God I fucking wish that were true, but I don't think DP's that creative. Part 5 was a really good adaptation in my opinion, and they really put all the cards in the table with the torture dance and infinite deaths scene, but part 6 seemed a bit lazy and meh. I blame more the underwhelming plot of Stone Ocean rather than the animation.
I was talking with a friend about this and I can't help but wonder what'll happen with Johnny's theme. The fanmade piece was so good, it'd be kind of hilarious if the anime theme doesn't compare. But I think DP is going to be way more dedicated and thorough with making SBR's adaptation the best that they can since it's more of a fan favorite/more popular than Stone Ocean.

Araki was actually taught the bible in a Japanese protestant school while he was growing up, and though he doesn't see himself as religious, he does believe in God and these kinds of themes infest his manga. However, because the Japanese audience doesn't care about those themes and western anime/manga consumers are a demographic that's extremely ignorant of religious themes in general, there's just very little will to actually analyze the series from a spiritual perspective.
The corpse parts are just le whacky mcguffins to them, very few people entertain the notion that there's any more to it than that despite the fact that it's pretty obvious if you actually sit and think for a moment.

1-3 is what 7 takes many aspects from and overall the intended story of Jojo's. 4-5 take on their own different directions with 4 being more slice of life with some murder mystery sprinkled in and 5 being its own self-contained thing. 6 is a direct sequel to 3 and pretty much the end of the original Jojo's story.

I wasn't paying that much attention since it was my first watch so it's just my casual impression.
Comparing my experience with that and my part 3 rewatch though, only the parts that directly copy-pasted the manga like Versus and the Pucci fight right before C-Moon stuck out to me, whereas the character designs are a constant and DIO's World is a massive disappointment relative to the manga.

The core metaphor of the series is that the corpse represents the will of God. Coming to terms with God's will is at the crux of every character's story. Gyro, just for example, has the metaphor of the ball hitting the net. When the ball hits the net, nobody knows where it will fall. Where the ball falls is God's will alone, and men can merely pray for a miracle. Which is why, also at the end, Johnny is talking about the power of prayer.

Anyway, getting the corpse, taking the napkin, everything is just a metaphor for understanding or controlling God's will, or fate itself. Valentine wanted the corpse because he wanted to control fate itself for the benefit of the USA. And I'll remind you, Araki was raised Christian. If you haven't understood it yet I'll tell you again that when someone mentions "fate" in this series, they mean the will of God.
And Lucy Steel is the one who was ultimately qualified to be at the nexus of that power, fate itself. If you are chosen by the will of God to inherit the power of Jesus Christ, it's arguable that you're the same as he was. Certain? No. But you can make a really, really fucking good argument in that case. At the very least she's on roughly the same level as Mary, and Catholics already get a lot of flak because they put her on almost the same tier as Jesus. Either way, even if she's not literally the second coming, she's still portrayed in a deliberately Christ-like light. Ascending from the final tomb of Christ into the light is kind of hard to misunderstand unless you're just being deliberately obtuse.

Damn, I can’t believe I missed this parallel. I wonder if he wanted to explore the idea of God being the ultimate good, with justice being Him prevailing in the end. Maybe he used Christianity as a theme because it was easier, or maybe he truly wanted to create a story based on his personal beliefs about Jesus. In Part 6, we already saw him approach this in a more scientific way, but in Part 7, it feels like he had a big realization. I mean, Jesus knew he would be crucified and still accepted his fate. Walking the path of justice, even if it means denying oneself, is something all JoJo characters have in common.

The only two I don't ever really feel like re-watching are parts 5 and 1. I don't even need to explain myself, you all know why.
For part 6, Pucci and Jolyne are great, and so are the higher themes of that part, but the rest of the side cast is a bit weak.
Part 2 is just raw fun and I love Joseph.
Part 8 has an extremely strong first half, but by the second half things become extremely esoteric. There's literally an schizo filter where a normal person is straight up disallowed from participating anymore, and even if you do understand some of the more veiled shit going on with Toru and why he's the main antagonist and what all this has to do with the corpse parts, Johnny, and the Joestar bloodline... So what? It's still a little weak. I like it more upon revisiting it, and I think people will generally come around more to it while it's being animated.
Liking Part 7, 4, and 3, in that order, doesn't really need to be explained.
Part 9 is a lot better than it gets credit for, and honestly I think it's sabotaged merely by Dragona's existence and the fact that such a character just inherently bogs the whole thing down in culture war bullshit... However, I almost kind of like that because Jodio is a zoomer Joestar, and needing to overcome uniquely zoomer hurdles in a meta sense feels appropriate for a guy like him.
Of course incessant bitching about trannies should cast a pall over the series. It's just another one of the 'absurdities' that the motherfucker himself mentions. Once you come to understand that things like this are purposefully on the table with Part 9, it starts to make a lot more sense and is easier to appreciate. Again though, I think 7, 8, and 9 all kind of have intelligence/schizo filters where you literally need to pass a vibe check or you're just disallowed from participating.

Yeah, I don't really think it's an accident that these parts follow each other back to back. It's strange that Part 6 is widely disliked, while Part 7 isn't. I imagine that, when he changed publishers, he wanted to tackle the same theme except more explicit and more mature on the following try. People talk about Part 7 and how whacky it is with the corpse parts and all that, but I think something they're missing is that this struggle is meant to stand as the core of that universe, the same way that Jonathan's struggle with Dio was the core of the preceding universe. The context changes, but the struggle remains the same. Fighting against Dio is the counterpart to fighting for the corpse in Part 7. The struggle against evil echoes from the first run to the next. The Joestar's fight for righteousness, a force that is now explicitly wrapped up in the power of God in terms that are pretty much unquestionable as of Part 7, but it's been that way since Part 1. Joseph defeats Kars because of the will of God and the volcano. Jotaro beats DIO the same way when he manages to nail the perfect confluence of circumstances to obliterate his ass. Kira is wiped away from Morioh by the will of God, and when Pucci is slain by Emporio it's only because Jolyne had such powerful raw faith that she was willing to die because she knew it was the righteous path. Doesn't matter if Pucci is a priest; Jolyne died for Emporio, she emulated Christ, and that's the reason her final victory was so assured and a legit miracle set the Joestar family gently on a brighter path immediately afterwards, showering Emporio with everything he could have dreamed of after overcoming his darkest moment.
