Hunter x Hunter

Which Spiders are dying next?

this is STILL going on?

Judging from the cards spider #3.

Nope that's just Togashi showing Machi Hisoka favourite.

None, hunter x hunter is over.

Doesn’t matter, the series is over

You retards always say this but HxH returns everytime. HxH will only be over when Togashi dies.

Retards detected

He’s 57. If you re retarded enough to think back pain of pain Togashi will be still drawing past his mid 60s , I have a bridge to sell you.
The series won’t ever finish. It’s done.

Holy shit, I stand corrected, Togashi is 59! Yep, the series is done.

Togashi might have told a friend how HxH will end and get the Berserk treatment if he passes on his eternal lover, the toilet.

Doubt it. Togashi has already pulled on the “the series pretty much ended when Gon met Ging, everything after is bonus content” shtick. He’s already “done” the ending, so no need to kill his pride for bonus content, right?

It seems unlikely Franklin will encounter Hisoka. Opposite ends of the ship, and I don’t have the impression Hisoka wants to go down. I suppose if Nobunaga grabs Franklin like he said, maybe they’ll go upstairs together, but something about that seems weird to me. I guess the question is, if Franklin doesn’t go upstairs, what’s his deal gonna be?

Rule of horror (one of Togashi’s favorite genre) says Nobunaga will go to get Franklin only to find him dead and deformed, and then we’ll get a flashback showing Hisoka surprise attacking and fighting Franklin.

If not, there’s about 100 moving parts in this arc, all which can create new moving parts on Togashi’s command. I’m sure something will happen.

Friendly reminder he had a surgery in december upon finishing the 401-410 chapter run and he also did some posture correcting last year. At the very least I think he's serious about finishing this arc, maybe

Not op but he’s already disappeared for another 6 months. Togashi is only getting older, he’s 59. 60s is easily the brickwall for many hiatus/disability ridden mangaka.
I think it’s 50/50 he’ll finish the SW. He’d have to genuinely deliver on 10 chapters a year, no breaks. If the arc is as ambitious as it’s written, it’s 50-100 chapters minimum more. At 10 chapters a year, Togashi will be 64-69 when the arc finishes. That’s me being HOPEFUL and assuming everything goes right.

Has Nen Impact released yet? I feel like that was supposed to come out last year

July

I don't think Togashi is as decrepit as a lot of anons try to make him out to be and a lot of people can work into their 70s. There's a massive gap between being a weekly releasing mangaka and releasing the way HxH does when it comes to preserving your physical health

neon pen.webm - 500x384, 819.19K

You’re right. Here’s to another decade until we finish the Succession War! 70 chapters since 2014, hopefully another 70 until 2036! Chapter 480, we’re coming!

If that's the case then maybe we'll hear something about the manga around that time to try and stir up buzz and hype each other up

Hisoka will probably prefer to prioritize targeting the Spiders that were with the group for the longest time. I don't see him being super motivated to target the most recent Spiders, the fillers from the Zoldyck family. If he can pick his targets I imagine he'll pick Chrollo's closest friends. He'll probably kill Chrollo last since he wants to make him seethe and despair. If there's one spider he won't kill it's probably Machi. He already had an easy opportunity to kill her and he skipped on doing that. I subscribe to the theory that Chrollo cheated in this deathmatch with the clown and received help from the Spiders which adequately explains why the clown placed them on his hit list. I also think Machi was the one who made it him realize what happened after the match which is probably why he skipped on killing her. I don't think she gave it away on purpose and Hisoka probably doesn't think it either, but sparing her for that reason makes it funnier.

"yo thanks for letting the truth slip out your mouth because you love me, now I'll go kill all your friends and it's all thanks to you, you da best so I won't kill you bye bye bitch"

She gets clowned than if he just killed her. So in order words it's hard to predict who is first on kill list, but Chrollo and Machi are probably bottom of the list.

This but unsarcastically

Boat arc’s probably the last genuine arc we will ever see from Togashi and we are not even half way finished in it.

What would have to happen for Togashi to put finishing the series over his pride? Aka hiring a main artist and sticking to drafting/assisting and writing. Yes I know it “won’t be the same” , but if Togashi is doing the rough drafts and the main artist is just translating it through their art, I’ll take that and finished Hunter over Togashi dying before we get off the boat.

Even Miura was training his assistants to replace him eventually. I’m not gonna act like Togashi is a shit artist but Togashi usually doesn’t prioritize “detailed” art, he mostly prioritizes expression and translating a scene. I don’t see why he can’t get a replacement artist, hes not putting out berserk level detailed art.

Shut the fuck up Alluka poster, you’re the most stupid camp in the fanbase

You can’t replicate his writing which is the meat of HxH.

No shit, which is why he’d still be the writer. If he died that’s a whole other story.

I think you guys should accept that Togashi purposefully created these arcs knowing he’d never finish them. It’s genius actually

Make arc “ambitious”

pad length

stay in setup

never finish the arc

die leaving people thinking “ this was the greatest setup ever! If it completed, it’d be the greatest arc in history”.

Avoid all the hard choices while reaping the benefits in death

This arc in particular moves at a snails pace because he's pretty meticulous about not losing control over the whereabouts of most of the dozens of semi-important characters. Togashi probably has like 10 more unreleased images like this in his office with all the other characters and everytime he releases 10 chapters he triple checks to make sure characters are where they should be.

Setups are important but I don’t think Togashi was even planning years in advance. Look at how the story is structured from the hunter exam all the way to the election arc it’s all shota shit. Now I know why he lost motivation.

It gets forgotten that Chimera arc took 8 years to publish and this arc has like 5x more scale to it

You’re making it harder than it sounds. Togashi doesn’t have a job except to make manga. He didn’t release a chapter from 2018-2022.
If he worked on his story 8 hours a day (like the average human being), he should’ve long plotted out the entire arc.
Or is Togashi such a lazy sack of poop that he treats his story like a side project?

I’d genuinely take the early ca arc magazine art if it meant Togashi could increase his output. He’d fix them in the volume anyways (and we’d get an anime which would make the early history of the arc mute, as happened with the Chimera ant magazine art after 2011 anime)

Togashi doesn’t have a job except to make manga

I think he's more or less self-employed and I don't like to pretend that this arc could be made in a standard weekly format and even monthly might be troublesome when it comes continuity things

SMvenus.jpg - 361x528, 34.35K

standard weekly

monthly

Good thing he doesn’t work on that’s censure then , right? As I said, Togashi has had more than enough time where he’s done nothing , he shoudlve long plotted the arc. Or maybe he’s just a lazy sack of shit who treats his story like a side project, right?

Work on that scheudle* then

I'm pretty sure he admitted that he got some form of writers block during that 2018-2022 hiatus and "gave up" for a while, but then a nice idol girl said some nice things about HxH and drew a picture of Killua which inspired him to try and get back at it

There's a decent chance that if he gets a diagnosis that gives a timeframe as to when he'll lose his life, that he might be willing to change his mind. Stubbornness, even if well-earned, can fade away when it comes to stuff like that.

See, that’s what I’m worried about. Togashi can give up again at any moment . It’s a shame that the post Gon content is the best content in the series, because I don’t think Togashi feels he has a genuine duty to finish.

I don’t like treating Gon meeting Ging as an ending, because Kurapika and Hisoka’s stories weren’t finished. It’s be like ending Bleach after the Aizen arc where ichigo loses his powers. Would it have been better if Togashi tried to finish Kurapika and Hisoka’s storyline in the election arc, maybe? Maybe start the election arc with Hisoka vs Chrollo. Hisoka kills the two troupe members, the troupe hunts him to the election/Hunter association. Kurapika comes to see Gon after hearing about the injury, gets his final resolution with the troupe and Gon/killua/leorio.

Last year he had the Toriyama boost which seemed to be a key reason that he grinded from like chapter 405 to 425 every day for 6 months straight, but then another old veteran mangaka he likes passed away in November which he said affected him in a depressing way

No because Togashi made the Troupe too strong. Fact is he wrote himself into a corner and is unable to finish what he started. And Kurapika as he was is too weak since even if he could chain one up the rest would just gain up on him since they like working in pairs on any kind of job they do.

this is it, all the other posts about laziness or a idol inspiring him or writing himself into a corner or whatever are complete bullshit. Togashi is a 60 year old man that had his back mangled from overwork and cant even sit comfortably or wipe his own ass. He makes Hunter x Hunter for his own fulfillment/enjoyment and has no emotional or financial obligation to drop chapters besides that. Toriyamas death inspired him to get back to the grind but that can only last so long before he runs out of steam. The only reason he keeps making hxh is because of the fulfillment he gets from it and the possibility of dying before making more chapters kicked him into overdrive, thats also why he dropped the placeholder endings. I think its likely the succession war will conclude but we are never seeing the DC or anything like that.

Dude I agree, but I honestly couldn’t give a shit about the DC right now. I just hope he can finish SW before we all have gray hair. It’s weird though. His pride will keep him from drastically changing up how he approaches making this manga , but he also isn’t prideful enough to put out chapters in any means necessary.

I need to see how this character trifecta concludes

Hisochrochi.jpg - 372x836, 65.68K

I think he really likes to get his priorities straight and when everything is good in his personal life, then it's time to slave away for a handful of months before getting burnt out and taking some time to reinvigorate and start fresh. It basically feels like a passion project at this point but passion can only last so long before you need a break.

I think Togashi’s self aware that the succession war would be his magnum opus. You don’t quit while you’re writing your best piece of art. I think we’ll see where this all goes.

Togashi clearly wants another tournament arc. Yeah sure DC is probably this mythical place but that’s where the boat arc will end. On another tournament. No real loss if we never reach it.

Look I can understand why chimera ant arc is in many top 10 manga arc lists. But the current arc blows it out the water. Seriously. If the CA arc is considered a regular on top 10 arc lists, finished succession war should easily take 1st place for best arc in manga
