Holy shit this might actually be THE best season ever? from actually good to entertaining slops, there’s so many anime to watch!

Let’s start from the most impactful impression

Gundam GFuarks

Possibly one of THE worst Gundam ever made. Garbage mech and character design. They tried to appeal to Zoomers/Alphas with the “Clan Battle’ stuff, but tried to pander to oldfags at the same time by making it an UC entry with bunch of unexplained UC jargons, UC-style pretentious writing and dedicated an entire episode for CHAR filler. What the fuck were they thinking? They tried to make this anime seems serious by drawing sakuga battle with le epic BGM during fights where Machu struggled, but I can’t feel it. There’s no tension, no stake, no nothing because everything, especially the very concept of illegal Clan Battle (livestreamed everywhere LOL) is simply retarded. At least Witch from Mercury got many things that made the series INTERESTING, like all the yuribait, shipbait, actual good mech design and DRAMA. GQux got nothing except its retarded title.

Danjo no Yuujou wa Seiritsu suru

Holy fuck the FemMC (Blue) must be THE most obnoxious 3DPD-coded piece of shit bitch I’ve ever seen. And she’s gonna win. Unbelievable. Give me Makeine S2 already to restore Blue’s reputation!

Hibi wa Sugiredo Umashi

One of the best anime this season, but the title sooooooooo bad and un-catchy. A must watch for SoL fan and food fan as it seems to be the spiritual successor to Koufuku Graffiti. It’s nice that we got a good PA Works anime after the 3 garbage they made in the previous season

Rock Lady

High class ladies doing peasant activity. Interesting premise, just like GGWP manga. But that’s all it has. The story telling is very boring and repetitive. Just like GGWP. Ep1-3 were basically telling the same story that they might as well be 1 episode. Dunno if this will ever get good.

Aru Majo ga Shinu Made

The premise and story are average, not interesting at all. But damn the MC is absolutely carrying the anime with her genki dorkish personality and blatant bisexualism.

Zatsu Tabi

Yuru Camp lite, with slightly more boring characters with slightly less good chemistry with each other. It’s still enjoyable and the MC’s naturally messy hair is pure sex.

Mono

Another Yuru Camp lite, from the actual author this time. Shame about the godawful 4kids burgerized subtitle. Overall, it has better everythign than Zatsu Tabi

Takamine-san, Yandere Elf, Makina-san

We got THREE nudity anime in 1 season holy shit. Elf is awful, but Makina and Takamina got some top-tier boobs.

Dark Healer Shoelacer

SSS is the best by far thanks to its comedic nature, but I’m afraid it’s about to go unironic serious garbage. Saint is starting to get boring, despite the cute Yumiela Dorkness-like MC. Healer is just another serious garbage.

Uma Musume

It’s simply a good shonen sports anime. The manga eventually went into shit, but that’s still far away.

Intergalactic Evil Lord

Ep1 was amazingly impactful, I thought MC was actually gonna be evil after experiencing such godawful women moment from his wife AND daughter (not his) aaaaaaaand it became a generic isekai with “evil” MC by episode 2 LOL

Katainaka Ossan

Native isekai with interesting premise, but the MC is ruining it. He’s supposed to be an experienced sword master in his 40s but he’s acting like a typical humble beta noiser. And of course he’s an inexperienced virgin

YAIBA

It’s nice that this old manga’s getting a high production quality full adaptation. Shame that all the casual pervert act got censored but what did you expect from 2025 japan? They’re spineless and hopeless. Not many people actually know YAIBA so I’ll simply enjoy this anime in silence

Lazarus

It was ok until episode 3 they started shoehorning T-word and Black victim mentality preaching in my face. Hard drop. Typical American funded garbage. UTTER WOKE NONSENSE.

BORING. S1 was great because of Osanai and Jogoro’s chemistry (+Kengo), but we have none of that here. I’m really sick of the journalist fuckboy.

I’m currently watching 18 anime and I might drop 5-6 depending on future development. That’s still a lot! What a great season!

Agreed on Gundam. I really want to care about it but nothing hooked me so far. I wonder who is it made for, I certanily had the feel that I'm not the target audience. I've seen every Gundam and it's the first one which invoked such opinion in me. Bizarre.

It seems to be decently popular on Anon Babble and very popular in Japan for some reason. I think it's because of the forced "Machu got surprisingly big boobs" meme. I really don't get the appeal.

zatu tabi: okay, nice.. it's SOL and I guess the nintendo narrator is dope. Better than mono.

kanpeki seijo blabla: barely any animation but the story is nice and reminds me of the beginning of shield hero s1. don't ask me why.

aru majo ga sinu made: a nice anime to watch and that OP gives me zelda breath of the wild vibes, you get why.

YAIBA: thank you wit studio, nothing else needs to be said

katainaka ossan: nice fantasy, I like how an old guy got a harem all for himself

kowloon: I've heard that the first episode adapts an entire manga volume, I don't know how it is now but it turns me off.

shoushimin: somehow makes thinking interesting again, like hyouka. I like that osanai is the villain here, challenging our kobato.

maebashi witches: I only liked how the black haired girl went like "oooh I hate fat people". if only it weren't for her being fat too in the past.

Gundam gquuuux: I don't like it, a gundam show shouldn't be just 1 cour. It should be like pokemon and go on for who knows how many episodes.

summer pockets: jun maeda not writing the scenario is a big no no. This is just people at key imitating his writing and style and everything. It's just not the same.

kanojo no yuujou wa seiritu suru: horribly mid, started off good but I just am not interested in a girl being so jealous and trying so hard for the MC to recognize her jealousy for a whole episode. Let the other girl have fun too, what is this?

Assuming the show ends up reaching to the end of the Tamamo Cross arc and doesn't fuck up anything along the way (like cutting out anything or having QUALITY animation), then it'll easily be AOTD material.
It's gonna blow everything else out of the water.
That, combined with Uma Musume global possibly going live around June, means that 2025 will be the year of the Umachads.

There is so much entertainment that you wouldnt be able to experience it all in several lifetimes, at a certain point in life you should have already identified what you enjoy and pursue that. This doesnt mean that you completely close yourself off from trying out different things but your tastes become fully formed and you mostly stick to your lanes. Even if you only dedicated yourself to Japanese animation you wouldnt be able to watch every new show coming out let alone searching for those hidden gems, you have to pick and choose and why would you do it on any other basis than that sense that tells you "oh, I should like this"?

As a SoL watcher, you're right about Hibimeshi. It's the purest SoL of this season. I wouldn't call it the spiritual successor to Koufuku Graffiti though because I'm getting more NNB vibes from it.

Regarding Zatsu Tabi, I feel like a lot of people are missing the point of it. Yes, the side characters are not particularly interesting, but the point of it is that it's essentially a Japanese travel show in anime form. If you've seen one, you'd know it straightaway. Impromptu overnight trips without pre-planned accommodation are a staple in those shows. If you love those shows, you'll love Zatsu Tabi, because the characters are meant to act like TV hosts rather than characters in a story.

Regarding the comparisons to Yuru Camp, they're inevitable, but at least Zatsu Tabi is honest about it from the get-go. Yuru Camp has been getting even more touristy lately while still pretending to be about high school girls camping.

Filtering stuff out isn't rocket science. You just need to identify some red flags and green flags.

Imbalanced male-to-female ratio and how much it corresponds to MC's gender and how characters with same gender as MC are being treated in the story are a potential red flag

Most characters being extra dumb to make average-IQ character look smart is a red flag unless there's a convincing explanation that's plausible in the given setting

Unambiguous lore contradictions (more commonly known as ""plot holes"") are almost always a red flag, but it's sometimes possible that it's not a mistake and that it's meant to be checkhov's gun for later so don't judge on that too early

Something happening and you thinking something very specific that is then pointed out almost identically by a character is often a green flag as it shows that the author seems to understand the audience's line of thinking at least partially

Different arcs having a distinct feeling each tends to be a green flag
