How do I watch anything else after this? I feel like I've experienced the peak of what this genre of media has to offer.

Strictly speaking Mushishi's writing is higher quality for travel stories with depth. Though it's not as enjoyable and fun, and the philosophy isn't as goofy.
You got a peak reverse trap. All else is irrelevant.
This
You're going to have to be more specific about what you enjoyed about it and also not make a rec thread. It's a fine anime but it's mired in the trope-y symbolism of the late 90s and early 00s which I quite frankly find tiring at this point. It also doesnt have especially exception animation, art, or music. Would Kino even say one anime is better than another or just see it as an illusion of duality? Probably the latter.
I am convinced the people who like crap like this can't even understand what they're watching.
Just watch more episodic anime
flat tomboy... erotic...
I'm convinced you're a drooling contrarian retard and you should be shot
So that's a no, got it. It's just dumb stoner anime like lain and haibane renmei and texhnolyze.
Stop using words you don't even understand, retard.
And I'm convinced if you like Dragon Ball you're a retarded Mexican.
This post reeks of insecurity
contrarian.
Nta but its just an autistic retard talking to her motorcycle about a really dumb edgy version of buddhism. How do you even describe a show like this? Meditative? But what does that even mean? How it this different from a calming or healing anime? Is the difference that it's not funny or insightful? This is your chance to actually defend what you have purported as the greatest anime of all time. Surely there is a lot you want to say about it.
And a retarded one at that
The fuck does drugs have to do with anything.
There are quite a lot of LNs, manga, and anime with this exact same premise. Assuming this was your first one given how stupid this thread is, so you should just go experience more than literally just one entry in the genre.
It's pretty clearly anime that stoners like
doood its just le edgy buddhism
are you retarded
if you liked kino no tabi definitely check out mushishi, as well as any yoshitoshi abe show like those mentioned here picrel is my chart lol not to make this a rec thread or anything
are you retarded
Dude the entire show has a fake scan line filter for NO reason. This anime is for idiots.
protagonist name is kino
Prophet
I found Kino through my Amazon Prime subscription in like 2011 or some shit. I thought they offered it free because it was trash. Ended up being one of my favorite shows ever.
life goes on, you just have to move on
So you have nothing to say about it. It's your favorite show and you have nothing to say about it.
One of the best aspects of this anime is the story. Each episode is a parable about the darker side of human nature, especially when it comes to being heartless and ignorant. These parables are based on scenarios that could actually exist in the real world and make the viewer think about their personal ethics as well as the ethics of others. Yet, despite the hard truths, there is an element of hope that comes from the anime's main character, Kino.
Kino lol
sounds like pseud garbage
Each episode is a parable about the darker side of human nature
Uh no its not, it's about the interconnected dualistic aspects of tathata which is also why the protagonist is adrogynous, not a "tomboy".
These parables are based on scenarios that could actually exist in the real world and make the viewer think about their personal ethics as well as the ethics of others.
Why is this useful to me if i don't interact with real people
Literally all of this is wrong
edgy buddhism is just normal buddhism
Isn't the whole point of the middle way is that it's not
i just don't care about your opinion since, if you already made the blunder of offering vain criticisms such as calling something pseud for it being introspective, and because you've mistakenly located in it a series of familiar concepts purely because they're familiar, if you've already done these things then you just categorically can't appreciate the show... kino no tabi isn't a philosophical thesis nor the statement of some religious creed, it isn't textual at all it's subtextual, its resonances lie in the subtleties of thematic conveyance not some kind of conceptual or ideological agreement... we get it dude you read some books and now you're eager to analyze everything as relative to what you've read but that's a completely misguided and dishonest way to look at something like anime or any kind of art for that matter because art has a subjective essence, no matter what ideas get explicit attention the core of the work is always its effect on the viewer... so even if the anime had all these elements you attributed to it like the 'interconnected dualistic aspects of tathata' or whatever the fuck it wouldn't matter anyway because that's not an essential characteristic it's a mere textual detail...
Words words words
Meaningless soup
You typed all that out and still can't say a single thing about the show. These are the types of people pushing their opinions all day. Big yikes to be desu with you.
lol i know exactly what kind of mind you have because i've seen it a million times before... the strings of loose associations like 'interconnected dualistic aspects' meaning what, i know already, nothing... it's purely suggestive and unashamedly mystical... the aversion to the peculiars of language, always expressed in the same way almost verbatim, always 'words words words' or something like that... it doesn't help that you're posting the tranniest of all tranimes while saying this stuff... listen bro i know you're probably young so i won't harp on you but sometimes you're just wrong about stuff and that's ok
Notice how this one excitedly chased after the low hanging fruit because he's a dunning kruger moron looking for an easy victory. He's so desperate to feel validated for his moronic behavior.
what kind of nonsense i am reading
Don’t reply to avatarfag.
what's nonsensical about it?
stop using mahiro as your avatar you fucking retarded cringe tranny
and you wonder why everyone hates this show
Now begins the second stage of desperate cope.
everything?
you can't read?
no im illitera-
Fuck off
You were never going to like the show because you don't belong here and you're some Anon Babble moron. You said the appeal of the Kino is thematic conveyance but quite frankly I don't see how garish arbitrary scan lines laid over poor quality animation, muted colors, and a shoestring budget soundtrack factor into that, but I'm sure you stood up and clapped after Kino swirled around in a cloud of red static while monologuing right after taking a hit of from your bong.
Ok, but would you fuck kino or not
No she has a penis
first of all that's a different poster, second why do you associate this anime in particular with stoners and weed lol... is it just because it's dreamlike lol? how can you think in such cartoonishly off the mark preconceptions about a fucking anime lol... ah yes kino no tabi the stoner anime...
Kinos Journey solely exists to be compared to Lain and see how everything could have gone wrong. Consider it a litmus test for bad taste.
i clapped
yes
but they're completely different shows... it makes no sense to compare unlike things like that... one isn't necessarily better than the other
They're thematically identical. People don't like to hear this, but a lot of these psychological anime from this time period are soulless copy pastes of each other and when you see enough they get really, really boring. They're considered stoner anime because of their focus on psychedelic surrealism with neutral and cool color undertones which only appeals to teens and people on drugs. It's like people that call every picture of a sunset or blue water at the beach "soulful". It's just shallow and stupid.
how are they thematically identical? lain is about the effects of rapid globalization and technological development in postwar japan, the intrusions of western conceptions of god etc. a lot more than that too but those are the real cultural roots of lain's themes.
the only thing the two anime have in common is ryutaro nakamura and the somewhat avant garde style of each show... what else is there? name something
Expect a somewhat decent thread
It's all shitty bait and avatarfagging
Shame
I wanted to talk about hypothetical "countries"
Especially since I recently got into Italo Calvino and it reminded me a lot about Kino
Blue Submarine No 6
Man, you just opened an old wound
I can't believe it's been more than 15 years, and I'm still fucking mad about that ending
Humanity literally dies, but it doesn't matter, because the shark throwing a thantrum it's what the plot decides to focus on instead
It's a nice experiment, and mixed media it's always amazing, but man, people really over rate it because of the fish waifus
The whale was a real bro however
how are they thematically identical
We're talking about "thematic conveyance" since the above poster wasn't interested in discussing the writing, and obviously all of these are slop without substance anyways, and in terms of "thematic conveyance" they all use the same color tones, art direction, and other various methods of cinematography. Like this whole anime has a literal blue tint scan line filter lazily slapped on top of it to appear more moody. It's one of the stupidest things I have ever seen. I have to wonder if idiots would start enjoying anime again if they just starting watching it while wearing sunglasses. Like look at the intro to NinKoro where SHAFT just applied blue color tones to choppy animation with thick lines to look old as an ironic joke, I imagine that's all it takes for some people.
This is high tier autism.
just buy a bike now
How is it autism to notice the entire anime has a CRT filter for no reason? This was extremely controversial when it released. Do retards just accept this now? And obviously this is the appeal for people, there are plenty of moody travel manga/anime, for example Girls Last Tour, but what draws people to Kino's Journey is the 00s surrealist aesthetic and vapid pseudo-philosophical underpinnings.
I enjoyed kino because I love driving. Several times I roamed the american countryside between jobs. I felt so free.
i think it looks nice.
feel free to respond with an essay!
Apply a dark blue filter with scan lines to your image and compare it to any random scene in kino no tabi
you can do better than this lol
Ok so it has a filter
So what?
What's the problem here?
What's the problem here?
It's pretty stupid that they made a hideous anime and applied a "soul" filter to it, and then 20 years later underage retards praise this as good art direction.
