If you didn't watch Haruhi from 2006-2009...are you a permanent new fag? You didn't use bit torrent to pirate the series in 2006?
Damn
If you didn't watch Haruhi from 2006-2009...are you a permanent new fag? You didn't use bit torrent to pirate the series in 2006?
Damn
haruhism is a millennial phenomenon that has no relevance in the current era
no because im not ancient
I watched the first season uploaded to youtube in the inferior viewing order (chronological) with each episode cut into sub-ten minute chunks because of the upload length limit.
Did you guys get into anime during covid?
Gatekeeping
Not everyone had the mild autism to sit through endless eight when both Spuce and Wolf and Bakemonogatari were right there.
I'm sorry... I watched it in 2010 on watchcartoonsonline... I didn't start torrenting anime until 2011....... ........
I've watched Haruhi only in the end of 22 although I've been animefag since probably 02 or 03
look at me everyone, I'm a millennial!
I thought you all hated it when the papers called you the 'me' generation
Aren't you zoomers all a bunch of sexless losers living with your parents?
dont you ever drag my wife again to your shitty excuse of a thread just to call others zoomers
Funny enough. I have less of an issue with Zoomers as I do with the 30+ year old fans who weren't around during the fansub years, but think they are old timers.
If you are 21 and you've been watching anime since like...2014. That's one thing.
If you're 31 gtfo
I watched it after I saw lots of people doing the Hare Hare Yukai dance at an anime con in 2006. Honestly don't know why that inspired me to give it a shot when I found it so cringe. But it was good, so all's well that ends well.
Yeah, or you were just watching more interesting things back then and weren't a complete virgin.
I didn't like it back then and in all honesty I think most people liked it because it gave them the illusion of being a part of a real community.
nope, im just not nearing my 40s you old fucker
I'm 32. I'm not that old by millennial standards
I couldn’t have been bothered to watch Haruhi in 2006 because I was too busy having the time of my fucking younger life back then before smartphones and the 2008 recession rugpulled everything and now we have this fucking nightmare fuel everyday that we all get to wake up to in this godforsaken world ruled by literally Satan himself.
bros why does everything have to be so goddamn gay since the 2000s? I would endless 8 the shit out of 2006 if I could.
now we have this fucking nightmare fuel everyday that we all get to wake up to in this godforsaken world ruled by literally Satan himself.
Geez buddy! drama queen much?
new fag

phoneposting
I did this but for panty and stocking
I was 9 years old in 2006, growing up in a technologically illiterate household with boomer parents who were in their 40s or nearing their 40s when I was born
How the hell was I ever supposed to get into anime then? All I had was toonami reruns on TV in the early 00s
My first anime was DitF, which I watched on Crunchyroll, on my phone.
I'm older than most oldfags (I mainly like 80s and 90s stuff) and stayed away from Haruhi when it came out because it looked like "modern anime" to me at the time, which I didn't like
Years later I watched it. It was...okay
Haruhi is a strange middle ground series between millennials and zoomers. Too modern to be old, too old to be modern
It's really not that remarkable. The movie is good, and it's insane release cycle is certainly something of note, but completely devoid of the context of just how big of a sensation it was at the time, it doesn't really stand out that much compared to its contemporaries.
I think there is a good reason why older shows can remain bona fide classics (cowboy bebop, NGE, etc) while Haruhi has kind of quietly left the conversation.
If you were here at age 10 for the 2006 broadcast then your parents have some explaining to do
Haruhi was the start of anime being attracted by normalfags
Honestly, I'd say it's because the "conclusion" is immensely unsatisfying. I don't know anything about the novels (I think there is some kind of drama with the author), but from just the anime just feels like so much more could have happened that just didn't.
yes I'm not a 30 year old
I watched it in parts on YouTube
Here's something for you newfags and "oldfags" to think about.
I've been from the very beginning. Lurked until 2005. Never watched Haruhi and don't intend to.
I watched it at 13. You didn't need to visit Anon Babble. You just needed to know how torrents worked.
Other anime discussion sites existed
I am not a true oldfag. But I do see tons of people my age who only started watching after AoT, who think they can gatekeep anime.
As in. If you're around 32 like I am...and didn't even watch fansubs, what are you doing pretending like you're a vet?
Did they fuck with the generation cutoffs again because the marketing agencies had a bad quarter and now they want to pretend gen alpha has disposable income and isn't still in disposable diapers?
then kys desu
NTA but you're posting on the Anon Babblenime board of the website 4channel.organizations, a mongolian basket weaving workers association website. Think before you post on this forsaken place.
ou didn't use bit torrent to pirate the series in 2006?
ogs watched it on subs in youtube divided in 14 parts per episode at 240p
faggot
I spent the 00s being a 90sfag so I missed out on a lot of them. Now I’m nostalgic for I time I scoffed at haha. School Rumble was good, maybe I’ll pick up Haruhi.
I'd say the first season, watched in Kyon order, still holds up great. But Endless Eight completely killed all the enthusiasm for the show, which a great movie that came later could not revive.
Oldfags what's the appeal of this show I don't get it
I only watched it in mid 2021, mostly because of one anon. Now I'm awaiting from a shipment from Japan with Haruhi music.
newfags don't need to spend the first couple weeks of each season deciding which fansub group to user for which show
grim
nope, ogs downloaded anime on KaZaA.
Only autists did this. Sometimes. You just take what is the most convenient lol.
they'd all show up on nyaa at around the same time
I don't recall nyaa in 2006. Heck even as late as 2009 I remember Tokyo tosho...
haruhi and lucky star were shows I knew about since at least around 2010 and just never bothered to watch until a couple years ago.
haruhi and lucky star were shows I knew about since at least around 2010
go away
Gatekeeping based on a time period doesn’t work that well. Someone could have started watching anime in 2010 and his favorite shows could be classic stuff from the 70s, 90s and 00s while other people that started watching anime way earlier could have garbage taste. It’s all relative. If you want to discuss Haruhi just do it.
It's actually better to watch it later, you really don't want to experience that endless eight episode by episode, or the wait not knowing when it was going to end or continue.
I think there is a good reason why older shows can remain bona fide classics (cowboy bebop, NGE, etc) while Haruhi has kind of quietly left the conversation.
There are some classic from around Haruhi's time that are still well known and beloved like Gurren Lagann.
Now this is the true distinction between oldfag and newfag or whatever the fuck this thread is supposed to be about.
I will never forgive the people who boast skipping Endless Eight.
Endless 8 for 8 weeks straight is a memory I treasure.
not knowing when it was going to end
A lot of us had been telling you since episode 3, you just kept refusing to accept it.
Only mentions the time that the anime came out
RIP the original LN readers from 2003-2004
I watched it on DVD in 2007 or something. I did watch Lucky Star as it aired. I was in middle school.
I used to stream it from megaupload around 2008 before I learned of Anon Babble. Do I get a cool badge
it will be relevant in any era as long as humans question their place in the universe
Almost no western weeb read light novels back then unless they were an old fart and they certainly didn't use Anon Babble. If you read light novels at that time when translation apps and such were impossible to get by, it meant you already possessed JLPT level 1 and had good enough language to not need subtitles for anything and could just work through those light novels like a breeze. Anon Babble maybe has 20% of its userbase at any given point who can actually speak or let alone read in Japanese. Its simpler to speak than read.
I don't watch shit, anon.
I did but I dropped it on first episode like anyone with taste. Must have been the first time I realized Anon Babble's "classics" could be complete trash aimed at sad horny boys and thus completely irrelevant to me.
.png
best image format out of nowhere
Yep, do you have a problem with that?
You didn't consult the guide. You could've saved some space on Jackie Anon Babble's servers by using .jpg.
I much prefer so called "election tourists" than the tumblr filth that joined this board from 2011 to 2016 and now acts like they’re oldfags.
guide is .png
contains picture it advocates should not be saved as .png
HOW IRONIC
I'm joking, don't sperg out
I never used the other site back then, I certainly didn't use the lefty site either back then. Both cancer. Anon Babble's cool. I don't need bunch of loony bin hags and epstein pedos telling me what to think as they cum into their socks and pee into their drawers.
What you posted was not vector art, transparent, or has large blocks of solid color, retard-kun. It actually says that "lots of color" should be used as .jpg.
im a zoomer and i was playing around with bionicles and half life at the time. only got into anime in middle school in 2010s. am i excused?
When Haruhi came out I refused to watch shows until they were finished.
I still watched every episode of endless 8
only got into anime in middle school in 2010s.
Me 2.
Ok, now actually read the whole post, including the spoiler, and actively try to understand what it says instead of going on vibes.
I haven't watched Haruhi because I lost interest in anime by the time it aired.
So you regained it or why are you here?
First season was interesting and had a good set up for a deeper series that the movie nailed. The second season killed any and all hype, instead of getting reasonably paced arcs compressed into their best parts we got a waste of a season with fucking endless 8 and the insipid festival film making which single handedly killed all inertia the series had so hard that not even the excellent movie was able to rekindle it. Then they shit out that bait and switch totally uninspired Yuki romcom series and killed any future anime adaptions forever.
That was all for the best though. The story dropped off hard in the novels/manga and there is no way to make the story coherent or satisfying going forward.
The story is interesting but only if you're really into the scifi religious meta thing that haruhi has.
The LN are all about haruhi losing her power, other characters trying to steal her powers, other scfi shit in between.. Etc.
Most people didn't watch haruhi for that only for the SoL.
No, still hoping to regain it though. Life feels pretty empty without it.
Still have a bunch of pre-2000 stuff in my backlog to go through, but very little motivation (and free time desu) to pick it up. I don't remember what the last series I watched was, might have been Macross Delta (Macross is always good, except when it isn't (Delta wasn't really)).
Then why are you here? It feels pretty weird to be on a board about a thing that you haven't been interested in 2 decades. After 20 years every sane human being would move on.
Yeah i would say that the difference between the anime and ln is actually pretty massive
You get a tiny bit of the scfi vaguely in the anime, whereas the LN ramp it up to the max
Like I said, still hoping that something will rekindle the spark.
There are still threads about series I did watch and like.
More importantly there are still Asukafags who have not seen the light.
Also Anon Babble is the last board that still feels a bit like Anon Babble back when I started browsing it.
It's not my main or daily board any more, but it always feels good to check back in.
I was 4 in 2006.
Like I said, still hoping that something will rekindle the spark.
It doesn't work like that. Things won't change after 20 fucking years. I genuinely think you are interesting case. I don't think I've ever met someone like this before.
More importantly there are still Asukafags who have not seen the light.
Asukafags probably avoid most NGE threads nowadays considering the ip-hopper spammers.
Also Anon Babble is the last board that still feels a bit like Anon Babble back when I started browsing it.
Maybe compared to other media boards but it's in a pretty bad place.
not writing your first googoo gaga on Anon Babble
That's not an excuse, faggot.
