Jinshi-centric episode

Jinshi-centric episode

lots of frantic Kusuriyaposting for the rest of the week

vaguely yurishit SoL with no Jinshi in sight to open the new cour

pathetic lack of even disingenuous Maomao spam

Apologize to Ka Zuigetsu, Heir-in-Hiding of the Empire of Not-China and wielder of the Big Frog Spear.

astroturfed chink garbage

Jinshi is a literal who.
He's just our placeholder to fuck Maomao.

Maomao is canonically asexual, and in the most blatantly shoe-horned way possible, too and anyone who disagrees to the slightest extent is 100% autistic.

It's true the anime actually trended in Japan when the last two Jinshi-centric episodes came out. Meanwhile this new episode came with new OP/ED and it didn't trend.
He is the most popular supporting character in the cast.

There's just nothing much happening this episode, it's just setting up the next arc with all the side characters we already know

supporting character

He's the male lead of this totally not shoujo.

He's a supporting character. Even in the anime there were episodes he didn't even appear in and some he only made a cameo.
Maomao is the only main character. The author said it's the story from Maomao's POV and not an ensemble cast.
Later when more new characters get added he appears even less.

Jinshi is an accidental deuteragonist that got too popular for his frog breaches. Author can't completely write him off, but doesn't want to write about him more than she has to to keep selling books.

Yes anon, that's exactly why he's popular.

Shisui and Yinghua > All

I'm willing to bet some people just didn't even realize there was an eppy this week
Plus last eppy was the adaption of a long awaited hyped and meme'd on moment

It's more likely that this was just a slow episode coupled with the OP and ED being a complete downgrade from their very hype predecessors. Not a lot to get excited about this last episode.

I enjoyed the latest ep but it's just not the kind that gets people talking. It’s feels filler-ish just like the ghost story episode from last cour.

the faggot is malding

The frog scene was meant to be a funny gag moment, that's why it's so good. I really hate the dummies that hyped it up as romantic scene and got all the wrong people into the series expecting to be some shoujo romance.

Why you blogposting bruh?

she drains jinshi's balls with constant sex to the point he's exhausted once they start banging in the lns

Someone should've told the anime staff that.

Maomao is so obviously attracted to Jinshi physically. She literally cannot shut up about his looks and now his frog. The only reason she rejected his advance was because she didn't want to be involved in trouble.

This week's episode was much better than the forced "romantic" episode last week.

Not according to popular consensus.

Reminder that her brief stint in researching eunuch penis regrowth treatments came after one of her musings of what a waste of a man Jinshi's supposed castration was.

Where's the promised rape

why is it so common for the authors to hate on supporting characters that accidently got more popular than expected?

Even in the anime it's still obviously meant to be funny. They even put the clown music as bgm in that scene.

Exactly people suddenly forget that tsundere exist when it comes to Maomao.

because then editors make them put those characters in more and more

When will Jinshi kiss Maomao

When will Jinshi say Maomao?

I might be misinterpreting it, but it seems to me like she's fully aware that she's no less vulnerable to his charm than anyone else, which would explain why she tends to be so averse towards him instead of just indifferent.

They censored Lishu getting her pubes removed....

Looks like the opposite of the Inept Villainess series, where nobody cares for the official male lead (tm) and even the popular male characters' popularity pales next to Keigetsu being so beloved as Reirin's "heroine" to the point the author joked in an afterword "please don't forget this series has male characters too".

The new chapter in the manga ruined the snake scene, should have broke the tension like how the Novel explained it.

man I can't wait for that show

I mean, these are disposable novels that just get made up as they go along ( or it's more like they plan arc, like a manga the first 4 books are pretty self contained and then it's just "a new adventure" )

The author is a hack so not meaningfully integrating Jinshi into the Narrative arcs of the later books, it's generally agreed she should have written about something else. Locusts and Goks family isn't that engaging for so many novels.

Yeah but that is a problem why? It's already a blessing to have a popular character in your series at all. Genuinely I just don't get how a creator can hate on a character they made.

She's not for sale, Emperor Diddy.

Pretty sure this is the author's only popular work by far so she has to keep milking it to make a living.
For some reasons it sells really well, already at 40+ millions and will no doubt become the best selling LN series ever soon.

True, but I'd filler the girls if you know what I mean

(I AM IMPLYING THAT I DESIRE TO HAVE SEX WITH AND EJACULATE INSIDE OF THE GIRLS IN THE SHOW; INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO- XIAOLAN, MAOMAO, SHISHU, ANY OF THE CONSORTS, AND OF THE COURTESANS, AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST THE RECENTLY INTRODUCED TRIPPLET-U'S (AT THE SAME TIME))

What isn't for sale shall be stolen. Please reconsider for both of our best interests

This is giving me flashbacks of Goblin Slayer past Erufu's sister's marriage book.

If you already have an idea for a story without that character, trying to force them in is difficult to do and can hurt the actual quality of the story for fanservice.

I don't think she has so much of an excuse because these are made up as they go, it's not like the whole story was planned from the start like some authors that write real novels do.

Your Majesty, do you want our most bodacious concubines instead..? Why don't you have a long, hard look at their fully formed adult womanhood in your private quarters..? Surely that will get your mind off buying my loli...

I don't think she has so much of an excuse because these are made up as they go, it's not like the whole story was planned from the start like some authors that write real novels do.

Exactly. Manga/LN are not planned that far ahead so there's no excuse. It's probably something to do with the author's ego. She reminds me of Gege

Season 3 episode 12 exactly if they follow the same pace of the current anime.
I'm not sure if we'll get another season though.

We are never getting a season 3.

Honestly, best move for this series with so many novels is to release OVA / movie adaptations of the most important parts. They really need to trim the fat and it's more palatable to viewers o do this as a movie / OVA.

Ruined my perfect baby with ugly whore makeup

I've recently mused about that, actually. This series doesn't lend itself very well to the episodic nature of the anime. A lot of episodes end up feeling very filler-ish, and then there's one or two episodes that suddenly wrap everything up.

Yeah in the recent interview the author mentioned this:

Before the story got picked up by Hero Bunko, she planned to end it with LN Vol. 4 (everything that happened before and was foreshadowed, leads up to that Volume).

From the start, I thought it would be great if they could make the first four volumes into an anime, so I'm very grateful that it has continued this far.

She seems content with S2 being the end of the anime.
I hope we will get occasional movies here and there to keep the series alive though.

Because it was the mid season finale anon...

This is why the pacing feels either too fast or too sluggish depending on the episodes.

Makes sense and it's clear to see. 4LN is the equivalent page count to 1 Epic novel ( think Moby dick or something)

The first 4 novels wrap up a full story, even if I feel the climax is rushed and there are obvious loose ends to character plots that would be picked up or dropped in later novels.

Second half of this season going to be peak

Does this woman know a thing about what kind of characters get obsessed over in anime? Because she should've known Jinshi was going to make whichever room he was being read about smell like sweat and rotting cod.

LISHU SEX

This doesn't look very chinese.

The frog is his true strength

true
shisui is fun

He's popular because the title is insanely popular.
It's fairly rare for the main love interest and deuteragonist to be this unpopular relative to the title itself, but it's also a function of, despite being the second most featured character, how rarely he's featured. In terms of screen time, if we normalize Māomāo at 100, then he's at 15 at best, and the third most featured character is at 5 or something. Usually the main love interest would be at 70 or something.

He is, but that doesn't say much as per the above. Not that I hate this structure though but the major issue is that he's barely relevant except as a love interest and they don't do that part very well because well, no one in this plot is really all that relevant except the protagonist. It's a one man show with a thousand recurring characters and all the characters only exist to allow the protagonist to Sherlock it up.

Watson was more interesting, he was actually relevant and had skills that complemented Sherlock and was an effective tard wrangler and that's exactly what the protagonist also needs as the yet another eccentric detective with no social graces.

How this show is literally one of the most popular anime airing right now

This is really not the first case that the love story is not the centre of the story and takes a massive backseat.

There are even stories where the main love interest of the protagonists isn't even the second most important character, that's actually really common in superhero stories. He's the second most important character in terms of screentime here though, and even then, he's a recurring character and nothing more, he doesn't appear for entire episodes or gets like one line or a small conversation.

Truth, but it goes far further than “not an ensemble”, if you look at Honey Lemon Soda, the story is from Uka's perspective and it's not an ensemble cast but Kai gets like what, 70% of Uka's screen time? This love interest gets 15% or something, probably less, and he's still the second most important character.

This is a one man show with recurring characters.

Because writing about a character one doesn't like isn't fun. The writer also obviously doesn't want it to become too much of a romance story, isn't all that interested in writing that, and consequently bad at it.

We must be watching different animes.

0 hairs from this week on.

Anon, there are entire episodes in which he didn't appear at all.

Where is expand-anon.
Duty calls.

Anon Babble is strangely delusional about Jinshi's role in the series. I believed what the LNfags said back when it was just the manga threads but at this point it's pretty clear the anime is treating Jinshi as the main love interest. Maybe that's not what Natsu Hyuga wants to do with him, in which case she should've told the director.

isn'ta director like a turbo editor. he can choose the focus

If you read the source material then you'd understand. The later novels won't adapt well unless they make massive changes and trim down the fat.

Jinshi as the main love interest.

Who's arguing that he's not though? Not like there was ever any other LI for Maomao in the story. It's not a romance series so being a LI doesn't guarantee him screentime, simple as that.

it's pretty clear the anime is treating Jinshi as the main love interest

I agree and I also think that it's not done well at all

The series and its barely-there romance has its own appeal and audience. It's way more popular than any shoujo for a reason.

2 or 3 out of 30+, and half the EDs were all about him tearfully pining for Maomao. That's like saying Tuxedo Mask isn't the main love interest in Sailor Moon because he gets much less screentime than Usagi and her girl friends.

Shisui's paizuri...

She's so perfect bro

We're in the part of the story where he's most relevant and even then he doesn't have much screentime. Maomao is the only main. After this arc you'll only get a glimpse of him once in a while.

Tuxedo Mask

also supporting character

Hi Anon, let's get to work!

And Tessa is a supporting character in Full Metal Panic.

She also has a semi-popular shoujo adaptation in Hana to Yume and other two LNs adaptation one in Monthly shonen magazine and the other in a minor mag.
It's not like she only writes Kusuriya, but it's extremely popular, so more LNs are written, she's also less passionate than in LN 5/6 because the respective WN arcs were heavily edited by the editor(too lacking in romance) while she tried to make their relationship more natural, so now she basically writes the main plot in the WN and adds filler romance(often with Jinshi acting very OOC) in the LN.

Jinshi is the only LI, but this doesn't stop the author from putting him in a office for a whole arc(appearing in two chapters of the novel), while the only male characters around Maomao are fucking Basen(with his own love story) and her cousins.

Tried to watch the first season because Maomao is top cute, but Jinshi is insufferable and ruins any enjoyment every time he appears.
Should I still give it a go? Does it get any better in this aspect?

if you can stomach him every third episode or so. there are stretches of SoL action where he's hidden away. he's mostly there to dispatch her and talk it over with whoever needs her.

Poor Basen, he's almost as bullied as Lishu.
I actually like Chinese Hulk

Not "down to business"?

Maomao is a anal and blowjob whore who will do it with anyone, don't listen to her lies.

Would she like to leave hair in some places to appear more mature?

I don't think anyone ever argued that he's not the main love interest.
Just that he's not used much for a main love interest and that indeed he probably has only 15% of the protagonist's screen time.

That isn't necessarily bad and a lot of titles have the romance only as a side plot. The issue is more so that he has no other function and that the romance is pure ship tease.

Again, have you ever seen a single person who claimed he wasn't the main love interest?

I said he had 15% of the screen time of the main character. Like what exactly do you think I'm saying that you're arguing against here?

Truth, also, in that order right after each other.
Loves arse2mouth finish.

Like what exactly do you think I'm saying that you're arguing against here?

You're making a meandering and incoherent argument against Jinshi being a deuteragonist based on screentime and overlooking his importance to the plot and relevance in Maomao's current life at the Rear Palace. I'm showing you nothing about his presentation in the anime is the treatment given to a side character. In case you haven't noticed, the entirety of the overarching arc is about killing Jinshi.

Anal

She has no ass though.

He gets better by like book 4-5 IIRC

she would poison your dick
