The dub Vs sub debate only exists because people don't like how corny shows sound in English.
Truth is, it definitely sounds corny in Japanese too, but you get to remove yourself from that since you don't speak the language.

forced meme
as for the rest, it's retarded

counterpoint :subs are just nip dubs, therefore we don't need second language dubs

I don't like dubs because the American voice acting industry is a piece of shit and they see anime as absolute bottom of the barrel crap that you only do to build a portfolio, most anime voice actors are amateurs or begrudgingly doing it paired with directors that only care about finishing their shift as quickly as possible ending up with a terrible product, especially in comparison with how competitive and high quality the nip VA industry is.
add to that their tendency of throwing their hot political opinions online and union backed shitfits.
You can count the amount of good american voice actors (not regular actors doing voices) with your fingers and they sure as hell aren't working on anime

This is the dumbest dub cope that people have been cluelessly regurgitating longer than you've been alive.

You're wrong. This meme is perpetuated by retards who only speak English.
Bilingual jp-en friends have told me that English dubs are aids, and I'm en-es bilingual and can tell you that Spanish dubs are (mostly) great compared to English dubs.
Even the (very few) British English dubs I've encountered are better than the American English ones.
American accents are nicer to listen to but their delivery is awful.

This retarded take was proven time and again wrong. Also English Only Peons actually believe that crap, and it's just sad.
If you still don't speak Japanese to a decent extent after years and years of watching anime, you are among the few people with language learning dysfunction.

I want to watch a foreign production as close to the director’s intentions as possible, not some random American acting troupe’s “interpretation” of how it should be told. I would never voluntarily watch a foreign film dubbed, why should animation be different?

I realize subtitles also do this to an extent, but it’s significantly better.

TRUTH NUKE

go back, faggot

I can't stand english dubs because the female voice actors all use this ultra fake anime girl voice that doesn't sound like the original anime girl voice (which I realize is also fake) or even the anime girl voices dub vas in other languages do. you don't have this issue with male english vas.

Spanish dubs are (mostly) great compared to English dubs.

lol
lmao
just learn jap and stop deluding yourself, both are terrible
t. native spanish speaker

This. Voice acting can make or break a character.
A really good popular example for that would be FF7 game dubs, which despite being praised by brainlet dub consuming majority, features completely different characters than the original, especially our protag. A kind of broken man struggling with talking like a human at times versus your average teen boy with gimmicky arrogance.

Bro, you just sound corny. Dub hate is so forced.

nah it's dub love that's forced
I dont even get why you need dubs in 2025 when everything is already translated (thank fansubs)

FF7 Remakes have one the worst translations in general. Or rather it's just a rewrite.

Yeah, I use subs for guidance, but sometimes I better just not even glancing at them. What a fucking retarded staff thinking they need to put their own quirky script onto everything. Like I said, totally changes the characters.

People hating dubs in big 2025

You sound like a dubfag who is hurt by his inability. But lucky for you, there's subtitles, so everything else is on you.

The dub Vs sub debate only exists because people don't like how corny shows sound in English.

No, I hate every aspect of English localization and want everyone involved to be rendered destitute.
It's been nothing but a decades-old scam bloating production costs and causing the product consumers actually want (a straight English translation) to be locked behind the vanity work they do to justify their own jobs.
When broadcast TV started dying in the west, the sole profitable reason to make an English dub (for a TV deal) died with it. But how many dubs ended up airing on TV anyway, one in 60? One in 100? It was only pure flim-flam to trick Japan out of money.

Truth is, it definitely sounds corny in Japanese too, but you get to remove yourself from that since you don't speak the language.

Seiyuus have to train their asses off to be any good and work low competitive rates. What success they attain is deserved, so they're the only ones who deserve royalties for their work.

Nah, Ik you stink. Go get some pussy you dork. It's never that serious.

Bro is talking like sephiroth, relax.

I don't think dubs are inherently bad. But I also don't think it's worth wading through countless shit dubs just find one that's, at best, equal to the original Japanese performance. I'll just save myself the headache and stick with what I know will be good.

you don't speak the language

First of all, speak for yourself. Second of all, you don't need to speak a language to pick up on things like cadence and delivery. If it sounds good, it sounds good. If it sounds bad, it sounds bad.

absolute nigger-tier argument
japanese voice acting is simply more authentic and professional. dubs got so bad now people yearn for adv dubs because what crunchyroll puts out is that terrible

you're just not used to hearing the Chinese dub/language. I remember watching some Chinese anime and turning it off, but eventually, it stopped being so off-putting.
Japanese sounds pleasant to English ears because of the similar inflection and rhythm, Chinese and Korean not so much.

I hate korean language, partially because what you said, yet still watched a certain hit series with it, because the difference between that and the english dub was huge when it came to characterization.
And that's despite it actually having gotten a much higher tier dub than any anime could ever hope for.

Nah, because if that were the case then only JP-->EN dubs would be shit, but almost ALL EN dubs are shit, regardless of what the original language was.
Anyone who watches any foreign films can hear how bad the dubs are compared to the original performances.

>Truth is, it definitely sounds corny in Japanese too, but you get to remove yourself from that since you don't speak the language.

Retard.

I am watching a Japanese show , made by Japanese people, that is about Japanese people, set in Japan land. Why wouldn't I watch it in Japanese.
I watched Squid game in Korean because it is made by Koreans, actors are Korean and set in Korea.

Everyone always says this shit but I watch raw anime daily since I know Japanese and while, yes, it sounds (and is written) differently from natural dialogue, it still blows the fucking shit out of ENG dubs of Japanese games and shows. Why is this meme so relevant? Is it just dubfag cope?

Which 2hu would you fuck?

Remi cute

Who let the coon in?

I watch RAW anime DAILY

I'm just posting screenshots from Crunchyroll's ripper releasees to blend in

It's called voice ACTING for a reason, retard. Acting transcends language.

no, it's called dubbing

Yeah, it really is a shame that webrips are all hardcoded and you can't just turn the subtitles off in MPV. If that weren't the case, life would be so much easier being able to download them sooner than TV-rips, with a much higher quality over the typical AT-X rip.

fuck off and go back

No argument

Why are you talking about chinese? But anyway chinese is naturally hideous due to the phonology, like dutch. You pretend to like it because you're chinese.

Truth is, it definitely sounds corny in Japanese too

This cope will never be true no matter how much it's repeated. Japanese seiyuu are the best in their field, they have actual range and acting skills. Western voice actors are the rejects who weren't good enough to get the kind of acting gigs that are respected in the west.

TRUTH NUKE

Thread hidden.

been watching raws for years
i've occasionally experienced bad performances or seiyuu i start to dislike for whatever reason, but i'd rather drop the show than listen to incompetent amerimutts act out a worst-case translation

china doesn't make anime chang

Maybe I just don't like 40 year old burger F-listers trying to "act" and mangle japanese words

American voice actors and actresses are shit. British voice actors and actresses tend to be good, which is why British English dubs such as Wlden Ring's, Dark Souls', Bloodborne, and Final Fantasy 16 are good.

IMG_3680.jpg - 299x168, 14.19K

The worst part about dubs is that they effectively create a "standard" english pronunciation of japanese words, and retards act like it's the only way you can say it. These fake pronunciations also enter english outside of north america where accents can pronounce japanese words more accurately. So you're left with a very wrong way of saying things.

Too bad there's never been a british dub of anime, the british class differences could more accurately represent the character architypes

People don't like North American dubs because it's a monopolistic union of weaboos, failed cartoon voice actors, and e-celebs with zero range voicing multiple roles.

Wrong

This is a Fumo thread

Don't lump canada in, canadian dubs often get praised here

As far as I know, german dubs are technically pretty good. They have the professional voice actors and experienced directors.
Spic dubs can be janky but they generally let themselves have fun.
The last time english VAs enjoyed dubbing was Ishuzoku Reviewers and it got axed.

Holy fail

*Elden Ring's

Urusei Yatsura got some episodes dubbed by BBC.

That was just a parody by some comedians with nothing better to do

No you fucking newfag retard. I can also understand dubs in French and Spanish and they only sound fucking awful in English because of low effort ameritrash dub practices.

As much as I'd like to believe this is true, it just isn't.

It doesn't sound corny in Japanese because Japanese people and media are corny in general.
