Why is it so popular and loved? What's the appeal?

people... get old??
this sort of thinking is considered revolutionary by zoomers and brown people.
it isn't complete dogshit like 99% of anime today only slightly dogshit so retards love it
To be the best you need 2 things, be good enough and luck, Frieren nailed both.
Fern has massive fucking tiddies
It's good
This, zoomers won't watch anything from before they started watching anime and Frieren is legitimately the best anime they've seen because everything else is Reincarnated as a Toilet or some shit.
it's like violet evergarden but good
It filters chuds and that's not a bad thing
Why is it so popular and loved? What's the appeal?
Focus on the logistics and day to day experiences of a journey rather than episodic monster of the week battles. Various races actually matter insofar as having wildly different perceptions of the world and being extremely alien to humans. Generally well written characters and a subject matter that is relatable to a wide audience. Very high production values, the manga isn't *that* good, but the anime is so well directed and well funded that it elevates it greatly.
It's leagues better than any of the crap you watched on toonami, little bro.
What's the appeal?
It just has wide appeal by the fact that's it's both accessible and good
Also I think people underestimate how much the character Frieren elevates it though, they really nailed the balance of having a strong female protag that is actually flawed, relatable and likable. She's a very well rounded character and yet not overly complicated so is easy to understand and agree with her pov.
Also, she cute.
it isn't complete dogshit like 99% of anime today only slightly dogshit so retards love it
They hated him cuz he spoke the truth.
It's the perfect introduction to seinen with enough shonen training wheels to appeal to normalfags.
but it's shounen
why did you post a webm of one of the worst anime ever made
isn't that gintama
No, its bleach.
fpbp
its really good and quality in a medium famous for QUALITY.
People are universally drawn to truth. And unlike modern dogshit anime frieren dared to incorporate some red pills in its work such as
race can be intrinsically evil and should be unapologetically destroyed
Just that puts it above hundreds of other anime that tackled the same issue but opted to make apology for demons and make some of them 'good in heart but misunderstood'
it also glorifies science without attacking religion and its waifus are more realistic but still likeable
>race can be intrinsically evil and should be unapologetically destroyed
this is problematic
I thought it was School Rumble?
Strong female lead.
Same reason as Kusuriya.
you lost and also WNBAW
>race can be intrinsically evil and should be unapologetically destroyed
All people reaching 18 should be psych tested and DnD faggots like you should be eradicated.
cute characters, good animation and serviceable story
This is the answer.
Men like fantasy shows with male leads but can't recommend them to their female friends.
Women like romance shows with female leads but can't recommend them to their male friends.
A fantasy show with a female lead is the perfect recipe for a safe anime that can go viral on normalfag social media and create a virtuous cycle of increasing viewership.
Looking at something that is super popular and basically admitting you don't understand why many people like it is just a subtle admission that you're fucking retarded. Every single one of these threads are the fucking same, it doesn't matter what manga or anime is being discussed, it's always the same 10 responses.
It’s cozy. It’s like coming of age for adults.
Anon Babble loves it tho
struck a nerve
so well directed and well funded
idk about that
CGI for dance scene and CGI backgrounds in the 1st fucking episode should have been avoided if it had any of those
Yeah, seriously.
I dropped Frieren after 6 episodes when I realized it's just shounenslop in disguise, but I understand why it's popular.
I don't ever want to watch a single episode of JJK but I understand why it's popular.
And for most shows that I enjoy, I understand why they're not popular.
This isn't some advanced sociology, after a few years of being in these communities even a half-autist should be able to pick up the patterns.
it's comfy with just the right amount of melancholy and bittersweet feelings. Features competent well written characters.
Not nihilistic at all (probably why Anon Babble dislikes it)
Not being an Isekai already puts it above all the dogshit fantasy anime released in the past 15 years.
The show itself goes downhill when they go to take that stupid exam.
it is an isekai tho
Artificially popular.
native isekai
Organically popular.
Somehow being on top of the MAL ranking and getting heralded as "the best anime ever" has caused its popularity to be artificially boosted, just like FMAB.
I don't get it. I'm not into it. It's not even as popular as JJK ot KnY, it's only popular on twitter
It is genuinely a good show but it helps that all the women are extremely ugly and frumpy and never show skin. Zoomer men have to pretend to be sexless and gay as part of their mating ritual so this is a show that they’re “allowed” to watch/discuss/share amongst their community without becoming creepy
what does it have to do with zoomers
Start a family.

Pretty sure TV ratings for Frieren were significantly higher than JJK S2 every single week they aired together
Violet Evergarden
youtu.be
Frieren

It's slightly less shit than all the other anime..
The first half is good, but the whole wizard chunni exams were boring, and the flashback formula starts to wear thin. My body went nuts for this character, however.
The dance scene is rotoscoped. It has no cgi.
She's a lesbian
Nothing a good dicking can't fix.
Same reason as Kusuriya.
Lmao
The framing device of learning the story by retracing the steps after the war has already ended and what actually happens afterwards was interesting and while maybe other anons are right that "people die" is not that deep, but few things actually explore long-lived/immortal characters in this way. Not just outliving the party but also her weird sense of time. ANime also sold the wistful melancholic mood pretty well and it was nice.
Than we got to the exam-tournament arc combo that took forever and it was downhill from there.
