Does Muv-Luv have a future?
Does Muv-Luv have a future?
At this point it'd be better if it didn't
the bitter truth...
Yes we need more zombie franchise endless ambling forward.
fortnite collab
I wonder if it's even going to have a legacy. Visual novels were such a niche medium to begin with, it's hard to imagine anyone still caring about them 30 years from now. I suppose some like Steins;Gate, Clannad and Higurashi might endure thanks to the popularity boost from their respective adaptations. Umineko will endure even despite the bungled abortive adaptation just by force of its excellence alone. But Muv-Luv? I think we'll live to see it slide into irrelevance. Turns out that it was a much less timelese tale compared to those others, since it leans too much on referencing 90's and 00's anime culture which is itself increasingly forgotten and irrelevant.
Alternative is pretty monumental, so I think it will have at least some legacy.
just by force of its excellence alone
lol
The continuous blunders of the franchise since it was sold have been pretty funny at least.
No, and it doesn't need one. It ended, it's over, be happy it happened.
Turns out that it was a much less timelese tale compared to those others
lol sure
Does Macross have a future?
Does Nanoha have a future?
Yes
Yes
Nope and the dev's desperate attempt to cater to a larger audience by censoring the steam releases amounted to nothing.
Macross
IT will live as long as they can make songs to sell.
Nanoha
A new project was announced a few weeks ago, whether it is successful or not will depend on how lewd or yuri it will be.
by censoring the steam releases
They're actually less censored than the original Standard Editions (the 15+ versions) which the console versions were based on.
it was owari da after they deleted nipples.
I can't be arsed to check but I'mù pretty sure the console releases still had the nipple bumps.
By the way, I'm OP and I love Muv-luv (and the VNs mentioned) and I made the thread because, man Muv-Luv is mismanaged.
I just want more of the girls in erotic tight bodysuits, is that too much to ask?
ZSS is still alive today despite big N's effort to make it less lewd and uglify Samus.
The last relevant entry was alternative. Its been so long that the series probably faded from people's memories for their upcoming entry to actually matter
they should've developed that sequel 10 years ago or maybe even 5 years ago
They didn't.
Its not getting a new season for awhile, but in the 90s it would be 24 episodes in a row, with only 50% of them being filler episodes
The rights holder (Anchor) just created a new entity (aNTIQ) to resell R18 versions of Age's games in Japan, which while not a bad thing on its own is probably a signal that Anchor is giving up on trying to meaningfully expand the franchise considering their failure after failure at this point.
I'll never understand why you'd buy a VN series if you don't intend to make VNs.
Because they saw it as a way to launch a profitable multi-media franchise. It crashed and burned of course, but their ideal was something like Key is, with a profitable gacha, still making VNs, and working on other multi-media franchises as the market allows.
still making VNs
So about that.
I feel like they clearly wanted their own Fate without understanding anything.
The japs have been burned by Muvluv scammers once too many times. So...nah, outlook is doubtful. Like, it has as much future as Aquarion.
They're supposedly working on an Alternative sequel, right?
What? You might not notice but they have 1-2 every year.
lol
lmao
Huh?
All their attempts to enter a new market with the franchise were retarded. New designs, new OCs introduced into the existing series, and not finishing any adaptations.
I mean Key
The Sandbox
a fucking NFT game
They are getting desperate aren't they?
Is this the most mismanaged franchise in Japanese history? Only other contender I can think of is Kemono Friends
Oh.
"Getting?"
No, please no.
Raildex has pretty retarded managers as well, but they still manage to greenlight new anime adaptations somehow.
Accelerator will come punch you if you don't approve raildex adaptations
KF is in a league of its own, all these years later it still feels unreal the way Kadokawa crashed and burned it in record time. ML's mismanagement is tame by comparison. Many stupid decisions were made over the years, but frankly there is no guarantee ML would have become much more successful even if the owners had played all their cards right. Keep in mind that age had always struggled financially, even all the way back when Alternative was in development, so ML has always been in a rather precarious position. The fact that Alternative got finished at all might be a small miracle in its own right. KF on the other hand is the poster child of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, it really doesn't get more retarded than that.
They were selling NFTs of the fucking anime adaptation too.
