Boku No Hero Academia: Vigilantes/Illegals Episode 2

Second Episode is up of the Hauler's adventures.

Koichi.png - 1920x1080, 2.45M

thanks for the thread

Why is this so dead? Subs are out and everything.

brick.png - 1920x1080, 2.29M

Nobody cares.

Because it's monday morning in america at the moment. People are tired and busy with school or work. They won't be free to actually watch the episode for a while yet. Even in Europe people are just barely getting off work. While in Australia it's the middle of the night, and most people are asleep.

The fuck. How is this thread so dead? Where are the MHA fans?

Just watched the new episode. I feel like we are going a bit too fast through the first few chapters of the manga. But I guess it's for the best, the show should start to get into the main plot starting next episode with the bees

OMG.png - 899x899, 75.63K

Let's slide

They are doing 1.5 chapters per episode so next episode will probably end with bees.

i guess there's the other pop*step thread syphoning the attention but not that much, last week was pretty slow at the beginning too. We should start posting Pop*step ass shots soon enough

Someone should make webm's of the commercial break intro/outro.

Black voud of censorship one scene

Blatant lingering upskirt 10 seconds later.

Make up your damn mind you schizos.

She is cute.

Okay, what was censored this time?

Whats the point of making anime of finished spinoff of finished series?

Why is this so much better than the main manga?

No Decuck

Koichi has a far more understandable starting point and a far more likeable personality than Deku
Knuckleduster is an amazing mentor type and simultaneously the potential of what a Quirkless Hero could be.
Pop Step beats Ochaco in every metric

far more likeable personality

hes literally almost the same from these first 2 episodes. gets his ass bullied and he apologies for stuff. at least with deku it makes more sense because he is disabled

Pop Step

the damsel in distress? she isnt even a fighter

Koichi is actually likeable and a real hero

Koichi's Quirk without specific training is nearly useless for combat as well, and Koichi doesn't act like a battered wife for most of the series.

isnt even a fighter

shonentard begone

Koichi is just a generally good person unlike Deku. Before he figures out shit like wallclimbing we got this episode he went around helping drunks get to the train station, picking up litter, and help people find lost objects and after gaining power he still spends his spare time doing all that shit.

#corruption
#mindbreak
#darkskin

I just realized we rarely see aizawa fight in the main manga

Of course we do BECAUSE HE CONSTANTLY JOBS HARD

Aizawa was sidelined so hard in the final act. He didn't do shit in the final war.

someone post the poppsteppu signature

That didn't do shit. Shigaraki fucked the heroes up and killed Bakugo.

Bakugo didn't even die

And they already showed Six at the end of the first episode which was weird

Will we get to see them?
And will bee girl still do compensated dating with older men, unironically?
The tone of the story is mostly the same as the main series, but I wonder if some of this edgier stuff won't make it in

funny entrance

mpv-shot.jpg - 1920x1080, 199.28K

pop got stockings added into the design instead of flaunting her naked butt

rape line removed from Ep1

You know the three based perverts are gonna get scrubbed right out. Same with Knuckleduster's daughter whoring out and then killing people and then living in their apartments as the victums become decomposed beehives
Ivy deadlock (real)

I think it's for the best, random sexual assault is what unironically killed undead unluck, so I hope the edits help vigilantes avoid that fate

I don't see the point of a prequel, is not like the main series mention any event from before the series started, what did this lads even do?

Yeah how dare someone tell another story in the same setting.

it's not a prequel, it's a spin-off
it has little to do with the main story almost by definition

what did this lads even do

they cleaned up the neighborhood and resolved their personal stories in a satysfying way

087.jpg - 1080x1561, 602.32K

I feel like the anime has a younger target demographic than manga did, if it makes any sense
like the jokes and situations are more drawn out and overblown
honestly, I don't like the adaptation so far
it has a subtly different tone from the original

the direction is also pretty lackluster
and the animation varies between mediocre and ass
no really, that's the truth

a bit miffed they keep omitting quirk suppression as the root for villain and vigilante behaviour
I like the show but it's not overtaking the manga
looking forward to civilian beatdown next week

file.png - 1863x960, 1.73M

I hope they don't show up, last thing we need is a bunch of butthurt fujos shitting things up

So is she?

maybe

pop2.png - 537x867, 286.87K

I'm confused, so she can leap but she can't fall?

She can do a low gravity jump. She can't do it if she's already falling face-first into the ground at high speed.

she can jump high but it's useless in free fall
I guess she has some tolerance to landing on her feet from high but that fall exceeded it

ammo.png - 1067x1600, 925.34K

That didn't do shit

...it was literally the main reason why Shiggy didn't instaheal every time or instakill the heroes. Again why are you talking shit about a manga you never read?

Pop-step is so cute

I think she gets soft landings only on her powered jumps. Like the whole jump is floaty, but only if she powers it.

I'm so disapointed. I've scoured several boorus, pixiv, twitter and seemingly NOBODY drew Pop Step being stripped naked, having her makeup erased and humilated and exposed online by those thugs. Its so obvious that someone should draw it, the show gave the premise on a silver platter. I thought this series connection to Boku no Hero's popularity would guarantee that someone would draw it, but apparently not.

series connection to Boku no Hero's popularity

Nah, everyone is over BNHA. We're just 4 guys who liked the manga 5 years ago.

they skipped his inner monologue while falling down

Anons, I don't trust these guys anymore, they also removed koichi getting a ticket from a police officer last episode, their basically just adapting the action scenes while ignoring half of the themes of the story.

Knuckle Duster is really cool, I like how he just throws bricks at villains

this? It's not the worst thing to skip and the glide off the palm was better done visually

main story ending killed any interest in the brand

No yaoi doujins of Koichi either, sad!

after watching MHA, and I guess other shounen from that time, I kinda like how there was no inner dialogue, it makes Koichi less-Deku

A lot of koichi introspection seems cut out. Pacing demands I suppose.
I do dislike that they cut out a cop warning him for "illegal quirk usage" when he's sliding around. Because that's the kind of shit that made MLA happen

POP SEX

I just checked, it was from the first chapter the first episode skipped it and it was changed in the second one
Maybe it's current koichi vs future narrator koichi but I thought that was an important part because yeah, most people want to be a hero but realizing how dangerous it is was an important part of his story.

9 out of 10 villains are defeated by this neat trick.

If she jumps off of something, she can float down gently, but if she falls without activating her quirk, which she needs to jump off something to do, she falls like anyone else

Or guns. Or explosives. Sometimes a man's gotta lose his quirk to become gigabased

168.png - 1500x1125, 1.11M

Absolutely, but inner monologues have their place, actions speak louder than words but we kinda need to understand how our heroes/characters think and operate at the beginning of the story then we can remove them later because the reader/watcher already has an idea about what the characters will be thinking.

Why is she so useless? Literally does nothing but get caught by villains all the time

Spoiler alert but she's basically just the eyes in the sky for the team, she calls the cops and any hero agency that is near by because, what can she do? She just jumps higher than normal people and her quirk has no punch power to it.

She's not a fighter, she's mostly damsel in distress and recon

Where were these guys during the main MHA story anyway?

second episode has better animation than episode 1

Oh yeah, we're going places here.

Moved on ages ago, this series starts when Eraserhead is still a local hero nobody in his 20's.

Koichi and Pop were in America. Knuckleduster was around.

Five years before Deku even got afo, they are vigilantes ie illegals, one of them punches hard, the second one jumps around, and the last one is just wait I suppose it's worth your time.

Knuckleduster was around

Isn't it quite likely that he's dead from the long term effects of all his injuries?

Hold on I thought only koichi went, are you referring to the bonus panel where the were sitting together on a roof top? I assumed that was just a thanking message from the mangaka.

We don't see him die by the end of Vigilantes, so it can be assumed he's still alive and protecting Naruhata since Koichi's in America.

It's not implied but it's probably the most likely out come, pain killers cocktails can only take you so far.

In ep1 it felt like she got caught on purpose after she was freed the first time

Koichi was a pro in america. Pop moved with him. Based grandpa still punching thugs in alleways. Koichi "the skycrawler" shows up in mainline BNHA for one small panel in the aftermath of the whole war bullshit.

cameo.jpg - 1400x700, 507.46K

afaik it's canon that Pop visitied Koichi in America once she got out of the wheelchair but whether it was permanent or if she went back to Japan after is up in the air. I still believe in Makoto endgame.

Yeah the starting dynamic is
-The Muscle
-The Utility
-The Public Relations

You can see it in here with how their greatest strength is in community outreach, they're educating at-risk folks and establishing a local watchdog network. And that's all her, she's not cut out for actual hero work and will learn that lesson hard but that doesn't make her in any way useless.

Makoto scares me

(412).png - 1920x1080, 1.81M

we're getting more of the trio during the early period which is cool, many found the breakup to be too early

cover.png - 691x1080, 1.64M

I really appreciated the community aspect and the cat cafe was a nice addition because it shows how hard it is for people with mutation quirks to live, the story really benefited from the small scale.

It so doesn't matter. I want to see her bruised, crying, naked desperately trying to hide her face while they snap pictures

This in addition to the X-Men slander from the opening

I think I just found my new favorite mangaka.

The manga made the pop rescue seem accidental, like he wanted to catch her and didn't expect her to jump off him, and his panic afterward was more pronounced
The manga made it clear he intended for her to jump from him, and that he knew he'd have to improvise on the way down
Honestly I like the change

They made the the school into a bouncy house for the decay. Aizawa wasn't needed.

Looking at the manga it could probably be taken either way because its pretty vague who says "and leap" and it they never really talk about Pop leaping off of him.

Good episode. Our vigilantes are starting to acquire some notoriety.
The pacing looks fine to me but I haven't read the manga.

Not really, in the manga Koichi looks like he's trying to catch her and Pop jumping off of him is subverting that expectation, so I'm fine with this change, makes Koichi look less pathetic which makes sense since that's supposed to be his first actual hero moment.

Koichi's take off is superior to the slime villain rush bc it builds on the pre-established themes and character dynamics and also that Checkov's garbage pile is just mwwaach.
Slime villain is just Deku reacting before he can think it which is the foundation for that story's themes but i like it less that way.

saving the bully who told him to kys is not built on character dynamic

come on now

ok you're right, i forgot about that part, sorry. I just read vigs way more recently than MHA.To be fair that looks way worse in retrospect since he just keeps being his battered yaoi housewife for the entire 400 chappies.

Aizawa wasn't needed

It's a special kind of stupid to advocate hating the main manga when you haven't even read it. Really shows that Vigsfags are all hatetrannies

it's true that Deku's attitude toward him changing so slowly makes it worse but I only count the intros for both to be just

Wish we had a dedicated webm'er for all Pop related purposes

Nah nah nah, you got his name wrong. It's The Cruller!

Damn the presentation looks really nice actually. I was expecting them to phone it in ngl.
Since theyre doing 1.5 chapters per episode what are we projecting this season to be adapting. just up until the end of the queen bee arc?

the english jump app is acting like the new chapter is there for me to read, but doesn't actually have anything new listed so I can't clear it from my "continue reading" tab, reeeeee

Oh Cruller is an actual word, I thought they were just mispronouncing it. They’ve basically been calling him The Donut this whole time.

what? Aizawa fight alone an army of villain.

Is THIS why he made /beeeeeeees/ pop-step brown??? Lmao

001.jpg - 1335x2032, 487.07K

Yeah it's because he calls himself "The Crawler" in english and they are getting it wrong on purpose to mess with him.

donuts.png - 861x488, 408.2K

Probably Chapter 19 or 20 with a split cour announcement at the end to tease the concert.

Really liked the cute, slutty pink-haired gal, so imagine my surprise when trying to find more info about her I discovered she gets brainwashed into a villain, loses an eye, gets separated from the main character and doesn't ends up with him. I suddenly don't feel so good.

spoilers
a true auteur will manage to meaningfully insert his fetishes

you're a faggot go suck dick in reddit

it's not on purpose, most people legitimately think Cruller is his hero name
Crawler is hard to understand for nips
also the original Japanese has 苦労マン, which as far as I can tell has no relation to pastry

Or this one

02592174.jpg - 646x646, 45.8K

Why didn't Aizawa make Gigantomachia small?

presumably because big G can't turn off his bigness

so is his quirk pulling bricks out of his ass but he can only do it once a day?

Yes, but he has a gacha mechanic that lets him pull a bomb one time out of seven.

doesn't ends up with him.

She does.

Cruller, a jobber!
PopStep, a jobber!
Knuckleduster, a retard!

Knuckleduster, a real MOTHER FUCKING HERO!

Ftfy.

Really?

I also feel like they are sleeping on this, she only has like 5 pages on Pixiv and they're from 2017ish.

It was never confirmed, but it's obvious if you're not retarded.

I never watched MHA but I am following this here

I love the steppy popper

Wait so the manga of this is finished? How many volumes? Any chances that they'll adapt all of it?

New chapter leaks soon?

Any chances that they'll adapt all of it?

in 1 season? impossible

There are 126 chapter, it's a fun read, would recommend.

Any chances that they'll adapt all of it?

It's Bones adapting a finished manga, It'd be pretty silly to not finish it when there's nothing to shill in the first place.

No Deku, Bakugo, or Shoto. That's considered dead on arrival, unfortunately.

i stopped keeping up with hero academia but i really like this slippery dipshit in vigilantes so far

It's incredible how bad the main series sucks ass compared to this. Thanks for creating the setting, I guess?

Well, glad to know it. I may pick up the manga knowing it's finished.

It's 15 volumes

I liked it, the only thing that felt weird was they didn't seem to get that hurt from all the fights, i would actually like hospital chapters

what is the obsession with making beta bitch MC's? just give the guy a power thats cool and not dumb or lame how is it that hard?

Solo leveling thread is the next thread after this one, sir.

It's possible that it flops and remains as one of those one season unfinished adaptations. Kinokoinu was also a finished manga and the anime is only one season with no season two on sight.

The MCs real power is Flying except he cannot use it because he was spanked by his mom as a baby until he could only do the sliding thing he does now

I wasted all my time drawing today

Koichi having a lame power is the whole fucking point.

It's in the volume extra ending.

Not every story need sum ting wook oneshotting everything from the start, this guy learna both courage and power with time.

Oh, neat then.

Based.
Solo Leveling is dogshit for stupid retards, I hope they all stay quarantined off in their own little gay isekai genre and away from better people like me and you.

Sorry bro, I'm here and I like both
*slurps up your tasty anime*

what the hell the bonus chapter's set THAT early in the story? more kuin art is cool though. she's cool

I despise Solo leveling, mainly because I just genuinely don't think its quality level is deserving of the hype its gotten from normies.
That being said, I can admit that something shitty being popular doesn't harm me in any way, and there's no reason for me to always be a completely sour dick about it.
Vigilantes is also only good for the first half. Once the manga got popular they started tying it in to the main universe, it rapidly decayed and by the time it ended it sucked. Kind of like the main series, everything just goes to shit eventually.
I like where we are right now though.

MY FUARKING HERO
EVERY KAMEN RIDER STATUS: MOGGED

CRULLER.webm - 1920x1080, 1.26M

its not

simultaneously the potential of what a Quirkless Hero could be.

you mean a former pro hero with decades of hero experience? wow why didnt deku just do that

You have a point, but the will of doing what you can is what matters, to be fair I think vig was lucky because it has seen the criticism of the main series so they probably made the mc try to do good deeds before his big hero beginning so there's that at least.

pop step's outfit for one

he also had a quirk and could have been a hero if he didnt miss his chance. for all of dekus life they just treated him like a useless piece of shit.

you mean a former pro hero with decades of hero experience?

He also was left barely above a cripple and with PTSD.
Deku is a young chap with a ton of alleged "motivation" but never really tried until he got gifted the most important quirk of all time.

I concede on the quirk point but I don't really think koichi could've passed the hero exam, let's not forget that he was psychology stunned by his parents that he handicapped his powers for most of his life and only because of countless near death experiences he was able to level up and realize what he can actually do.

Koichi is a fucking chad. i remember when we had the story time people were calling him a gary stu because he was just that good

Also, anons, we seriously need to try avoiding talking about the main series, it derails most of the posts and it's just pointless after all.
Vigs has enough to discuss on its own.
For example one thing that left an impression on me was how brainwashed most of the people in the setting are, including koichi, everyone in the world are wired to just sit down and do nothing, because heroes will come at any moment and save the day, moments like these are numbered but they just show you how horrible is to live in MHA world.

"A hero is bound to show up"

no he started trying when all might told him he could be a hero. thats when he started trying to improve himself, someone actually telling him he could do it

so were those two guys just wolverine/jotaro and cyclops/josuke?

Yes, it was supposed to be a jab at how Logan and Scott can't fucking stop fighting with each other like little girls but the author kept them around because he found them fun.

I mean he wasn't sitting there doing nothing, he was just going full defensive trying to stall until a hero appeared so everyone could be saved instead of doing the smart thing and saving who he could on his own.

Also sidenote with the minor updates to the story I hope the CC intro is better, I always felt that him standing around refusing to do anything until his team gave the go ahead was actually the right thing to do, it sounded callous and mentioning cheerleaders/press was wrong but the main thing he was doing was waiting for his support staff to give him a route to save everyone instead of wasting time on the wrong things.

Also, anons, we seriously need to try avoiding talking about the main series, it derails most of the posts and it's just pointless after all.

Vigs has enough to discuss on its own.

Not really. This whole thing feels pointless since the main characters here did jack shit during AFO war. They didn't contribute at all. It's a glaring issue.

MHA's entire story post-rescue arc is shit so who cares?

this must have been before they started a polygamous relationship with jean

and vigs was shit after knuckleduster fucked off

Irrelevant. The point is this series is worthless because it gets treated like it doesn't exist in the main series. The author was a moron for attaching to MHA if he can't even convince main author to integrate his characters. It all feels disconnected. Either that or these characters are all useless nobodies, or both. There was a war that could've affected the whole world but they did NOTHING. Some heroes.

Some heroes.

Yes, they are vigilantes.

Fuck Ochako

t. IsekaiGOD

So they'll clean up chicken jockey theaters but the minute something actually important happens they'll hide like bitches? Okay.

mha proper is getting a special final one shot in the final data book

They will beat the living shit out of some evil doer in their neighborhood and leave the big things for the heroes while they protect the little guys.
Also just because we and you didn't see them in MHA final arc that doesn't mean they didn't do anything, you have an imagination and just because you didn't see something it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Guys, if they shoehorn these guys into any movies or specials they make for the main series, this problem should be solved, right?

What the fuck is wrong with you? I mean really it's a fucking comic about superheroes, have you considered spending effort on literally anything else?

the main series is ending this year and isnt getting any more movies

leave the big things for the heroes

Sounds weak to me.

Also just because we and you didn't see them in MHA final arc that doesn't mean they didn't do anything

Bro, it was the single most important event in all of MHA history and they just fucked off. What could they possibly have been doing that mattered in the slightest?

Guys, if they shoehorn these guys into any movies or specials they make for the main series, this problem should be solved, right?

Yes? Show that they were actually doing something. Cause right now it's like they just hid while the world was ending.

Why not?
I mean, I agree that it's not very probable that they'll do, but there is also no reason not to do like 1 or 2 movies, an after years or a more generic one if they want.

Then why are you even in this thread, dumbass?

that crawler guy is a menace I tell you! trouble follows his every move you'd think him and the villains work together!
