Even when it's decent quality, it still sticks out like a sore thumb, and you simply tolerate its inclusion rather than enjoy it. On the other hand, Girls Band Cry showed that you can make CG expressive and enjoyable if you build the show around it rather than using it cover up your animators' weaknesses.
I am interested, however, to see how AI animation might take a more prominent role in anime as it becomes more sophisticated. It's soulless and will probably still be noticeable, but it may not be as visually offensive as CG.

We are finally able to have an enjoyable work completely done in CG that's still emotive.
