Let's say you were creating a manga. How would you design the perfect isekai?
Describe one or several isekai briefly, and I will choose the one I like best and want to visit.

Just look at every adventure anime before SAO
Even craps like Rave and Beet the Vandel Buster had a sense of love for their world. It was not a playground to jack off the MC.
Mc is an alien that crashlanded in a fantasy isekai world. He’s a fish out of water trying to adapt to the new world and to find meaning for why he was sent here (doesn’t remember anything before the crash)
Superman. The theme is him learning how to live as a human rather than getting sucked off
Just give me the anime version of "The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant" where MC sincerely refuses to believe in the reality of what is happening and perceives all the events as his dying delirium.
I came up with an isekei vidya game
you play as truckkun as you hunt down people to run over
you also choose what isekai world they get sent to and the context in which theyre sent
you get contracts put on people who have shitty lives you have to help this way
basically you're a detective and you have to discern a person's tastes and preferences and wants so you can send them to an isekai that matches their desires the best, going off a percentage grade
the retarded part is that youre a truck, an big actual truck, while doing all of this detective work, too. Like a big truck in a trench coat and a sherlock hat with a magnifying glass as you stalk people and break into their rooms to figure out their tastes. Everyone else in the world treats this as normal lol, and talk to you as if you're a person if you interact with them, while your only way of communicating back is *HOOOONNNNKKK*
there's a secret contract mode where instead of hunting people with shitty lives to isekai you hunt terrible people, like criminals and killers and stuff, and send them to isekai worlds befitting of punishment for their crimes, like an antihero who took the law into his own tires
eventually a freeplay mode is unlocked, where you can do whatever you want and send people to whatever isekai you want with no contracts, even running over mass civilians to send them all to the same place
basically total truckkun freedom
I think, if executed properly, it can be a genuinely fun game
A LitRPG world with game mechanics for everyone, locals and people get Isekaied into it. The twist is that the world's game system is a bit broken at points and no god or sys admin is fixing things. So a bit like Bofuri but without any fixing.
Some people discover these broken parts and turn them into power. Think like marital artist sects that train people, only they train people in exploiting the system.
The system keeps pulling new people into the world and then giving that group a new set of racial abilities. Most groups get trash skills. So a group gets a 10% bonus to spear use. Another might get a crafting buff. These new groups of people can pass on that racial skill to their children. When they mix with the native people they are adding in their new racial skill at a 50% mix into the massive list of all the other skills the native population has. Everyone is born with one skill.
Eventually someone is going to come in with a skill that will interact with some aspect of the game mechanic systems and completely break the world.
So... it's like playing an Elder Scrolls game but as your life.
An example of the system being broken. You get skill experience for using skills. Lets say rock throwing. By hitting a target you get more experience than missing. The skill makes you better at throwing rocks, which makes it easier to get more experience the more skilled you are at throwing rocks. Inverting the difficulty curve. Your ability to making harder throws that reward more experience goes up faster than the cost of leveling higher level skills. Think like the system is multiplying the exp cost and it should be exponentially raising it.
Read an actual book
I've read more books than dicks your mom has sucked.
ACTUAL Books
What is Dragon Ball
could a trump trump in a perfect world? or is it pointless? perhaps the students can attack
How to design the perfect isekai
Don't make it Isekai
Never read a Stranger in a Strange Land?
creating a manga
You're already halfway there. Just don't look at web novels.
manga-based isekai are so good it is unreal
Even those that have silly premises utilize them to their fullest instead of completely abandoning after the first couple of chapters
WNs require no experience or skill to write and its readers don't care
Experienced writers like to say that ideas don't matter and that quality writing is more important.
Jim Butcher got into an argument with a guy and wrote a successful 3 book series on the dumbest idea he was given.
However Jim was already a very popular author and the dumb idea (Lost roman legion x pokemon) wasn't actually that stupid.
What WN show is that people will read a badly written story that has an intriguing idea so long as the author doesn't totally depart from modern writing conventions. Basically if you have read a book, watched a TV or Movie, or played a video game created in the last 50 years you are aware of the sorts of things you need in a book.
he missed out on watching back arrow.
Escaflowne
I just started the potion isekai
I love potion crafting as a concept
The first 10 minutes of isekai garbage were painful to get through
What a fucking cringe genre bros
I wish fantasy anime weren't plagued by this taint so prevalently
I'm still gonna give this anime a shot because I like potions, but it really put its worst foot forward here lol
The city is a perfect circle
you reincarnate and have to grow up again
your isekai sister loves you and isn't blood related for some reason
you gain mastery in magic before age 10 and get shipped off to an academy
Can I get my sister pregnant
Its possible, but you're the mc so no sex until you can do it offscreen after the series ends.
Self check but also wasted digits desu
Finished the first ep
It's alright
Animation is kinda weak, artstyle a little boring
It immediately loses points because there's no actual potion making, she just magics them into existence, so it's kinda gay
But I'll give it a chance if it gets funnier and cosier
ironically enough that makes it an extremely meritocratic medium where only good stuff thrives
too bad westoids literally can't read on top of MTL being raped to death due to AIslop so they will never be able to experience kino
Meeeeehhhhhhh
I finished ep 3
The third ep was quite bad
The first half of it consisted entirely of the main character yapping about bullshit for literally minutes uninterrupted while everyone just stares at her with mouth agape. Then she goes off and leaves the second place she was to find a NEW new life where she can live peacefully, and I'm just left here wondering what the point of these first two episodes even are if they ended up being basically useless in the grand scheme of things. I guess theyre going for a story where she cant live a normal life because she keeps fucking up by making it obvious she's special? If so, I'm not intrested in watching episode after episode of her starting over in a new city to fuck it all up again. The animation is really weak and bland. Very few shots look genuinely good or beautiful. I can excuse mediocre animation as long as there's a quality story or writing attatched, but, the writing is also very lacking here. It's just all over the damn place and feels like it doesn't know what it wants to be
The potion premise is completely wasted as there is actually nothing cool she does with them. Not only do we not get to see them being made, the process of learning and crafting, they just appear out of thin air, it's been three episodes and so far she's only used healing potions and appearance change potions for the most part. There was a scene at the end of ep 3 where she used a few more varieties, including a perfume basically, but that was like a minute long scene. Where's the creativity? Where's the actual magical effects she can apparently do anything with? Not even invisibility? Oh yeah, but make a onions sauce potion to make omletterice, yeah, that's what I'm here for fuck yeah. Come on man. I get the slight subversion that she though she was going to be in a fantasy world and it turns out it was just medival europe she got sent to, but is that really a strong premise for a show? What's the point man? Might drop, idk
I used to think the west had no equivalent to this awful genre, but then I was made aware of LitRPG. The only difference is that litRPG doesn't get adaptions like isekai does, with the exception of Dungeon Crawler Carl but that's the Konosuba of litRPG anyway.
You can find western-written Jap-style isekai, just don't expect much of it to be as good as the best Japanese isekai
im going to isekai you into berserk, yes you who is reading this, try to avoid any trucks I guess.
Perfect Isekai
It's all subjective. There's no one perfect isekai, just one that's perfect for you(maybe).
A sexy gynoid is sent by a star-faring civilization to an isekai planet to gather magical energy (in the form of artifacts). Sending back artifacts gives her more supplies, and she'll be extracted after 200 years.
Since she's basically biologically immortal but needs to conceal her unnatural nature, she blends in with the population and lives out multiple lives, vanishing each time people get suspicious.
She also ends up having multiple descendants, none of whom find out that she's not human. Possible lives include:
Tavern-owner's wife
Warlord's concubine
Adventuress
Nobleman's mistress
Merchant-princess
Queen, right before a revolution.
Each time the people around her start to figure out that she might be more than human, she fakes her death and flees to start again under a new 'identity'.
I think 'The Beginning After the End' is a English novel, is it? I've never actually read it.
slut robot
ewwww
I think overlord nails it
overlord is fun but the world building doesn't make much sense, 99% of new worlders are retards and the power imbalances are unrealistic (strongest ones would conquer others, adventurer are living nukes that would be fighting wars)
they are effectively middle aged peasants who can't read or write so I'd say they're about as smart as they ought to be.
even nobles / royalty don't have the same level of access to basic knowledge and information that modern people do
there's no purpose to adventurers fighting wars. the entire point of wars in overlord is population control
I think adventurers are explicitly prevented from fighting in wars.
I would set it in the Kingdom of Hungary during the civil war following the death of Árpád dynasty. That alone would have plenty of insanity for fantasy setting, add magic on top of it and it would be amazing.
step 1: don't be a shit writer or artist but that's less important
step 2: don't insult my reader with a shitty isekai-trucking change that ask them to suspend disbelief like a beggar
step 3: perfection may not exist but still give your all
idea 1
post-singularity civilization send single person in other unknown dimension, in the hope of understanding the ultimate answer
each traveler is equipped with enough tech to essentially act as/be a god, for reason only can be conscious, other mind have to be found/reassembled after
their own civilization is the result of such alien traveler, the 48th jump (involving a black hole).
each universe have different laws of physics
this story is about it going really bad in a way that look like a heroic fantasy story, like the traveler-god DIE, and it just so happen another tralever coming later suffer amnesia
...it's a whole thing, 3 series in 3 time period, one of them about a clumsy apprentice-goddess whose job-description is to demonstrate that "god aren't infaillible" and also "protect all from the EVIL DEMON GOD"
finished by a movie which end with the (ex) EVIL DEMON GOD being part of the 49th jumps, then surprisingly crawl out of the black-hole like a beyond-god monster seeking revenge turn out he just couldn't talk until it finished setting up a parmanent two-way dimensional gate
Broken game Isekai v3
British MC land in this vidya world and discovers it's broken like a Bethesda Isekai
He discovers that nearly all intelligent being of this world use exploit to get to up to level 100.
Non-sentient NPC creature also level-up to match the average.
So the monstrous wolf the lvl1 MC killed with exploit?
It was a lvl32 "weakened lesser wolf cub" who had barely escaped an acidbear.
A lumberjack bad day is when he breaks his greater enchanted masterwork magma axes while cutting a lvl67 Treant.
A farmer usually takes 20 level in wisdom to guess the weather right and +30 strength when his lvl50 sheep need to be sheared
Their wives at home usually have 50 lvl in magic, some of it to track their kids, some pyromancy perk to light the fireplace, conjure "Royal's Feast", make servant appear...
Because of the owner level, their peasant-type house's cave procedurally generate dungeon & catacomb
The local blacksmith can't make anything below the "Greater" attribute, even nails.
A miner have to punch rock to obtain more iron than gold
Fishermen throw homing harpoons at giant fish who cast shield, decoy & teleport
Meanwhile, the kids are playing hide&seek using Improved Invisibility and Chaotic Polymorph
They have to stop because OldMan will summon rain today for the farm, they grumble because even Epic Mind Control won't sway Oldman maxed out wisdom.
At first the MC merely survive (hunting lvl29 rats for coins), the level up exploit itself is simple but take a year to gain 20 lvl.
Eventually he is caught up by his invoker who misplaced him: BEST-GIRL (lvl100). She respec her build to make herself able to invoke a warrior from outside the universe (She's a Necromancer-Rogue-Priestess-Shaman-Archer-Barbarian-Psionic-Dancer-Blacksmith-Wizard-Ranger-Commoner-Paladin-Assassin-Artificer).
Why?
His mission is to kill a lvl1 "Sentient trap" who lost 2 level and glitched back up to lvl127
Using exploits beyond sanity they beat it like an oldschool 2D boss battle
that is a unrealistic hack come on, adventurers would be hoarded and weaponized.
I like overlord but you need to accept it as a fun power fantasy not try to convince me it's an isekai worldbuilding masterpiece
Truman Isekai
Or Franken Fran isekai
if the adventurers are so powerful that they are living nukes how are kingdoms expected to leverage them? money? title? obviously forcing them won't work
A dude's son gets isekai'd. One year later, after going through absolute hell (divorce, accused of murder) he meets a mysterious stranger who offers him the chance to find his son.
The stranger turns out to be an elf girl. When he asks who she is and how she knows his son, she tells him that she was his son's wife.
When he accepts the offer, he finds himself in a fantasy world divided between multiple warring gods. His son fought as the champion of <Deity> for ten years, then abruptly went missing. Dad is recruited because he shares the same DNA and can use the same abilities as his son.
It turns out his son went undercover to join the rebel faction planning to take out all the gods.
A highlight of this story would be the queasiest not-love-affair ever, where the elf girl starts to get a crush on Dad, and Dad really wants to bang her but knows it would be horrifically wrong to fuck his son's wife.
I mean, you're entirely right. All the most powerful individuals work for the state, like how the Theocracy has those Black Scripture guys.
forced recruiting using your own existing adventurers, which of course snowballs and the only viable kingdom would be the one containing all the best spellcasters etc that conquers everything else
Escaflowne
You are an anon of remarkable taste
That said, Escaflowne plot & quality is only held by novelty and surprise.
Even if they didn't have money problems, I doubt 38 episodes would have had a proper story.
Protagonist gets isekai'd into a world full of city states with wildly different cultures and tech levels. If the protagonist stays in one of these city states for more than three days they become an npc of that city state and cease to be the protagonist.
sounds like a quick and easy way to get yourself killed
Overlord is a waste, it would have been better without isekai character, and better without dumb vidya game reference.
It would mean creating a balanced setting, not just one where Ains sama is never challenged
yeah well its the middle ages and the king is telling you not asking, and if he doesn't you will all be killed by the king that does
It turns out publishing the napkin scribbles of the unwashed masses and failed mangaka on a website that determines popularity solely by how much it appeals to the lowest common denominator, isn't the best way to get decent stories.
Guy is a Pro-gamer who plays a super cool Video game.
And that's it.
And yet even you would rather read and rant about them than just read traditionally published garbage.
but you're a hyper OP adventurer that's a walking nuke. you'll just kill any king that threatens to coerce you in that way. and you'd be in the right for doing it so neighboring kingdoms wouldn't label you an outlaw
if you learned anything from the re-estize arc it's that the king is too busy tard wrangling nobles to try and capture a bunch of adventurers to try and take over the world
also if you learned anything from the great Ainz-sama himself it's that the carrot is more effective then the stick
You have to read a few of these first before you can critique them, dumbass.
Actually sounds good.
Tell me more about the incest crevice.
Ehh fuck it, any half-decent manga-original porn isekai where the author isn't afraid of showing sex?
desu I wanna see if the author can keep the art quality up on the weekly/monthly schedule. If plot is surprisingly good that's a bonus tho.
I want an all original story that isn't stapled together from tropes and supported by boilerplate plot hooks and video game mechanics.
I want to see a loss of culture. In japan you have to act a certain way, because that's their culture. Anywhere else it doesn't work. I wanna see actual culture shock, I wanna see MC learning to not be japanese.
I wanna see actual romance instead of "he was nice to me, so I'm going to orbit"
Reincarnation Colosseum
Isekai Furin (I & II)
Hell's Tormentor Kraken
Mine is just GATE, but it's about a former US Spec-Ops soldier going back into the other world after America HIMARS'd the evil wizards, and he was angry because they just left without dismantling the evil slave trade. So he smuggled himself back to the other world to help those in need and uncovers a giant conspiracy involving multiple gates to Earth, illicit arms manufacturing and an interstellar empire of evil spirits that seeks to enslave all matter-bound lifeforms. He adopts a daughter whose soul was bound to a fire-genie by evil wizards and gets married to a lamia witch, and his best friend is a hyper-intelligent talking horse.
Wait that's the fucking imperial city
You may have dyslexia anon,
You accidentally inverted the "c" and the "s".
perfect isekai is called Drifters
all yall ideas shit
it's isekai, comes with the territory
Wrong Calvin and Hobbes comic, whoops
It's a zoomtard doesn't realize this shit has been done to death long before he was born thread
this thread is unnecessary because the perfect isekai world (and mc) already exists and is called
