fun is easily a top 5 fight for me.

WoU is entertaining if you ignore it's the climax of the story and not setup for the rest of the story. Mainly because the actual fight is not the focus most of the time and you get to see the characters outside of combat contexts.
It only gets slow during the endless calamity section, when Tooru reaches the Higashikata state and Josuke and WoU enter on a stalemate, at that point Araki tries a bunch of things to make the main villain feel important to the plot while creating dumb connections and stretching the scenes forever until it suddenly ends.

I don't think the rain is connected enough for that to work.

Daiya hasn't done anything, Kyou hasn't done anything, now they introduced Kaato who hasn't done anything for 2-3 volumes since she appeared. Karera was semi-relevant I guess, but everything about her being friends with Josefumi and Kira having a rokakaka in his apartment was retconned. Mitsuba was introduced in volume 1 and took 20 volumes to be relevant.

The issue is that Araki doesn't even keep notes or write ahead to keep himself in check so you only get the most Bare bones pay off. That might have worked before but this is the longest part of Jojo he's made so the cracks are out in the open.

Most people are forcing criticism because they know they actually enjoy the part, but remain salty about the ending. I'm honestly shocked some scenes were completely glossed over, such as Josuke deciding to exit the car (still one of my favorites of Jojolion), whereas you get anons spamming about "Muh Josuke has no character" or forging inconsistencies out of their own low literacy. I agree with most criticism the part gets, but at this point people are inhibiting themselves from having fun.
