The thing people don't get about Machu is that she's impulsively heroic. Meaning that if she sees injustice happening in front of her and has the power to challenge it, she'll jump in without hesitation. So she's complex in the sense that while she has the kernel of being a hero, she's pretty self-centered in her day-to-day life.
