Ep 3 subs out.
spends all demon slaying money on soba
Ep 3 subs out.
spends all demon slaying money on soba
the cutest
at least it was better than episode 2
I guess I won't drop it
8/10
Fuck yeah. Hope ep. 3 is just nearly as good as 1 and 2.
Is it going to b 12-13 episodes?
waiter, I ordered soba, not your shorts
it's two consecutive cours
I don't know guys. I think demons may be prone to lying. I think we're going to need some more confirmation on that.
I am only watching this and three other anime for spring.
people say things like this in the threads for all 30 of the anime I'm watching, and each time I have questions about why out of all the options out there they chose that one
For me it's because I like historical settings, samurai and adult male MCs. I generally tend to watch plot-focused drama series unless they involve too many retarded waifus with superpowers. Weed out schoolboy MC pseudo-harems, moe girl series, isekai, shoujo self-insert stuff and romcom and you can easily size the number down of seasonal anime down from 50 to 4-6. Would watch Lazarus too and gave it a chance but I can already tell it will suck till the end.
The Emperor was a figurehead at this point in history, TL should've either said the Shogunate or as a more generic "higher ups"
What Japanese term did he use? I didn't watch it yet
Such a shame princess died - her ass was Venus-tier.
Is this series any good? Never heard of it before.
demons never lie trust us bro we're telling the truth
The more they say it the more suspicious they get
Also I bet the girl is the demon (again)
He says "okami" which can mean both "Emperor" or just "authorities", "government", etc. Contextually it should probably just be authorities, especially since they appear to be in Tokyo where the Shogunate rules from Edo Castle. With that being said I don't know about the historical use of the term in the mid-19th century.
Thank you, I just started it and heard it.
Didn't know that 上 could be pronounced "kami" as well and mean "authorities". Although it makes sense, since the central meaning of the kanji is "upper/above", like higher-ups. Welp, still entry-level stuff but always nice to learn something new.
Oh looking at Jap Wikipedia it probably in the pre-Meiji era would have been referring to the relevant feudal lords which in the case of Edo would have been the Shogun himself.
why rape when you can love?
Thank you for looking that up. Guess for once the CR subs aren't so bad. Assuming this is CR subbing.
If this doesn't end with him fucking his sister this is a solid 1/10
If it does end with him fucking his sister this is a solid 10/10.
Simple as.
No, the official subs are wrong; 3 seconds in it says it's 1853 but the Meiji restoration was 1868, 15 years later. You can even see Edo Castle, the ruling seat of the Shogun, in the background of the opening panning shot. Also the inability of the Shogun to deal with the arrival of foreign powers was a direct cause of its downfall and the restoration of the Emperor.
上 as "kami" is kunyomi aka. fuck you that's just how it's always been since some random noble in the 7th century decided to use it and you'd better have it committed to memory.
interesting looking samurai show
look inside
demons
japan plz, I need samurai shows without demons and monsters and magic
The Kenshin remake was last season.
Translator is either retard or heshe thinks that viewer are retards.
To be fair, we are.
Probably thinks he's so clever for equating Ryugujou with Atlantis.
The seer already lied to the imouto so it's BS.
there must be some kind of time dilation happening to rob me of my full lunch break because there is no way I wouldn't have been able to finish this in time
so did the noodle girl get kamikakushichatta, or was she just there and it was suspicious that she was there? did she get caught in a saw trap where she had to carry a giant bowl of soba and if she spills it she dies?
It's a throwaway line. Not worthy of a TL note or losing half the audience.
why out of all the options out there they chose that one
nta but i've storytimed the manga before
a simple google would suffice
Nobody is pausing a TV show to Google an unknown proper noun that has no relation to the story.
I'd argue that they would if they're watching subs and not dubs, but maybe things have gotten worse these days.
Nobody is pausing a TV show to Google
oh you'd be surprised
some would browse facebook while watching a show
If it has no relation to the story might as well keep the original meaning
literally subsplease
begging
trying to be a chooser
buy a cunnyroll subscription or shut up
I am not even a weebo but I wish we could get TL notes back. They can localize it for the dubs. But subs should be close to the original. I like to learn Japanese by watching anime on a slower pace but that doesn't help if I have to google every uncommon term because I cannot trust that the subs are correct.
I'm not saying that it doesn't have meaning. It has meaning, but the meaning is idiomatic, and not notional. We don't translate idioms literally, and never have. The only people who insist on literal translations of idioms are idiotic japanophiles.
Watching trannylation in the current year when there is a superior alternative.
I can assure you that TL notes do not help you learn Japanese while watching anime.
And it was as shit as the original
oh neat
they updated the opening
if you noticed on the old op, suzune has a weird moving eyebrow
youtu.be
good thing they've fixed it
I think there is a small audience on Anon Babble that latches onto seinen with adult men, niche anime and series with weird art styles. Wouldn't wonder if there are anons in this thread besides myself who also followed Revenger, Under Ninja and Odd Taxi (though the latter turned out to be a surprise success).
Anyway, because of this there is a somewhat high chance that you will meet the same "I am only watching 2-4 series" anons in said threads if you're following such series as well.
This should be the job of the translator
I actually thought it was a bad season and I'd be watching 2-3 anime tops, but I just checked and I've picked up 11 shows, which is pretty normal for me. All the times in the past that I tried watching 25-30 anime, I always dropped a bunch and ended back up in the 10-12 range.
The translator did his job in not translating an idiom literally. Idioms are language-specific and convey meaning through the whole phrase.
Same. The first episodes are often decent enough and it's after episode 4 or so that a series is losing the steam. You might watch another two but things are hopeless if it doesn't pick up the pace and improves the quality again then.
30 is on the high end for me too, but there isn't really a theme to this season like winter was the isekai season, so I gave myself some buffer to allow myself to drop things so I don't cling to something shitty because it was the only thing on that day
so being a demon enhanced jinya's warrior autism?
A lot of times, I'll continue to download episodes just in case I ever get any renewed interest, but it's usually around episode 5-7 range that lame series will launch into the filler content, and if you can slog through that because it's light and fun, the ep 10-12 "serious" final arc is usually what kills the deal. You can have a romantic ecchi comedy and suddenly the love interest is betrothed to some filthy old man, and main character gets depressed or cast out of the academy for contrived reasons. It's like, why are you doing this to my comfy harem anime. Wtf. There are a lot of anime that I've watched 9-10 episodes of, but never bothered to finish because the final arc was just awful.
Telling your sob story about your wife who was murdered and brutally raped
Your cup of sake just smiles at you
I'd be pissed. I'm thinking of dropping this, it's not bad by any means but the adaptation is a bit ugly. I've enjoyed a lot of low budget shows but the direction here is just a bit bland. Some of the 鬼 centric dialogue also filters my JSL ass and JPN subs are slow so reading would probably be easier. I do like the story and characters so far at least, travelling ronin hunting down oni while helping those in need is a very classic structure and it's not bad here.
Dumb question, but why is he carrying the katana upside down?
As far as I know this was only done with the oodachi in medieval times for the way you're drawing the blade as a rider on a horse. But I always thought that after horseless combat became common they were carrying the katana with the sharp side pointing upwards. They're easier and quicker to draw that way.
in this case sure, but then you'll see completely random picks, like "this season sucks, I'm only watching Kowloon, Shoushimin S2, and Princession Orchestra" or something
LOL!
If you don't like the adaption you should give the manga or LN a chance but I am not sure how advanced your moonrune reading skill is. I think the adaption is fine so far but episode 3 showed some weaknesses. Episode 1 looked way better but then again it was a long one, so it should count as multiple episodes. Hope that the big plot points later will look just as good.
I really like the show so far but it certainly helps that this will be a complete adaption. Kinda tired of anime that only adapt the first volumes and then you are either facing an untranslated manga or an original that looks worse than the adaption.
B-but muh ESL
If this entire story isnt just a coming of age story where MC, over the course of his journey, realizes that his little sister was right all along, then this story is worthless.
NTRsissies, we're back!
They are demons, right?
Imouto did nothing wrong btw.
only the daughter
I watched it.
They should fire that idiot translator
At this point chatgpt would give a more decent subs
fucking a demon
WTF is wrong with women?
fucking a demon
not a problem
its human shaped
If the viewer misses it, then he really is a retard and the translator was correct.
If he does not and has functioning pair of ears/ can surmise that feudal era Japs weren't talking about Atlantis, then nothing is lost.
What is your problem?
I missed traveler anime so badly I'll take anything resembling it.
so go make that happen and fuck off
Ah I think I get it. Didn't see any spoilers yet but I guess the rape victim and the missing women are the cause, not the result, of the killer oni who turns out to be the daughter. She's killing the men in plain sight because they're either rapists or killed/mistreated some women?
What is your problem?
He's a retard.
Same. I also miss adventures in general. They were mainstream in the past and now you barely find them. It's a shame that I don't like Lazarus so far because it looks like it's gonna be a road trip.
another boring episode
is the entire LN like this
spoiler
nope
sasuga anon, that was at some high iq guess too bad you were wrong, apparently
I missed Kayano Ai too.
Haven’t watched since the first episode 1-10 is the series still cucked?
oh now i see why she's cast as ofuu
she can pull off her mature aspect
hope you like episodic monster stories
Well fug. At least I tried.
Nobody else has the ofuu qualifications.
on second thought that was low iq guess, how come there's a rape spree if the rapists continually get killed off immediately
I didn't expect a spree, rather some rapes or murders happening separately. It seems like she isn't killing that many men besides that one night so it might usually just be one murder per week or so, whenever she learns about a new rape/murder/abuse case or something. The women are the ones missing since they are killed and hidden first, by their human murderers . Some of the women might have fled to be safe or something.
Anyway it's wrong, but it sounded like a logical explanation for the missing women and the rape (I assume that the daughter is the demon but since she's a girl I doubt that she's the one raping women).
Speaking of translation, what caught my ear was the word that was translated as "serial killer"
The truth is a lot funnier
I wondered about that word. They're usually using satsujin-han. Though I already heard tsujigiri somewhere but it's rare. What an oddly specific term and reason to kill a person, makes me wonder how common that was.
he is literally me...
The typical word for that is tameshigiri.
are you also a wicked demon but you're misunderstood and you're actually a good person?
This anime is too intelligent for me.
Hadn't Jinta spelled out who the demon was I would never have caught it.
At this point I tend to avoid subsplease since they only drop CR garbage.
All these anime are on so many different services these days that there's no reason to use CR uploads with their shitty subs.
At this point
that was always literally their purpose since they replaced the old release that had that purpose
Yes, but my point is that CR has gotten so bad that even ESL subs from services like B Global are preferable.
all they did was hire the trannylators who were doing this kind of shit with their fansubs, also that happened a long time ago so you must live under a rock
My monkey brain is telling me it's the shop guy because it's always an established character and he hasn't really done anything all episode long. The reasoning is ass but I still haven't internalized that I should be watching the show with my brain turned on.
who the demon was
who the demon was in the previous episode*
Same impression, but it's almost purely metanarrative. The only clues I have are since Mosuke can blend with humans, that means some other demon can as well and that line about making soba out of passion is the kind of thing that sounds strange in a show like this.
jinya is a shit character
I agree.Also consider:
1.Minor arc characters are there for a reason, so either the daughter or the dad are involved
2.MC calls his cooking serviceable but bland, the shopkeeper says he does it not because he has talent for cooking, but out of passion (for what, mayhaps raping human women?)
2.his shop also has no customers and he's seemingly unconcerned. Sounds like a cover.
the shopkeeper says he does it not because he has talent for cooking, but out of passion
it's a common trope for a guy to quit his previous job and open a ramen shop
Nah he's cool
t. demon
This is Hidive subs and Sentai tends to have shittier translation compared to CR.
I want to make this lovely lady my wife!
The crazy thing about these old timey women is they all would have had hairy armpits and legs.
god that's hot
Is there any scene as hot as the ntr in ep1?
I was attempting to post ITT when Anon Babble died. I had a theory that baldie was the killer, which ended up being wrong
this weeks episode was wild, the best one so far. i wish we had a thread proper about it.
i never doubted bald guy!
Gotta support local businesses.
