Let's be real one of the best things about Wonderful was their group dynamic. It was always fun and interesting how they conflicted and meshed with each other, especially Yuki and Komugi. That's just not something we're seeing with Idol. Meroron is the first character to actually bring something fun into the group. Tanaka has potential but he's just sort of... there and Kaito hasn't done anything since singing with Uta on the beach

The fights in Wonderful sometimes really highlighted the importance of the arena itself and I thought that was pretty cool. It's usually just an after thought. Other seasons do it sometimes too and Wonderful didn't do it all the time, but it's nice when the setting is actually relevant and contextual and not just the place they happen to be.

Strong lasers are the obvious solution, but any Cure with a fast piercing attack (like an arrow) could beat the Wonderfuls easily. Lillian has the best shield, but her ability to regenerate her shield and make it stronger is pointless with attacks that would pierce like that. Furthermore, the Wonderful shields aren't omnidirectional, so any attacks that could go around it could catch the Wonderfuls off-guard pretty easily despite their ability to make multiple shields (Like the HaCha's area attacks). They are also proven to be weak to heat or cold since they are still affected by temperature in Cure form, so any fire and ice Cure would have a distinct advantage, and there's a lot of those.
There's also absurd stuff like Cure Passion's teleportation, Cure Heart's flash step, or Lovely's ... well whatever she does to be honest, she's outright brutal.

Every time a shield cure has her shield penetrated I think of it as a metaphor for defloration.

Sleep beam does give the Wonderfuls a good chance against any close combat user, but that doesn't help when long ranges are involved (maybe it wouldn't help at all against Cures since it doesn't seem to work if a creature is outright strong enough, but that's a dubious claim. Even if it were true, it's impossible to quantify how strong a Cure would need to be to resist Panda's sleep).
I think they can only shrink themselves. The powered up by Gaou hamster could shrink other people, but the Wonderfuls never did that.

I was looking through my folders for something else and seeing just how many screenshots I took of this stretch of episodes between when emiru and lulu met to when they became cures really reminded me of how it was probably my favorite time in my entire watch of the whole series. It's not my favorite season overall (though it's probably top 5) but I think they really had something special and were firing on all cylinders here.

I regret not really being into taking screenshots back then.

I only took a handful during the first two or three seasons I watched which means my heartcatch folder in particular is pretty small comparatively speaking. between that and me hard binging it compared to every other season where I took the better part of a month to let them breathe a little, I feel like I should rewatch it someday.
