This page Supposed to show how Asa has changed. In conventional media, we would see the character face adversity and trauma from past, but Fujimoto has a unique approach with Asa's writing. Instead of making her process the trauma, he created a story where the past mistakes become irrelevant, after which Asa is left with feeling like she doesn't have to think about it. This is the ultimate surrender to Yoru because Asa has been crushed into being inconsequential bystander in her own life. At first she's talking about how the world around her is corrupt but right now she understands that she's also part of the problem and can't judge others for being awful. So she gives up control, not like she had any chance to make the difference. The scene isn't for shipfags, it's a new low Asa has fallen into.

Death really doesn't seem as smart as Makima to me, she is adaptable but a lot of what has transpired seem to be not going exactly as planned for her.
While I don't know about penance, I do think Death has a twisted Devilish love for her sisters .
At times, she even seems almost protective of them, like when she asked about Asa's missing arm and when she stopped Falling from harming Famine.
Despite her obvious power, she seems oddly fragile and vulnerable to pain.
Not to mention the disrespect that many of her Pawns seem to have towards her.
Falling might be the only one that is truly loyal.
Reze is not going to suddenly burst into part 2 and save Denji from his fate. If anything she is still Makima’s pawn just like Creepy Uncle Barem is so if she does end up coming back it will be to lick Asa’s feet because she swings that way now.

i think it's just that the nature of the two devils is different. makima was the literal control devil so it was her nature to control and manipulate events and people.
death is more of a blunt instrument. her first instinct is to just kill whatever is bothering her. i believe she was genuinely frustrated with asa after aquarium arc and was fine with killing her through falling.
nayuta's refusal to help also probably made her figure that nayuta was better off dead.
lastly, after witnessing famine's incompetence, she refused famine's offer for help and just killed and ate her instead.
however, she does adapt and was very successful in manipulating asa after the two initial failures.
i believe that she is in an extremely nerfed state after removing her organs and is basically like the gun devil who had piece of it scattered across the globe. but death has done it intentionally to decrease her power.
